¡De regreso nuevamente a las carreras drag!...
En realidad, me encanta cambiar de los carros que puedes ver en cualquier esquina de tu barrio, a los autos que solo puedes ver en la TV (excepto si hay carreras drag en tu ciudad natal, que no es el caso todas las veces).
Y mejor si cada vez que lo hago, puedo encontrar aún más información interesante para compartir...
Ya saben, algunas veces fluye, pero la mayoría de veces es realmente difícil estar aquí, cada vez, publicando alguna cosa...
Y hablando de eso, créanme, preparar una sola publicación en este humilde blog exige un esfuerzo e investigación que muchos colegas coleccionistas prefieren dejar a un lado, ¡lo que es una lástima!...
Quiero decir, sí te apasiona algo, unas pocas fotografías no le permitirán a la gente saber por qué estás en esta locura.
Cualquiera con unos pocos dólares puede comprar un coleccionable, pero pocos de nosotros pueden explicar, qué está detrás de ese coleccionable y por qué lo compraste.
Hay una enorme diferencia entre un comprador y un coleccionista, y parece que hay un montón de compradores por ahí...
Sólo, no me odien por ser honesto, es parte de mi "trabajo" como coleccionista y bloguero =PPPPP...
Ahora, volviendo a nuestro primer tema, ¿sabían que realmente hay más de 200 clases (tipos de competición) en las carreras drag?... ¡WOW!...
Eso fue sorprendente aún para mí (un novato avanzado en asuntos de drag) y cada una presenta diferentes requisitos y restricciones.
También, hay dos organizaciones en los Estados Unidos que regulan las carreras drag: NHRA e IHRA (NHRA es la más grande).
No puedo cubrir el asunto completo en una sola publicación así que, voy a hablar un poco sobre el auto frente a sus ojos.
Este pertenece a la Clase Super Stock lo que significa: el vehículo tiene una clara semejanza con el respectivo auto de pasajeros por fuera, pero hay fuertes modificaciones dentro.
Las restricciones involucran el peso de envio y caballaje de fábrica, el resto, bueno, veamos...
El coche original fue preparado para las carreras drag en Hurst Performance, fue parcialmente desensamblado, modificado (muchas partes fueron reemplazadas por las respectivas partes especiales para competición, reestructuradas o desechadas, como el radio y la calefacción, en nombre del desempeño) y luego reensamblado, también el chasis fue modificado por necesidad.
¡El motor no fue otro que el AMC de 390 pulgadas cúbicas, 6.4 L, V8 clasificado en 420 hp (después de las modificaciones)!...
El patrocinador principal fue Peterson Motor Co. (Pete’s Patriot, ahora saben por qué), el propietario original fue Ernest McGraw (recientemente fue adquirido y restaurado por Mike Pearce) y su mejor pasada en cuarto de milla fue: 10,7 segundos a 126,9 mph en las manos de Lou Downing, su más famoso piloto.
¡Esta es una sobresaliente réplica del modelo del que estoy hablando: el AMC AMX Pete’s Patriot SS -Super Stock- de 1969 (basado en un AMC AMX de 1968) por Johnny Lightning!...
Viene en una enorme y gruesa tarjeta de lujo (9 1/2" x 6") impresa a todo color, la más grande que haya visto para un modelo de esta escala.
El modelo en sí presenta una construcción de carrocería y chasis en diecast, también una grandiosa similitud con el auto real (que es retratado en la tarjeta coleccionable incluida), excepto por el frente que luce un poquitín raro, pero está bien para mí.
Tiene llantas de caucho bellamente impresas con un logo de Goodyear, aunque el diseño de rimes no es fiel, luce aún más "asesino" para mí, que el original.
¡El trabajo de pintura / tampos son una fantasía!... ¡No he visto tal grado de precisión muy a menudo!...
Este es otro encantador diecast mío... =DDDDD

Back again to the drag racing!...
Actually, I love to change from the cars you can see on any corner at your neighborhood, to the cars you can only see on the TV (except if there are drag racing in your hometown, which is not the case all the times).
And better if every time I do so, I can find even more interesting info to share...
You know, sometimes it flows, but most of the times is really hard to being here, every time, publishing anything...
And talking about it, believe me, to prepare a single publication in this humble blog demands an effort and research, that many fellow collectors prefer to leave aside, which is such a pity!...
I mean, if you’re passionate for something, a few pictures will not let the rest of people know why you’re in this madness.
Anybody with a few bucks can buy a collectible, but few of us can explain what’s behind that collectible and why you bought it.
There is a huge difference between a buyer and a collector, and it seems that there are a lot of buyers out there...
Just don’t hate me for being honest, is part of my "job" as collector and blogger =PPPPP...
Now, returning to our first topic, did you know that actually there are more than 200 classes (types of competition) in the drag racing?... WOW!...
That was shocking even for me (an advanced rookie in drag matters) and each one features different requirements and restrictions.
Also, there are two organizations in the United States which rule the drag racing: NHRA and IHRA (NHRA is the bigger one).
I cannot cover the whole thing in a single post so, I’m gonna talk a bit about the car in front of your eyes.
It belongs to the Super Stock Class which means: the vehicle has a clear resemblance with the respective passenger car in the outside, but there are strong modifications inside.
The restrictions involve the factory shipping weight and horsepower, the rest, well, let’s see...
The original car was prepared for drag racing at Hurst Performance, it was partially disassembled, modified (many parts were replaced by their respective special race parts, retooled or discarded, like radio and heater, in the name of performance) and then reassembled, also the chassis was modified as a must.
The engine was no other than the AMC 390 cu in, 6.4 L, V8 rated at 420 hp (after the modifications)!...
The main sponsor was Peterson Motor Co. (Pete’s Patriot, now you know why), the original owner was Ernest McGraw (recently was acquired and restored by Mike Pearce) and its best pass in the quarter mile was: 10.7 seconds at 126.9 mph in the hands of Lou Downing, its most famous driver.
This is an outstanding diecast replica of the model I’m talking about: the 1969 AMC AMX Pete’s Patriot SS -Super Stock- (based on a 1968 AMC AMX) by Johnny Lightning!...
It comes in a huge and thick deluxe card (9 1/2" x 6") printed in full color, the biggest I have seen for a model of this scale.
The model itself features a diecast body and chassis construction, also a great resemblance with the actual car (which is portrayed in a collector card included), except by the front which looks a tad odd, but is fine for me.
It has rubber tires nicely printed with a Goodyear logo and although the wheels design is not faithful, it looks even more "killer" for me, than the original.
The paint job / tampos are a fantasy! I have not seen such level of accuracy so often!...

... carajo viejo lou yo pense que ud se habia retirado para manejar articulado en bogota...y que su nave la tenia guardadita en el patio trasero de mi finca... jajajaja que comentario tan incoherente no?... eso fue el impacto que tuvo ver esta pieza de coleccion tan exquicita en todo el sentido de la palabra y por donde lo mire... ahi me tiene que este si me mato... pero no del susto ojo...
mijo, no crea, todavía tengo expectativa de manejar buseta (eso sí, dándole harto zapato y ahí que me saque la piedra algún pasajero(a) con su clásico: "ay señor !!! cree que lleva animales !!!" y yo muy diplomáticamente contestándole: no señora, pero sí deja de mujir, la llevo más rápido al veterinario... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
al fin le gusta alguito, no ??? qué berraco !!!... conmigo, mi amigo, va a aprender a apreciar las rarezas, no lo que a todo el mundo le gusta y ya va a ver estas cosillas del mundo loco del coleccionista, con otros ojos... por el momento voy a darle un calmante, porque haber visto esta pequeña joya lo dejó medio turuleto... HEHEHE =)

This is simply one of the best I've seen from you, I love this car, the French or maybe American flag color theme as the body color is truly fun and amazing..... I would love to have this in my collection - no doubt about it!!!
the color scheme in this Super Stock car is the official for AMC Racing, it looks a bit frenchy but actually is american... i love this diecast as well ♥♥♥♥♥, it shows clearly what JL is able to do, you cannot expect less than this: collector’s quality... even the vintage models are lovely !!! =)
