El toque del diseño, se siente tan natural que a duras penas lo percibes cuando está bien concebido; un objeto diseñado, te da la impresión que es justo de la forma en que debe ser y funciona de una manera que hace tu vida más fácil y/o más interesante, lo que no es poco decir...
Sin importar la rama de esta amplia disciplina que estemos considerando, el diseño involucra pensar diferente, que es precisamente lo que la mayoría de personas no hace; pero esto es hecho teniendo en mente la gente para la cual el objeto diseñado está destinado así que, en ese sentido, el diseño en realidad ayuda a las personas a pensar diferente también...
Un objeto o producto diseñado resistirá la prueba del tiempo, porque detrás de este hay una clara intención de buscar la excelencia, de ofrecer la mejor solución posible a una necesidad planteada y el diseño hace todo esto con estilo, meticulosidad y sentido común.
El diseño tiene la peculiaridad de ser nutrido por el contexto cultural en el que se desenvuelve, por eso es que hay diferentes escuelas o corrientes de esta disciplina alrededor del mundo y algunas de ellas han alcanzado fama a nivel mundial.
El diseño teutón indudablemente, ha sido uno de mis favoritos desde que estudié historia del arte, como parte de mi formación académica y durante dicho intervalo, escuché sobre el Movimiento Bauhaus.
La influencia de este último ha sido tan fuerte localmente (en Alemania) y más tarde internacionalmente, que no sería equivocado decir que es la corriente de arte y diseño más importante del siglo XX y hoy, en pleno siglo XXI, es todavía una presencia perceptible.
Diría, un poco atrevidamente, que el legado principal del Movimiento Bauhaus fue descubrir el papel capital del arte, la artesanía y el diseño, en la transformación de la mentalidad de los individuos y, como consecuencia, de la sociedad.
Los líderes de Bauhaus, fueron incisivos en la relación entre forma y función, la belleza de la simplicidad y la practicidad, la futilidad de crear una separación entre arte, diseño e industria; todas esas concepciones han permeado la visión de artistas y diseñadores (como el suscrito) por igual.
Los objetos desarrollados por este "experimento" (¿o debería decir: filosofía?) fueron reducidos a su mínima expresión en términos visuales, prescindiendo de adornos superfluos, para revelar su esencia, su funcionalidad, el deleite que proviene de satisfacer una necesidad con la menor cantidad de elementos posible.
A primera vista, los productos correspondiente a la anterior descripción, lucen "algo" despojados, pero incluso un ojo inexperto puede ver algo irresistible en ellos, simplemente porque estos involucran mucha conceptualización y trabajo, análisis y síntesis, con el fin de crear un objeto donde cada elemento tiene un propósito.
Si hay algo que estaba claro para los representantes del Bauhaus, es que los objetos producidos en masa debían tener "alma", "carácter" y la única forma que esto podría ser posible, es a través del trabajo de diseñadores y artistas, quienes ponen un poco de sí mismos en sus desarrollos.
Algunas personas discreparán con mi punto de vista, pero pienso que esta es la clase de enfoque que puedes ver aplicado en un hito del diseño automotriz, un símbolo de la contracultura y una referencia para cualquier vehículo utilitario ligero de la era moderna.
La Volkswagen Tipo 2 T1c Deluxe Samba Microbus Techo Corredizo (23 Ventanas) de 1967, es la última interpretación de la Tipo 2 T1, fue también el tope de línea y pertenece a la generación más memorable de todas.
Una invitada como esta, con semejantes credenciales, merece más oportunidades para estar en mi blog luego, en futuras publicaciones, hablaré más específicamente sobre este vehículo, sus características y su diseño...
En mi publicación anterior, mencioné por primera vez, algunas de las tiendas minoristas locales más representativas en mi ciudad natal y, por cierto, no fue publicidad pagada o algo por el estilo...
Estas tiendas al por menor fueron mencionadas aquí, usando nombres propios, con varios propósitos en mente y el principal es: INFORMATIVO, ya que me estoy dando cuenta que, de alguna forma, mi blog se está convirtiendo en punto de referencia para algunas personas localmente y en el extranjero.
Las irregularidades que mencioné en mi publicación previa, con respecto a los diferentes precios para los mismos artículos (en este caso: diecast de Hot Wheels y Matchbox), es algo que los coleccionistas locales deberían saber, porque somos afectados directamente, ya sea que compremos nuestros diecast a través de los canales regulares de distribución (tiendas minoristas) o no.
Piensa en esto: el precio de los diecast y otros coleccionables, en las tiendas minoristas, siempre será el precio base para la industria así que, si ellos suben sus precios en las líneas Regulares, todo el resto de líneas, incluyendo Adultas, De Lujo y Premium, subirán sus precios consecuentemente, NO debe haber duda sobre esto.
Otro asunto que me gustaría mencionar es que, en algunas tiendas minoristas, ha sido implementada la práctica de poner cinta transparente sobre las burbujas de las tarjetas, para prevenir robos (y esas son malas noticias para los coleccionistas de empaques... Ups, lo siento, quiero decir, para los "coleccionistas de diecast" nuevos en tarjeta =PPPPP).
Reitero en esta reseña, que la distribución de modelos Matchbox, en tarjeta individual y otras presentaciones, realmente, REALMENTE apesta aquí (he oído las mismas quejas de colegas coleccionistas en otros países) y no se equivoquen, los culpables en gran parte por tal despropósito son los acaparadores / especuladores y/o Mafia de los Hot Wheels así que, debemos hacer algo contra estos parásitos o harán de esta afición un completo fastidio...
Más sobre estos tópicos candentes después; por ahora, diré que el hermoso modelo que estoy presentando esta vez, fue un hallazgo en una tienda local de juguetes / diecast, uno que es muy buscado y por tanto, estoy muy contento con este botín.
El trabajo de Matchbox en este modelo es encantador, con el realismo que puedes esperar de esta marca (me encanta el techo corredizo abierto para revelar más del interior) y ha sido un gran favorito desde su debút en 1999, para la Serie Science Fiction; tiene al menos 19 iteraciones en líneas Regulares y unas pocas más en líneas Adultas.
La mía pertenece a la Serie Highway Heroes Series (publiqué otro modelo de esta Serie aquí); tiene carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico con acabado cromado; el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en dos colores: blanco para la parte superior y verde azulado para la parte inferior, presentando una decoración con franjas en azul oscuro, naranja y blanco, también incluyendo logos de VW Transporter y Matchbox, hay tampos adicionales en gris claro para las luces delanteras.
Los interiores en naranja fluorescente están bien detallados (el timón está a la derecha, de acuerdo con las especificaciones americanas), las ventanas son transparentes, con una especie de persiana para la parte trasera, las ruedas plásticas usan el diseño de rimes 5-Spoke Teardrop en cromado y fue hecha en China...

The touch of design, it feels so natural that you hardly perceive it when it’s well conceived; an object designed, gives you the impression that it’s just the way it should be and works in a way that makes your life easier and/or more interesting, which is not little to say...
Regardless the branch of this wide discipline we are considering, design involves thinking differently, which is precisely what most people don’t do; but this is made bearing in mind the people to which the object designed is intended so, in that sense, design actually helps people to think different too...
An object or product designed will stand the test of time, because behind it there is a clear intention to seek the excellence, to offer the best possible solution to a need raised and design does all of this with style, thoroughness and common sense.
Design has the peculiarity of being nourished by the cultural context in which it unfolds, that’s why there are different schools or currents of this discipline around the world and some of them have achieved fame globally.
The teuton design undoubtedly, has been one of my favorites since I studied history of art, as part of my educational background and during such interval, I heard about the Bauhaus Movement.
The influence of the latter has been so strong locally (in Germany) and later internationally, that it wouldn’t be wrong to say that is the most important current of art and design of the 20th century and today, right in the 21st century, it’s still a perceptible presence.
I would say, a bit daringly, that the main legacy of the Bauhaus Movement was to discover the capital role of art, craftmanship and design, in the transformation of the mindset of individuals and, as a consequence, of the society.
The Bauhaus leaders, were trenchant in the direct relationship between form and function, the beauty of simplicity and practicality, the futility of creating a separation between art, design and industry; all those conceptions have permeated the vision of artist and designers (as the undersigned) alike.
The objects developed by this "experiment" (or should I say: philosophy?) were reduced to their minimal expression in visual terms, doing without superfluous ornaments, to reveal their essence, their functionality, the delight that comes from satisfying a necessity with the least possible number of elements.
At first sight, the products corresponding to the above description, look "kinda" stripped, but even an untrained eye can see something compelling about them, just because these involve a lot of conceptualization and work, analysis and synthesis, in order to create an object where each element has a purpose.
If there is something that was clear for the representatives of Bauhaus, is that mass produced objects should have "soul", "character" and the only way it might be possible, is through the work of designers and artists, who put a bit of themselves in their developments.
Some people will disagree with my point of view, but I think that this is the kind of approach you can see applied in a milestone of the automotive design, a symbol of the counterculture and a reference for any light utility vehicle of the modern era.
The 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 T1c Deluxe Samba Microbus Sunroof (23-Windows), is the last rendition of the Type 2 T1, it was also the top of the line and it belongs to the most memorable generation of all.

In my previous publication, I mentioned for the first time, some of the most representative local retail stores in my hometown and, by the way, it was not paid advertising or something like that...
These retail stores were mentioned here, using proper names, with several purposes in mind and the main one is: INFORMATIVE, since I’m realizing that, somehow, my blog is becoming a point of reference for some people locally and abroad.
The irregularities that I mentioned in my previous publication, regarding the different price for the same items (in this case: Hot Wheels and Matchbox diecast), is something the local collectors should know, because we are affected directly, either we buy our diecast collectibles through the regular channels of distribution (retail stores) or not.
Think about this: the price of diecast and other collectibles, in retail stores, will always be the base price for the industry so, if they raise their prices in the Regular lines, all the rest of the lines, including Adult, Deluxe and Premium, will raise their prices accordingly, there must be NO doubt about it.
Another matter I would like to mention is that, in some retail stores, it has been implemented the practice of putting clear tape on the bubble of cards, to prevent theft (and those are bad news for the packaging collectors... Ups, sorry, I mean, for the "collectors of diecast" mint in card =PPPPP).
I reiterate in this review, that the distribution of Matchbox models, in individual card and other presentations, really, REALLY sucks here (I have heard the same complaint from fellow collectors in other countries) and make no mistake, the ones to blame largely for such absurdity are the hoarders / scalpers and/or the Mafia of the Hot Wheels so, we must do something against these parasites or they will make of this hobby a whole nuisance...
More on these sizzling topics later; by now, I will say that the beautiful model I’m featuring this time, was a finding in a local toys / diecast store, one that is highly sought after and hence, I’m very happy with this loot.
The work of Matchbox on this model is charming, with the realism you can expect from this brand (I love the sunroof opened to reveal more of the interior) and it has been a great favorite since its debut in 1999, for the Science Fiction Series; it has at least 19 iterations in Regular lines and a few more in Adult lines.
Mine belongs to the Highway Heroes Series (I published another model of this Series here); it has diecast body and plastic chassis with chrome finishing; the paint job was made in two colors: white for the upper and teal for the lower part, featuring a decoration with stripes in dark blue, orange and white, also including VW Transporter and Matchbox logos, there are additional tampos in light gray for the head lights.
The interiors in fluorescent orange are well detailed (the steering wheel is on the right side, according to american specs), the windows are clear, with a sort of louver for the rear ones, the plastic wheels use the 5-Spoke Teardrop rims design in chrome and it was made in China...

Peculiarity is something very subjective like a double edged sword where most either like or dislike such design. For Volkswagen, this van turned out well steering a positive direction. It's an epic design which secure the branding for decades. Everyone likes something different or unique. The sun roof is a cute mod too.
There are several circumstances involved in the huge success of the VW Transporter, but I would say that most of them were out of control of its original creators... However, what is clear for me, is that the creators made a risky bet, producing a multipurpose vehicle, so well conceived (albeit not without faults) that today is still loved by many people, including me, of course; their boldness was a first step in the right direction !!!...
And yeah, the sunroof definitely was a great touch; something I have not seen so far, in similar models by other diecast brands !!!... =D
