Supongo que para la mayoría de personas la vista de un bus escolar debe ser algo familiar, un recuerdo vívido de su infancia, porque, bueno, durante el viaje a la escuela podías hacer nuevos amigos, encontrarte con tus "viejos" compañeros y eventualmente algunos de los abusivos que nunca quieres encontrarte, pero allí estaban... 

Buenos y malos recuerdos, pero pienso que para la mayoría de nosotros las épocas de escuela fueron mayoritarimente buenos tiempos y de vez en cuando, incluso los abusadores (cuando el abuso / matoneo no era un término politizado o parte de una agenda) podían llegar a ser tus amigos, porque detrás de casi cada abusador, hay alguien física y/o psicológicamente abusado, que necesita desesperadamente un verdadero amigo y ni siquiera lo sabe... 

Sin embargo, ir a la escuela en un bus escolar no es parte de mis recuerdos, simplemente porque la escuela a la que fui no tenía este servicio y estaba relativamente cerca así que no fue un problema importante de todas formas. 

Los buses escolares en Estados Unidos, por otro lado, son una vista muy común, parte de la cultura popular, pero aquí en mi patria estos vehículos son más un asunto de escuelas para la clase alta; con todo, esto no me impide encontrar los buses escolares bastante atractivos, justo como casi cualquier otra clase de vehículo utilitario / caballo de trabajo. 

Esa es la razón principal porque estoy introduciendo estos invitados, basados en el Bus Escolar SWB (Distancia Corta Entre Ejes, por sus siglas en inglés) - Chasis - Ford Serie B (B700) de 1989, un Camión Utilitario para Trabajo Mediano Clase 7 con Carrocería de Bus Escolar, perteneciente a la sexta generación de la Serie B, lanzada por Ford en 1948. 

Mientras que los buses escolares, especialmente aquellos presentando el trabajo de pintura clásico amarillo ocre con gráficos negros son una rareza aquí (y estándar en EE.UU.), vehículos de diferentes generaciones de la Serie B, han sido relativamente comunes en el mercado local, más que nada en el transporte público. 

He visto también, todavía en servicio, varios vehículos Ford Serie B, que fueron adquiridos por empresas de servicios públicos en flotillas, con configuraciones de volqueta o camión de canastilla y puedes ver camiones furgón trabajando para compañías privadas de logística. 

Ahora, ya que la Serie B fue fabricada por Ford como un chasis, con motor, transmisión, suspensión, ruedas, la fascia frontal completa y los básicos para andar, el resto de la carrocería y equipamiento interior es provisto por companías de terceros. 

Estas empresas carroceras incluyen: Amtran, Blue Bird, Carpenter, Collins, Corbeil, Crown, Gillig, Girardin, IH-IC, Liberty Bus, Micro Bird, Mid-Bus, Starcraft, Superior, Thomas, Transtec, U.S. Bus Corporation, Van-Con, Ward y Wyane, entre otras, algunas de ellas ya extintas, ya sea para buses Tipo A (Tamaño Pequeño / Vagoneta), Tipo B (Tamaño Mediano), Tipo C (Convencional de Tamaño Completo) y Tipo D (Estilo Tránsito de Nariz Chata con Control Delantero)... 

Los carritos de juguete son solo eso: carritos de juguete, NO son coleccionables adultos en el sentido apropiado de la palabra así que, ¿por qué algunos coleccionistas experimentados sienten algún aprecio por ellos?... 

Bueno, esto es principalmente un asunto de nostalgia, por eso es que tienen algún valor y un cierto precio en el mercado secundario, de otra forma serían solo artículos baratos, sabemos eso perfectamente y luego está la especulación grosera... 

¿Por qué la mayoría de personas en este gremio (no coleccionistas, con seguridad) no entienden este hecho simple y quieren crear "santos griales" ultra-costosos a partir de carritos de juguete y cosas estúpidas como esa?... 

Probablemente porque quieren llamar la atención y consentir su ego con idioteces, en vez de perseguir el conocimiento que puedes adquirir a través de esta afición y llegar a conocer gente interesante, quienes están convencidos que esto es cualquier cosa menos una cuestión de mocosos adultos con complejo de superioridad... 

Los carritos de juguetes NO son réplicas a escala, están supeditados al tamaño de su empaque; NO presentan proporciones perfectas, son modificados para lucir de una cierta manera, como cualquier juguete, sabes; NO son reproducciones precisas de autos reales, eso es algo que esperas de coleccionables adultos verdaderos, NO de carritos de juguete... 

Eso es precisamente por lo que Hot Wheels es conocida, por causa de sus carritos de juguete, otro hecho simple que es claro como el cristal para cualquier coleccionista experimentado y eso es lo que busco en esta marca, que solía tener algunos estándares de calidad, ahora olvidados... 

Mis invitados para esta reseña son parte de las cosas buenas relativamente antiguas que la marca azul de Mattel solía fabricar, basados en un Bus Escolar Ford Serie B (B700) de 1989, el modelo fue apodado simplemente School Bus, fue diseñado por Larry Wood y lanzado por primera vez en 1989, como parte de la Línea Principal, ha tenido al menos 32 iteraciones para líneas de las categorías Regular y Adulta... 

Conseguí los dos en el mercado secundario, el primero con la ayuda de un amigo mío, colega coleccionista e importador, hace más de 8 años y el segundo en una tienda de coleccionables local, hace más o menos 6 años.

Mi primera muestra pertenece a la Serie Heat Fleet de 1997, parte de la Línea Principal y venía en la tarjeta azul habitual; mientras que la segunda muestra pertenece a la Serie Hot Wheels Pro Racing - Deluxe Caterpillar de 2000, una línea Adulta y venía dentro de una tarjeta más grande, más gruesa, especial para esta serie. 

Ambos ofrecen carrocería en diecast y chasis plástico (negro y color hueso respectivamente), las proporciones fueron alteradas, obviamente, más notablemente en la mitad superior, la cual es demasiado alta, pero parece representar un bus escolar carrozado por Wayne. 

El trabajo de pintura para la primera muestra fue hecho en verde oscuro con acabado Metalflake, complementado por una decoración con flamas hechas con tampos sobre los paneles laterales y el techo (añadí toques plateados para las luces y parrilla frontales, así como para las luces de cola), en blanco, amarillo y rojo. 

Para la segunda fue hecho en amarillo, complementada por una decoración prolija con calcomanías sobre prácticamente todos los paneles excepto el techo, con tampos para las luces y parrilla frontales, más tampos adicionales para las ventanas. 

Y llegar a pensar que la mayoría de personas encuentran las decoraciones actuales para líneas de la categoría Adulta como Car Culture y similares, las mejores: estas personas son deliberadamente ignorantes y les encanta hablar basura!... 

Ambos modelos tienen interiores blancos, con un nivel de detalle muy básico y ventanas transparentes; la selección de ruedas fue respectivamente: plásticas presentando diseño de rimes 5 Spoke en cromado y multiparte Real Riders con diseño de rimes NASCAR Aero 10 Spoke en negro, con tampos blancos Goodyear - Eagle, la segunda muestra incluye una grandiosa tarjeta de colección a todo color y fueron hechos respectivamente en Malasia y Tailandia...

I guess for most people the sight of a school bus must be something familiar, a vivid memory of their infancy, because, well, during the trip to school you could make new friends, meet your "old" partners and eventually some of the bullies you never want to meet, but there they are... 

Good and bad memories, but I think for most of us school times were mostly good times and once in a while, even the bullies (when bullying was not a politicized term or part of an agenda) could become your friends, because behind almost every bully, there is someone physically and/or psychologically abused, who needs desperately a true friend and doesn’t even know it... 

However, going to school in a school bus is not part of my memories, just because the school I went didn’t have this service and it was relatively near so it was not an important issue for me anyway. 

School buses in United States, on the other hand, are a very common sight, part of the popular culture, but here in my homeland these vehicles are more a matter of schools for the upper class; yet, it doesn’t stop me to find school buses quite appealing, just like almost any other kind of utility vehicle / workhorse. 

That’s the main reason why I’m introducing these guests, based on the 1989 Ford B-Series (B700) School Bus SWB (Short Wheel Base) - Chassis, a Medium Duty Class 7 Utility Truck with School Bus Body, belonging to the sixth generation of the B-Series, released by Ford in 1948. 

While school buses, specially those featuring the classic ocher yellow paint job with black graphics are a rarity here (and standard in the U.S.), vehicles from different generations of the Series B, have been relatively common in the local market, more than anything in the public transportation. 

I have seen as well, still in service, several Ford B-Series vehicles, which were acquired by utility companies in fleets, with the dump truck or bucket truck configurations and you can see box trucks working for private logistics companies. 

Now, since the B-Series was manufactured by Ford as a chassis, with engine, transmission, suspension, wheels, the complete front fascia and the basics to run, the rest of the body and interior equipment is provided by third party companies. 

These coachbuilder companies include: Amtran, Blue Bird, Carpenter, Collins, Corbeil, Crown, Gillig, Girardin, IH-IC, Liberty Bus, Micro Bird, Mid-Bus, Starcraft, Superior, Thomas, Transtec, U.S. Bus Corporation, Van-Con, Ward and Wyane, among others, some of them already extincted, either for Type A (Small / Van Size), Type B (Mid Size), Type C (Conventional Full Size) and Type D (Forward Control Flat Nose Transit Style) buses... 

Toy cars are just that: toy cars, they are NOT adult collectibles in the proper sense of the word so, why some experienced collectors feel some appreciation for them?... 

Well, it’s mainly a matter of nostalgia, that’s why they have some value and a certain price in the secondary market, otherwise they will be just cheap items, we know that perfectly and then there is the gross speculation... 

Why most people in this guild (not collectors, for sure) don’t understand this simple fact and want to create ultra-expensive "holy grails" out of toy cars and stupid things like that?... 

Probably it’s because they want to attract attention and pamper their ego with idiocies, instead of pursuing the knowledge you can acquire through this hobby and get to know interesting people who are convinced that it’s anything but a matter of grown-up brats with superiority complex... 

Toy cars are NOT scale replicas, they are subject to the size of their packaging; they do NOT feature perfect proportions, they are modified to look in a certain way, like any toy, you know; they are NOT accurate reproductions of actual cars, that’s something you expect only from true adult collectibles, NOT from toy cars... 

That’s precisely for which Hot Wheels is known, because of its toy cars, another simple fact that is crystal clear for any experienced collector and that’s what I look for in this brand, which used to have some quality standards, now forgotten... 

My guests for this review are part of the relatively old good stuff that the blue brand of Mattel used to manufacture, based on a 1989 Ford B-Series (B700) School Bus, the model was dubbed simply School Bus, it was designed by Larry Wood and released for the first time in 1989, as part of the Mainline, it has had at least 32 iterations for lines in the Regular and Adult categories... 

I got both in the secondary market, the first one with the help of a friend of mine, fellow collector and importer, more than 8 years ago and the second one in a local collectibles store, pretty much 6 years ago. 

My first sample belongs to the 1997 Heat Fleet Series, part of the Mainline and it came in the usual blue card; while the second one belongs to the 2000 Hot Wheels Pro Racing - Deluxe Caterpillar Series, an Adult line and it came inside a bigger, thicker and full color card, special for this series. 

Both offer diecast body and plastic chassis (black and off-white respectively), the proportions were altered, obviously, more notably in the upper half, which is too high, but it seems to represent a Wayne bodied school bus. 

The paint job for the first sample was made in dark green with Metalflake finishing, complemented by a decoration with flames made with tampos on the side panels and the roof (I added silver touches for the front lights and grill, as well as for tail lights), in white, yellow and red. 

For the second one it was made in yellow, complemented by a prolix decoration with decals on virtually all the panels of the body except the roof, with tampos for the front lights and grill, plus additional tampos for the windows. 

And come to think that most people find the current decorations for lines from the Adult category, like Car Culture and the like, the best ever: these people are willfully ignorants and love to talk rubbish!... 

Both models have white interiors, with a very basic level of detail and clear windows; the wheels selection was respectively: plastic featuring 5 Spoke rims design in chrome and multipart Real Riders with NASCAR Aero 10 Spoke rims design in black, with Goodyear - Eagle white tampos, the second sample includes a great full color trading card and they were made respectively in Malaysia and Thailand...
