ENGLISH Just when I was preparing this publication, I realized that another prestigious brand of the car’s universe is already discontinued...
The automotive industry is seriously a kinda rude realm...
Or just another one where Mr. "the less you sell, the closer you are to the extinction" rules...
But what’s more disappointing about it is that, a brand that began as something promising and innovative, ended in disgrace...
The case of Mercury in Ford, reminds me what happened with Oldsmobile in General Motors...
A handful of repeated bad decisions ruined years of success, with memorable models that left an indelible mark in the car world.
The executives said: "the sales were not working so, we had to finish it..." just when they should say: "we dared put the Mercury’s badge on vehicles lacking of personality, mediocre, rough copies of the models by Ford..."
Just in case you don’t believe me, let’s check a sample of what I’m talking about.
Mercury was a luxury division placed between Ford and Lincoln, with a consistent production of beautiful and distinctive models like the 1956 Mercury Montclair Coupe.
This is a full-size vehicle, manufactured either as coupe, sedan or convertible, all of them a prodigality of good taste, originality and a pleasurable dose of chrome.
The design / shape took some elements of the Mercury XM-800, a concept car created in 1954 for the Chicago Auto Show so, this is a perfect specimen to show how the future looked for the 50’s generation.
This car is big, long, heavy and maybe (just maybe) a tad slow, but you don’t give a damn about it, because is ritzy and so stylish!...
Anyway, let me say that the top of the line powertrain for this lush vehicle is a 368 cu in, 6.0 L, Lincoln Y-Block, V8... Uhmmm, sounds really good!
Most of the cars nowadays look so shoddy and insignificant, aren’t they?...
That’s the reason why when someone sees one of these classics abandoned in a junkyard, is not a big deal to get some money to restore it, to a condition as close as possible to the original or for a careful customization...
The final result will be always a great visual reward.
This precious model by Hot Wheels was not in my plans, I have no idea it was available... In that case, I would be crazy looking for it...
The funny thing is that, it just "popped up" when I was checking carefully the "box of surprises" of a friend / colleague / provider of mine (and that day, I was so tired and bored, that I was about to cancel the appointment we had to see the last arrivals...).
It belongs to a recent regular line, but that’s precisely its greatest merit, because the casting itself is plenty of details (specially in the front grille) and the resemblance with the actual model is amazing!...
The original two color scheme, is achieved through a very unusual construction, since the body is half diecast (top) and half plastic (bottom).
The top of the body has a bright orange paint job and a touch of white in the roof, while the bottom in white has a flames decor (which is always welcome for me and fits very well this classic).
There is another unusual feature: the opening hood with detailed engine in diecast and is complemented by a plastic chromed chassis with sporty wheels design...
Mat 19:23-26 "Then said Jesus unto His disciples, verily I say unto you that a rich man shall hardly enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. And again I say unto you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God. When His disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, who then can be saved? But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, with men this is impossible; but with GOD all things are possible."
yeah, is an eye candy (citric, LOL)... and the best is that the color scheme is faithful to the original in the actual cars... again, the old american cars were gifted many times with white interiors, specially those from the 50s... for some reason, the black or dark interiors were less desirable for the american customers !!!... =)
The orange looks more fantastic but the fire style decals make it looks ugly (in my eyes) and thus even though I don't really like silver or grey as much but in this case, I have to pick the silver/grey as my choice coz it looks more realistic.
yeah, you’re more the guy of the stock/original cars... you know that i love flames everywhere, i would put flames in a Lambo just for fun, but i would love this diecast even without its flames decor, because is truly beautiful and classy... it made my day on that stressful day actually !!! =)

My alternate blog in WordPress
From now, I will be publishing basically the same contents in both blogs, but for reviews before March 18, 2019, you must read my Blogger blog...
I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...

Viva Lasa... Better made ones by HT. Good color blending which won't make the white interior look awkward.
