ENGLISH The concept of city has been around since a long, long time... It seems for most of us a modern concept, but all the great civilizations of the past converged around political, cultural and economical centers, usually with the largest population of the whole territory of a nation, called precisely: cities or city-states.
The best way to understand a culture or civilization or age, is through a depth study of the cities, because they are small universes, massive expressions of a cluster of ideas, worldviews of a particular population, but reflected in its intricade infrastructure.
We are the children of the Industrial Revolution and this age has created its own vision of a city, a place which grows almost uncontrollably, in length and height, becoming a huge challenge for its inhabitants.
The transportation in the modern big cities, is a critical issue and the automotive industry has developed several solutions for the individual and/or family mobility, with a singular approach, which is quite different to that of the public / massive transportation.
The most reputed automakers have at least one concept vehicle, dubbed "city car" or "urban car" and is a segment in itself.
There are some essential conditions to bear in mind, in order to create a city car and all of them depend on one premise: maximum mobility with minimum impact.
I think the best way to understand what is a city car, is precisely glacing at one specific sample, the model created by a french car manufacturer: Renault...
In 1992 was launched in France, the first generation (1992-2007) of the Twingo, a city car designed by Patrick le Quément, the chief designer at that time in Renault.
This is a small car (subcompact for the standards of United States) with a fresh, rounded and cheerful design, both inside and outside, supposedly based on the Beskid, a polish prototype car created in 1982.
When I said small, I meant it, because is 3.43 m long, 1.63 m wide and 1.42 m high, but the clever use of the interior space, allows a confortable travel for four adults with average height.
It had three intermediate restylings in 1998, 2000 and 2004.
The 2004 Renault Twingo 16V Subcompact 3-Doors Hatchback received minor changes in the body, specially noticeable in the front and rear bumpers, but the whole design remained almost intact and it looks modern even nowadays.
These cars were not only small but light and hence, the powerplants available (five overall) began with a 1.0 L, D7DI4 8V petrol engine and ended up with a 1.2 L, D4FI4 16V petrol engine (all of them Inline 4 cylinders)...
Very efficient in fuel consumption, but not so brilliant in performance, which is not a priority indeed for a city car.
Let me introduce my first diecast of a french brand, which now debuts in my blog: Norev.
This brand was created in 1946 by the Veron brothers and happens to be an anagram of their surname (curious, right?).
Probably, I will share more info about this brand of diecast in future publications and you could join me...
This Twingo belongs to the Renault Toys Series, which is only available through the network of Renault dealerships (unfortunately, in my hometown, such items are not available and they must be ordered, which could be a tortuous process =/////).
I got mine with the help of a friend and fellow collector, who has the right contacts in the right places!...
This is a diecast replica of a vehicle that was produced until 2012 in my country and replaced by the Twingo 2 recently.
It was great to find a model which is so familiar for me, I mean, I wanted one of them (the actual car) since the first time I saw it.
It is fairly detailed and faithful, with a flashy paint job in glossy lime green combined with accents in flat black, there are plastic inserts for the headlights, while the tail lights were nicely painted.
It features diecast body / chassis, which is not standard in this series (and very welcome for me!), the interiors in light beige color are very nice, except for the steering wheel which looks a bit strange, it has also an awesome panoramic sunroof which can be opened (a feature that was never available in the actual models sold here), the work on the multipart chrome wheels with plastic tires is fabulous, besides, it has working suspension!... =DDDDD
Zec 7:9-13 "Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying: execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassions every man to his brother: and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart. But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the Law, and the Words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in His Spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts. Therefore it is come to pass, that as HE cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts."
Congrats to your first European diecast car which I think is a very nice piece. Twingo is pretty ideal for my country cos we have very small carpark lots. Hehe..
yeah, is great to find a diecast by a french manufacturer, because the first diecast in my infancy were made by other french diecast brand: Majorette... it brings back good memories indeed !!!...
the Twingo, being a city car, has an universal vocation so, it works pretty fine for the transportation in any city around the world... is nice, handy, affordable and a fuel saver... what else you could ask for ???... =)

My alternate blog in WordPress
From now, I will be publishing basically the same contents in both blogs, but for reviews before March 18, 2019, you must read my Blogger blog...
I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...
