Hay algunos analistas de la industria norteamericana del auto, quienes afirman que Oldsmobile gastó sus últimas dos décadas de existencia, dilapidando su grandioso legado automotriz... 

Bien, pienso que una compañía, de cualquier clase, no esta dispuesta de forma consciente a sepultarse a sí misma; pero obviamente hay personas que podrían tomar decisiones equivocadas en estas empresas y por lo tanto, condenar una marca o compañía a la extinción... 

Seamos honestos, una buena reputación es construida con decisiones acertadas y buenos productos, en ese orden, y el factor humano es esencial... 

Estoy bastante seguro, que hubo personas tomando decisiones correctas y fabricando un buen producto, cuando el Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W-30 Holiday (Techo Duro) Coupé de 1970 fue lanzado. 

Oldsmobile fue una marca de tradición, produjo automóviles de clase mundial, memorables y deseables, no podrías esperar menos del fabricante de coches más antiguo en los Estados Unidos. 

Fue capaz de satisfacer el altamente exigente segmento maduro del mercado así que, tenía un montón de experiencia en crear vehículos elegantes y de calidad. 

La tradición y excelencia fueron inherentes a esta marca y en realidad, la mayoría de personas relacionaba un Oldsmobile con "el coche de tu padre", tanto que una campaña de mercadeo "no es el Oldsmobile de tu padre" fue necesaria, con el fin de llegar a los compradores jóvenes y modernizar su imagen... 

Pero, tú no necesitas arreglar lo que ya está bien y Oldsmobile estaba haciendo un trabajo grandioso siendo leal a sus raíces. 

No obstante, lo que mucha gente no sabe, es que esta marca proveyó motores V8, con desempeño sobresaliente, mucho antes que Pontiac o Chevrolet. 

Para ser preciso, Oldsmobile fue responsable por la creación del primer V8 de válvulas en el cabezal (VEC) de producción en masa en 1949, y fue mercadeado como el Rocket V8... 

¡Este motor fue tan innovador, que no podríamos siquiera considerar la existencia de los Muscle Cars de la era dorada sin él!... 

A pesar de su trasfondo, Oldsmobile tuvo un papel directo en este segmento legendario del mercado, produciendo algunos de los más notables Muscle Cars jamás creados, pero dado que habrá otra publicación sobre esta bestia asombrosa y exquisita, deberías ser paciente para saber más sobre ella... 

Creo que este es el penúltimo diecast que fue parte de los regalos para mi cumpleaños de 2011 y un montón de modelos a escala han debutado en este blog desde esa época... 

Supongo que ya saben (quiero decir, mis visitantes regulares y fanáticos) que no soy particularmente incisivo en publicar un coleccionable en el mismo momento en que lo consigo, simplemente porque soy un coleccionista y bloguero laberíntico. 

Además, esta es una afición para mí y eso significa: algo placentero, que carece de compromisos imperiosos o fechas límite... 

Parte de ese placer, es tomarme el tiempo para escoger entre las delicadezas disponibles en este amplio mercado de las réplicas a escala en diecast. 

Tuve dificultades buscándolo cuidadosamente (aunque fue un regalo, el dador me permitió escoger lo que quería, ¡lo cual fue una buena decisión!), pero valió la pena... 

Siendo un diecast de M2 Machines, mis expectativas fueron satisfechas. 

Este Olds 442 pertenece a la Serie Detroit Muscle, que incluye varios Muscle Cars, principalmente de la Era Dorada, presentando los esquemas de color y apariencia general originales de fábrica, además viene empacado en clamshell. 

El modelo tiene el nivel de detalle excepcional hecho famoso por esta marca. 

Cuenta con carrocería y chasis en diecast (en este caso, el chasis fue pintado en negro), el trabajo de pintura en Rojo Rally es parte de las 19 opciones de color disponibles para el carro real y los tampos y/o calcomanías son fantásticos. 

Los parachoques delanteros y traseros son piezas separadas y presentan insertos plásticos para las luces. 

Hay un gran trabajo en los interiores negros y el motor, que incluye algunos toques de pintura. 

Ofrece apertura de capó y puertas, además las últimas incluyen insertos plásticos para las ventanas completas (una característica bastante inusual, en verdad). 

Las ruedas multiparte con rimes rojos y tampos plateados simulando los tapacubos plato de perro estándar y llantas de caucho con tampos de Goodyear Poly Glas blancos, junto con la clásica y maravillosa base de exhibición, hacen en conjunto de este diecast un coleccionable ideal...

There are some analysts of the american car industry, who claim that Oldsmobile spent its last two decades of existence, squandering its great automotive legacy... 

Well, I think that a company, of any kind, is not willing consciously to bury itself, but obviously there are people who could make wrong decisions in these business and hence, condemn a brand or a company to extinction... 

Let’s be honest, a good reputation is built with sound decisions and good products, in that order, and the human factor is essential... 

I’m pretty sure, there were people making right decisions and manufacturing a good product, when the 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 W-30 Holiday (Hardtop) Coupe was released. 

Oldsmobile was a brand of tradition, it produced memorable and desirable world class automobiles, you could not expect less from the oldest carmaker in the United States. 

It was able to cater the highly demanding mature segment of the market so, it had a lot of experience into create quality and stylish vehicles. 

The tradition and excellence were inherent to this brand and actually, most of the people related an Oldsmobile with "the car of your father", so much than a "not your father’s Oldsmobile" marketing campaign was necessary, in order to reach younger buyers and revamp its image... 

But, you don’t need to fix what is already fine and Oldsmobile was doing a great job being loyal to its roots. 

Nevertheless, what many people don’t know is that this brand provided V8 engines, with outstanding performance, way before than Pontiac or Chevrolet. 

To be precise, Oldsmobile was responsible for the creation of the first mass production overhead valve (OHV) V8 in 1949, and it was marketed as the Rocket V8... 

This engine was so groundbreaking that we could not even consider the existence of the Muscle Cars’ golden era without it!... 

Despite its background, Oldsmobile had a direct role in this legendary segment of the market, producing some of the most remarkable Muscle Cars ever created, but given that there will be other publication on this astonishing and exquisite beast, you should be patient to know more about it... 

I think this is the penultimate diecast which was part of the gifts for my birthday in 2011 and a lot of scale models have debuted in this blog since that time... 

I guess you already know (I mean, my regular visitors and fans) that I’m not particularly trenchant into publish a collectible at the very moment i get it, just because I’m a labyrinthine collector and blogger. 

Also, this is a hobby for me and that means: something pleasurable, which lacks of imperative compromises and deadlines... 

Part of such pleasure, is take time to choose among the delicacies available in this wide market of the diecast scale replicas. 

I had a hard time looking for it carefully (albeit it was a gift, the giver let me pick what i wanted, which was a sound decision!), but it was worth... 

Being a M2 Machines diecast, my expectations were fulfilled. 

This Olds 442 belongs to the Detroit Muscle Series, which includes several Muscle Cars, mainly from the Golden Era, featuring the original factory color schemes and general appearance, also it comes packed in clamshell. 

The model has the exceptional level of detail made famous by this brand. 

It has diecast body and chassis (in this case, the chassis was painted in black), the paint job in Rally Red is part of the 19 options of body colors available for the actual car and the tampos/decals are fantastic. 

The front and rear bumpers are separate pieces and feature plastic inserts for the lights. 

There is a great job on the black interiors and engine, which include some touches of paint. 

It offers openable hood and doors, also the latter include plastic inserts for the complete windows (a quite unusual feature indeed). 

The multipart wheels with red rims and silver tampos simulating the standard dog dish hubcaps and rubber tires with white Goodyear Poly Glas tampos, along with the classic and wonderful display base, make as a whole of this diecast replica an ideal collectible...
