1964 Volkswagen Beetle 1200 (Type 1) 2-Door Subcompact Saloon / Sedan (Mexican Taxi Beetle) 2003 Volkswagen Series 1/4 Diecast Scale 1:64 by Johnny Lightning

Pensándolo bien, no estoy del todo seguro si el orden de los modelos elegidos en la encuesta global para escoger el vehículo más influyente del siglo XX (realizada entre 1996 y 1999), es justo y consistente con la historia de la industria automotriz... 

Estoy completamente de acuerdo con el primer lugar en esta encuesta, quiero decir, el Ford Modelo T es el único automóvil que podría ocupar ese sitio... 

Pero, revisemos descarnadamente algunos de los siguientes vehículos incluidos en los primeros lugares... 

El segundo lugar fue para el Mini Cooper, ciertamente un auto distintivo, práctico y memorable, pero objetivamente, no tiene suficientes pergaminos para estar en semejante lugar de honor (lo lamento, Reino Unido)... 

El tercer lugar fue para el Citroën DS, un diseño revolucionario y futurista con la clase y belleza que la mayoría de sedanes de clase media actuales nunca tendrán, pero, con el debido respeto, no fue tan descollante como otros coches legendarios (lo lamento, Francia)... 

Y el cuarto lugar fue para el Volkswagen Escarabajo, bueno, este carro por sí solo ha sobrevivido y ha sido producido más tiempo que sus predecesores y esas razones son más que suficientes para ubicarlo segundo en esta lista, ¡en vez del Mini Cooper!... 

Honestamente, creo que hubo un criterio parcializado en el orden de esta selección y probablemente algunos hechos "un poco" desagradables en la historia y desarrollo del auto alemán para el pueblo, fueron escollos que impidieron una mejor calificación en esta encuesta global... 

Desafortunadamente, el Volkswagen Escarabajo carga con el lastre de haber sido uno de los estandartes del vergonzosamente célebre Tercer Reich, razón por la cual es mirado con cierto desdén por muchas personas, lo cual es comprensible. 

Ahora, el holocausto perpetrado principalmente contra los Judíos por el regimen Nazi, durante la II Guerra Mundial, no debe ser olvidado o tenido por una fábula, justo como algunas oscuras organizaciones quieren hacernos creer, negando el registro histórico, ¡NO!... 

Pero, a semejanza de otros conflictos armados, muchas personas nativas de Alemania no estuvieron de acuerdo con dichas prácticas aberrantes y deshumanizadas, además, algunas industrias fueron forzadas a trabajar para el Tercer Reich, manchando su reputación con la sangre de personas que supuestamente estaban por debajo de los estándares de la raza superior, pregonados por Adolfo Hitler y sus seguidores. 

Como mencioné brevemente en una publicación anterior, la fábrica de Volkswagen en Fallersleben (después rebautizada como Wolfsburg), que fue fuertemente bombardeada por los Aliados, también fue despreciada por los industriales a los cuales les fue ofrecida gratuítamente y estuvo al filo de la extinción... 

Pero a pesar de las circunstancias, fue revivida con los enfuerzos conjuntos del oficial del ejército británico, mayor Ivan Hirst y los obreros de la fábrica. 

Después de varios años aciagos, el Escarabajo alcanzó no solo una producción y distribución masiva a nivel mundial, sino también un lugar en el corazón de muchos entusiastas de los coches. 

El Volkswagen Escarabajo 1200 (Tipo 1) Berlina / Sedán Subcompacto 2 Puertas de 1964, fue parte de la progresiva mejora de un clásico intemporal, que permaneció casi intacto exteriormente, ¡pero recibió alrededor de 78.000 actualizaciones durante su producción!... 

Ya que habrán más publicaciones sobre este vehículo mítico, un puñado de detalles interesantes de su historia, desarrollo y especificaciones serán compartidas aquí así que, probablemente sería una buena idea estar conectado con este humilde blog... 

Con cada modelo de diecast que consigo del extensivo catálogo de Johnny Lightning, mi admiración por esta marca crece y las maravillas no cesan, ya que la gente que trabajó para esta compañía, estaba altamente comprometida a ofrecer artículos extraordinarios para los entusiastas de los carros y coleccionistas como yo. 

La interpretación de autos extranjeros hechos por JL (quiero decir, aquellos no fabricados en los Estados Unidos) son siempre sorprendentemente buenas, una vez conseguí mi primer modelo "importado", supe que debía arreglármelas para encontrar tantos como pudiera y bueno, con un árduo esfuerzo y los contactos correctos, esta búsqueda ha sido exitosa hasta ahora. 

El invitado para esta publicación es un Volkswagen Escarabajo de 1964 e indudablemente, la calidad en los detalles, proporción, semejanza y acabados, están por encima de mis expectativas. 

Tiene construcción completa en diecast (carrocería y chasis), todo el atractivo del Tipo 1 esta justo allí en su encantadora gloria; para el trabajo de pintura fue escogido el típico esquema de color y gráficos de un taxi mexicano (verde y blanco) justo como el real, obviamente los tampos son precisos e incluyeron el parabrisas; una algo grande pero linda señal iluminada de taxi fue insertada en el techo, los interiores en negro son muy realistas y hubo una selección refrescante en las ruedas multiparte con modernos rimes plateados y llantas plástica...

On second thought, I’m not entirely sure if the order of the models elected in the global poll to choose the most influential vehicle of the twentieth century (conducted between 1996 and 1999), is fair and consistent with the history of the automotive industry... 

I completely agree with the first place in this poll, I mean, the Ford Model T is the only automobile that could occupy that place... 

But, let’s check starkly some of the next vehicles included in the first places... 

The second place was for the Mini Cooper, certainly a distinctive, handy and memorable car, but objectively, it has not enough scrolls to be in such place of honor (sorry, United Kingdom)... 

The third place was for the Citroën DS, a revolutionary and futuristic design with the class and beauty that most of the current medium class sedans will never have, but, with all due respect, it was not as prominent as other legendary cars (sorry, France)... 

And the fourth place was for the Volkswagen Beetle, well, this car alone has survived and has been in production more time than its predecessors and those reasons are more than enough to place it second in this list, instead of the Mini Cooper!... 

Honestly, I think there was a biased criterion in the order of this selection and probably some "kinda" unpleasant facts in the history and development of the german people’s car, were pitfalls that prevented a better grade in this global poll... 

Unfortunately, the Volkswagen Beetle bears the burden of having been one of the pennants of the shamefully famous Third Reich, reason why it’s regarded with certain disdain for many people, which is understandable. 

Now, the holocaust perpetrated mainly against the Jews by the Nazi regime, during the World War II, must not be forgotten or taken as a fable, just as some obscure organizations would have us believe, denying the historical record, NO!... 

But, to similarity of other armed conflicts, many people native from Germany were not in accordance with such aberrant and dehumanized practices also, some industries were forced to work for the Third Reich, staining their reputation with the blood of people who allegedly were below the standards of the superior race, advocated by Adolf Hitler and his followers. 

As I mentioned briefly in a previous publication, the Volkswagen factory in Fallersleben (later renamed as Wolfsburg), that was heavily bombed by the Allies, also was despised by the industrialists to which it was offered for free and was in the edge of extinction... 

But despite the circumstances, it was revived with the joint efforts of the british army officer, major Ivan Hirst and the factory workers. 

After several difficult years, the Beetle achieved not only a massive production and distribution worldwide, but also a place in the heart of many car enthusiast. 

The 1964 Volkswagen Beetle 1200 (Type 1) 2 Door Subcompact Saloon / Sedan was part of a progressive improvement of this timeless classic, which remained almost intact externally, but received about 78,000 upgrades during its production!... 

Since there will be more publications on this mythical vehicle, a handful of interesting details of its history, development and specifications will be shared here so, probably it would be a good idea to stay tuned with this humble blog... 

With each diecast model I get from the extensive catalog of Johnny Lightning, my admiration for this brand grows and the wonders don’t cease, since the people who worked for this company, were highly committed to offer extraordinary items for the car enthusiasts and collectors like me. 

The renditions of foreign cars made by JL (I mean, those not manufactured in United States) are always surprisingly good, once I got my first "imported" model, I knew that I should manage to find as much as I could and well, with arduous effort and the right contacts, this quest has been successful until now. 

The guest for this publication is a 1964 Volkswagen Beetle and undoubtedly, the quality in the details, proportion, resemblance and finishes is above my expectations. 

It has full diecast construction (body and chassis), all the appeal of the Type 1 is right there in its charming glory; for the paint job it was chosen the typical color scheme and graphics of a mexican taxi (green and white) just like the real thing, obviously the tampos are accurate and included the windshield; a kinda big but nice taxi lamp signal in green was inserted on the top, the interiors in black are very realistic and there was a refreshing selection in the multipart wheels with modern silver rims and plastic tires...
