¿Alguna vez en tu vida te preguntaste seriamente, por qué sigues patrones, tendencias o regla?... 

De alguna forma, lo hacemos instintivamente todos los días, en situaciones diferentes, ya sea que estemos estudiando, trabajando, viajando, comprando, leyendo, viendo TV, comiendo o lo que sea... 

Algunas personas estarían de acuerdo en que esos patrones, tendencias o reglas, son simplemente imposiciones arbitrarias externas, que violentan tu libre albedrío y por lo tanto, son siempre perjudiciales para ti (una especie de teoría conspirativa, emparentada con la anarquía, a propósito, un par de términos que han sido ampliamente tergiversados por el establecimiento y los medios masivos: si las personas supieran lo que realmente significan, dejarían de usarlos de forma peyorativa)... 

Ya sabes que el desarrollo de nuestra individualidad, es el objetivo fundamental para todos; pero solo recuerda que somos siempre parte de una sociedad e incluso dicho objetivo es un patrón, tendencia o regla en sí mismo  =PPPPP... 

Lo que quiero decir, mis apreciados aprendices del anarquismo (¡en caso que fueras uno de esos pequeños picaruelos!), es que los patrones, tendencias y reglas son necesarios... 

¡AH!... Estoy completamente consciente que estos pueden ser buenos o malos, no es que tú debes seguirlos sin criterio, ciegamente; porque ya sea que funcione o no, fuiste dotado con una conciencia y por esa misma razón, no harás algo simplemente porque sí... 

No obstante, incluso un patrón, tendencia o regla malos son necesarios, porque te forzarán a usar ese órgano esponjoso e intrincado dentro de tu cabeza; con el fin de preguntarte si realmente los obedecerás o no, por una razón consciente, también cuál será el impacto de esa decisión en tu vida y la vida de las personas que te rodean... 

¿Y por qué todas estas divagaciones están brotando aquí, como si este fuera una especie de sitio web para breves discusiones sobre filosofía de la cultura?... 

Bueno, eso es probablemente porque el dueño de este humilde blog tiene una mente bastante inquieta y su afición le permite usarla cada vez que publica aquí (ya sé que es algo raro hablar sobre tí mismo en tercera persona... Pero ¡ey!... Ese soy yo y no estoy planeando cambiar, en ese sentido =PPPPP)... 

Mi punto es que en el coleccionismo, como en cualquier otra actividad auto-motivada, hay algunos patrones, tendencias o reglas y están bien, ya que establecen un conjunto de parámetros para una comunidad de coleccionistas. 

Pero date cuenta que hago énfasis en "actividad auto-motivada", simplemente porque debes tener criterios para coleccionar; de otra forma, serás un simple comprador compulsivo, de esos que contribuyen a las finanzas de los fabricantes de coleccionables, pero que contribuyen muy poco o nada a esta afición; aún peor, quizás terminas convirtiéndote en algo más: un acaparador / especulador, una de esas personas repulsivas que pervierten esta afición, haciéndose pasar por coleccionistas y/o vendedores honestos... 

Sin embargo, algunas reglas fueron hechas para romperse, como aquellas que de algún modo pretenden guiarte, sobre "qué debes coleccionar"... 

Personalmente, las tomo como simples sugerencias y algunas veces son útiles, pero no son camisas de fuerza para mí. 

Si alguien quiere coleccionar solamente modelos a escala realistas y precisos, ¡fabuloso, felicitaciones!... 

En cuanto a mí, me gustan también, pero algunas veces prefiero los modelos de diseñador y en realidad, los considero autos conceptuales, a diferencia de otros coleccionistas que los consideran "infantiles" o "irrelevantes"... 

De hecho, son la excusa perfecta para mostrar esa increíble sinergia entre emoción y razón, que ya mencioné en una publicación previa. 

Por ejemplo, encontré esta joya mientras estaba visitando un amigo, colega coleccionista e importador, olvidada y/o despreciada por otros y fue uno de esos casos de amor a primera vista... 

No tuve que pensar mucho sobre esto y el precio estaba bien para mí; pero la historia no termina allí y a través de otro apreciado amigo y proveedor, me las arreglé para conseguir tres versiones adicionales de este espléndido modelo. 

Aunque supuestamente es un molde "no licenciado", en realidad su licencia pertenece a Hot Wheels y es uno de sus desarrollos exclusivos; el diseñador a cargo de este modelo no podía ser otro que mi apreciado Larry Wood quien, como ferviente amante de los clásicos de la industria automotriz, fue inspirado por el enorme y extremadamente elegante Cadillac Serie 61 Sedanette 2 Puertas (Fastback) de 1950. 

Obvio, hubo una considerable personalización en la cual la altura fue substancialmente rebajada, como un Lowrider extremo; el techo fue cortado y "esculpido" en una suave curva hacia la parte de atrás, una sutil aleta, así como un par de diminutas ventanas, como ojos de buey, fueron añadidas; los guardafangos traseros fueron simplificados, con la silueta de una lágrima; el frente fue alargado, un par de motores enormes brotan del capó, junto con exhostos a juego a cada lado y un trabajo especial en la parrilla frontal, con rejillas como dientes, completan la pinta feroz y surrealista que ganó mi corazón ♥♥♥♥♥... 

Este molde fue apodado Evil Twin muy apropiadamente y ha sido producido consistentemente desde su lanzamiento en 2001, casi sin interrupciones... 

La primera versión que conseguí pertenece precisamente a la Serie First Editions, parte de las líneas Regulares; tiene carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico negro; los insertos plásticos para los motores, los exhostos, la parrilla frontal y un par de adornos como balas en la cola, son cromados; el trabajo de pintura en púrpura con acabado Metalflake es complementado por tampos para las luces delanteras, un par de adornos en los guardafangos traseros, la placa y las luces de cola; tiene interiores en beige con insertos cromados, ventanas ahumadas y las ruedas tienen diseño Wire Spoke Lace Wheels en cromado para los rimes. 

La segunda pertenece a la Línea Principal; muchas características son prácticamente identicas al anterior, pero el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en dorado con acabado Metalflake; los interiores son blancos y las ruedas con diseño Wire Spoke Lace Wheels para los rimes, son doradas. 

El tercero, pertenece a la Serie Hot Wheels Originals, una línea Adulta hecha exclusivamente para Target; venía dentro de un clamshell, con detalles en relieve; los cambios, comparado con los mencionados anteriormente, aparte del empaque, son en el trabajo de pintura en blanco, con un rico acabado perlado y las fantásticas calcomanías usadas para la decoración con llamas, delineadas en azul cian con un degradé de amarillo a rojo, sobre el capó y los paneles laterales, además complementadas por tampos para las luces delanteras, un par de adornos en los guardafangos laterales y las luces de cola; los interiores son rojos, las ventanas son transparentes, las ruedas son multiparte con diseño 5 Spoke Pro Circuit en cromado para los rimes y llantas plásticas. 

El cuarto pertenece a la Serie Wastelanders, parte de las líneas Regulares; a diferencia de los otros, el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en burgundy con acabado Metalflake y tribales alargados como decoración, en burgundy claro con acabado perlado, sobre el techo y los paneles laterales, además es complementado por tampos para un par de adornos en los guardafangos traseros, la aleta sobre el techo y la placa; los interiores son blancos, las ventanas son transparentes y las ruedas tienen diseño Wire Spoke Lace Wheels en cromado para los rimes. 

Como dato curioso, todos ellos tienen chasis en plástico negro y fueron hechos en Malasia...

Have you ever in your life asked yourself seriously, why you follow patterns, tendencies or rules?... 

Somehow, we do it almost instinctively everyday, in different situations, either we are studying, working, traveling, shopping, reading, watching TV, eating or whatever... 

Some people would agree that those patterns, tendencies or rules, are just external arbitrary impositions, that violate your freewill and hence, these are always harmful for you (a sort of conspiracy theory, akin to anarchy, by the way, a pair of terms that have been widely misrepresented by the establishment and the mass media: if people knew what they really mean, they would stop using them pejoratively)... 

You already know that the development of our individuality, is the ultimate goal for everyone; but just remember that we are always part of the society and even such goal is a pattern, trend or rule in itself =PPPPP... 

What I mean, my appreciated anarchism apprentices (in case you were one of those lil’ rogues!), is that the patterns, tendencies and rules are necessary... 

OH!... I’m fully aware these can be good or bad, is not that you must follow them without criterion, blindly; because either it works or not, you are gifted with an awareness and for that very reason, you will not do something just because... 

Nonetheless, even bad or wrong patterns, trends or rules are necessary, because they will force you to use that spongy and intricate organ inside your head; in order to ask yourself if you really will obey them or not, for a conscious reason, also what will be the impact of this decision in your life and the life of the people around you... 

And why all these ramblings are sprouting here, as if this were a sort of website for brief discussions about philosophy of culture?... 

Well, that’s probably because the owner of this humble blog has a quite restless mind and his hobby lets him use it each time he publish here (I know is kinda weird to talk about yourself in third person... But hey!... That’s me and I’m not planning to change, in that sense =PPPPP)... 

My point is that in the collectionism, as in any other self-motivated activity, there are some patterns, tendencies or rules and these are fine, since they establish a set of parameters for a community of collectors. 

But do notice that I emphasize "self-motivated activity", just because you must have  criteria to collect; otherwise, you will be a simple compulsive buyer, one of those who contribute to the finances of collectibles manufacturers, but who contribute very little or nothing to this hobby; even worse, perhaps you end up becoming something else: a hoarder / scalper, one of those repulsive people that pervert this hobby, impersonating collectors and/or honest sellers...

However, some rules are made to be broken, like those that somehow pretend to guide you, about "what you must collect"... 

Personally, I take them as simple suggestions and sometimes they are useful, but they’re not strait jackets for me. 

If someone wants to collect only realistic and accurate scale models, great, congratulations !!!... 

As for me, I like them too, but sometimes I prefer designer’s models and actually I consider them concept cars, unlike other collectors who consider them "childish" or "irrelevant"... 

In fact, they are the perfect excuse to show that incredible synergy between emotion and reason, that I already mentioned in a previous publication. 

For instance, I found this gem while I was visiting a friend, fellow collector and importer, forgotten and/or despised by others and it was one of those cases of love at first sight... 

I didn’t have to think much about it and the price was just fine for me; but the story ain’t end there and through another appreciated friend and provider, I managed to get three additional versions of this gorgeous model. 

Although is allegedly a "not licensed" mold, actually its license belongs to Hot Wheels and is one of its exclusive developments; the designer in charge of this model could not be other than my appreciated Larry Wood who, as fervent lover of the classics of the automotive industry, was inspired by the huge and extremely elegant 1950 Cadillac Series 61 2-Door Sedanette (Fastback). 

Obviously, there was a heavy customization in which the height was substantially lowered, like an extreme Lowrider; the top was chopped and "sculpted" in a smooth curve towards the back, a subtle fin as well as a pair of tiny windows, like portholes, were added; the rear fenders were simplified, with the shape of a teardrop; the front was elongated, a pair of huge engines sprout from the hood, along with matching exhausts on either side and a special work on the front grille, with grids like teeth, complete the ferocious and surrealistic look that won my heart ♥♥♥♥♥... 

This cast was dubbed very appropriately Evil Twin and has been produced consistently since its release in 2001, almost without gaps... 

The first version I got belongs precisely to the First Editions Series, part of the Regular lines; it has diecast body and black plastic chassis; the plastic inserts for the engines, the exhausts, the front grille and a pair of bullet-like trims in the tail are chrome; the paint job in purple with Metalflake finishing is complemented by tampos for the head lights, a pair of trims on the rear fenders, the plate and the tail lights; it has interiors in beige with chrome inserts, smoked windows and the wheels have Wire Spoke Lace Wheels design in chrome for the rims. 

The second one, belongs to the Mainline; many features are virtually identical to the previous one, but the paint job was made in golden with Metalflake finishing; the interiors are white and the wheels with Wire Spoke Lace Wheels design for the rims are golden. 

The third one, belongs to the Hot Wheels Originals Series, an Adult line made exclusively for Target; it came inside a clamshell with details embossed; the changes compared with the above mentioned, apart from the packaging, are in the paint job in white with a rich pearlescent finishing and the terrific decals used for the decoration with flames, outlined in cyan with a gradient from yellow to red, on the hood and the side panels, also complemented by tampos for the head lights, a pair of trims on the rear fenders and the tail lights; the interiors are red, the windows are clear, the wheels are multipart with 5 Spoke Pro Circuit desing in chrome for the rims and plastic tires. 

The fourth one, belongs to the Wastelanders Series, part of the Regular lines; unlike the others, the paint job was made in burgundy with Metalflake finishing and elongated tribal as decoration, in light burgundy with pearlescent finishing, on the top and the side panels, also is complemented by tampos for a pair of trims on the rear fenders, the fin on the top and the plate; the interiors are white, the windows are clear and the wheels have Wire Spoke Lace Wheels design in chrome for the rims. 

As a curiosity, all of them have black plastic chassis and were made in Malaysia...
