2008 Dodge XP-07 Hot Wheels Concept Car 2008 Designer’s Challenge Series Diecast No Scale by Hot Wheels

No sé...

ENGLISH
I don’t know... Maybe it will sound ironic, specially after I finished a group of publications on a complete series released by Johnny Lightning to celebrate its 40th Anniversary (1969-2009), but barely a year before the latter diecast manufacturer began its history, Hot Wheels was born, I mean, in 1968.

Well, HW had its 40th Anniversary in 2008 (WOW! What a great discovery, man! You’re a genius with the numbers!... Yeah, whatever =PPPPP).

They celebrated in their own way, made some calls, contacted some automakers and asked them to create a concept car inspired in the legacy of Hot Wheels and a vision of the future.

Seven cars were created for this Designer’s Challenge and I must say that all of them are pieces of art on wheels.

Lotus, Mitsubishi, Ford, Honda, General Motors, Dodge and Hot Wheels itself put their cards on the table and individual 1:5 scale models were made as evidence of this feat.

I miss in such selection, some awesome European brands, but I guess that seven is a "special" number.

I remember a friend of mine and fellow collector was offering a complete boxset, one of those limited editions (10,000 boxsets worldwide) and he told me that it was published for a long time but no one seemed to be interested, so I asked (because I WAS INTERESTED) if there was any chance for me to get it and he replied something like: "I’m sorry but I decided to keep it for my collection..." ;(((((...

I thought to myself "you cannot have everything you want" but he was kind enough to show me part of his great collection and we shared some thoughts and opinions about our hobby... It was a nice meeting after all =D.

At least, I managed to get one of these models, The Dodge XP-07 Concept Car designed by Marc Reisen, precisely when I began to collect diecast vehicles again.

The car itself says: "power, speed and bite my... Dust", it has an excellent mold for this scale, a sumptuous paint job and even the card has a distinctive design...

I just love concept cars!...

May the Grace of the Almighty GOD reaches more people around the world is my wish for all... Hope to see you next week... =)

Great concept car like one that would appear in scientific movies like 'Minority Report' or 'Total Recall'. Good curves, sleek and pack with velocity. Even the headlights look as though they are gattling guns.

as far as i know the designer of this concept car had in mind a turbine engine, so that explains the big exhaust on the rear... a similar concept is reproduced on the front with the headlights to reinforce the feeling of speed... the design combines perfectly the look retro with something futuristic, it’s plain fantastic !!!... again pal, you have a good taste i must say XDDDD... THX for your loyal support... =)

this car is very futuristic for my taste.. as you know I love classics though it is looking good in red. HW did a great paint job on this one.

congrats on this haul :D

well, if you stick to the past is fine pal, actually i love the oldies and they’re beautiful in their particular way... but i like the concept/futuristic cars as well, specially those that take some elements of the classic designs to reinterpret them... there is something anachronic in these concept vehicles... i remember an oldie that appears in Ghost in the Shell, that’s what i call anachronism... glad that you like it anyway and THX for your visit =)

with the futuristic theme... I think this looks kind of cool... this car must be very powerful and fast if they really produce the real one....

actually the 1:5 scale model that were made for this challenge looks pretty realistic (you can watch it clicking in the link "Dodge XP-07")... if it were made a functional 1:1 scale replica, it would be powerful for sure, with a turbine engine inside which would crush you against the seat... i guess you like it, right ??? =)
