Ahhh, los 50s... ¡Qué época tan maravillosa!... 

Después de los estragos de la II Guerra Mundial, la gente quería soñar de nuevo, esperaban tiempos mejores. 

Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, las Chicas Pin-Up, el Arte Pop vs el Expresionismo Abstracto, los colores pastel, los enfrentamientos entre el Socialismo y el Capitalismo, el inicio de la Carrera Espacial... 

Esta década tiene un montón de acontecimientos y personajes que marcaron una ruptura con el pasado reciente y por supuesto, es una época llena de coches hermosos. 

Por el tiempo en que GM lanzó el Corvette (1953), hubo serias intenciones de diseñar un contendor directo en la casa matriz de Ford Motor Company. 

El primer intento, fue un roadster deportivo de dos sillas, con estilo europeo conocido como Ford Vega (tenía una semejanza con el roadster británico MG de los 50s), pero el alto costo para el cliente final combinado con un motor lánguido, fueron considerados una desventaja real y nunca superó la etapa de auto conceptual. 

La segunda fue la vencida y después de un rápido desarrollo, el primer Thunderbird "vió la luz" en 1955. 

El nombre de este auto, que recuerda una criatura mitológica en el imaginario de los indígenas norteamericanos, no estaba incluido en la lista de nombres propuestos (alrededor de mil) y fue aceptado inmediatamente (eso es bastante normal en el mundo del mercadeo @.@). 

Aunque el Corvette estaba en mente durante la creación del Thunderbird, éste último no tenía por objeto ser un roadster deportivo sino más bien, un auto personal de lujo y lo más gracioso de esto, es que el T-Bird tenía un tren de potencia mejor que el del Vette por lo cual, imagino que tenía un mejor desempeño a pesar de su mayor tamaño y peso. 

El diseño es absolutamente cautivante, tan elegante y limpio, con la dosis correcta de cromo, el trabajo en el frente es simplemente imponente... 

Es decir, ¡es demasiado espléndido para ser tan egoísta!... 

Realmente, en mi humilde opinión, la primera generación (1955-1957) junto con la tercera, fueron las más hermosas en toda la historia de este vehículo. 

Para el Ford Thunderbird de 1957, el diseño fue afinado y la opción de un techo duro en fibra de vidrio con ventanillas circulares fue añadida a la ya larga lista de comodidades (apropiadas para un auto de lujo). 

El departamento de motores fue suficientemente generoso como para ajustar un motor de 312 pulgadas cúbicas, 5.1 L, V8, que acoplado a un supercargador Paxton, podía entregar 300 hp, ¡grandioso!... 

Aquí vamos de nuevo con un knock-out triple de la mano de Hot Wheels. 

Tres versiones del mismo modelo que pertenecen a diferentes series, donde el T-Bird del 57 está muy bien retratado, gracias al trabajo de Larry Wood y Bob Rosas. 

El resultado es atractivoe y está acompañado por lindos trabajos de pintura y decoraciones, el diseño de los rimes es un complemento perfecto. 

Todos ellos presentan carrocería en diecast con chasis en plástico cromado, pero el de la Serie Auto Milestones (segundo de arriba hacia abajo) tiene llantas tipo Real Riders, que combinadas con un esquema de color de dos tonos, le dan un look muy clásico. 

Los T-Birds de líneas Regulares vienen en tarjeta normal pero el de línea Adulta viene en clamshell de lujo, como podría esperarse de una línea para coleccionista. 

Si fueron lo suficientemente cuidadosos, pudieron notar que uno de ellos (el primero de arriba hacia abajo) tiene el techo duro sin las ventanillas circulares, porque fue hecho en Malasia donde, para ahorrar costos, fueron omitidas. 

Los otros fueron hechos en Tailandia =OOOOO...

Ohhh, the 50s... What a wonderful time!... 

After the ravages of the World War II, the people wanted to dream again, they hoped for better times. 

Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, the Pin-Up Girls, the Pop Art vs the Abstract Expressionism, the pastel colors, the clashes between Communism and Capitalism, the beginning of the Space Race... 

This decade has a lot of events and personalities that marked a rupture with the recent past and of course, is a decade full of beautiful cars. 

By the time GM launched the Corvette (1953), there were serious intentions to design a direct contender in the headquarters of Ford Motor Company. 

The first attempt, was a two-seat sport roadster with European style known as Ford Vega (it had a resemblance with the British MG roadster of the 50s), but the high cost for the final customer combined with a languid engine, were considered a real drawback and it never exceeded the concept car stage. 

The second time was the charm and after a fast development, the first Thunderbird "saw the light" in 1955. 

The name of this car, which reminds a mythological creature in the imaginarium of the indigenous people of North America, was not included in the list of proposed names (around thousand) and it was accepted immediately (that’s pretty normal in the marketing world @.@). 

Although the Corvette was in mind during the creation of the Thunderbird, the latter was not aimed to be a sport roadster but rather a personal luxury car and the funnier thing about it, is that the T-Bird had a better powertrain than the Vette so, I guess it had a better performance despite the greater size and weight. 

The design is absolutely captivating, so sleek and neat, with the right dose of chromed trims, the work on the front is simply awesome... 

I mean, is too gorgeous to be so selfish!... 

Actually, in my humble opinion, the first generation (1955-1957) along with the third, were the most beautiful in the whole history of this vehicle. 

For the 1957 Ford Thunderbird, the design was refined and an option of a removable fiberglass hard roof with circular portholes was added to the already long list of amenities (proper for a luxury car). 

The engines department was generous enough to fit a 312 cu in, 5.1 L, V8 engine which coupled with a Paxton supercharger, could deliver 300 hp, great!... 

Here we go again with a triple knock-out from the hands of Hot Wheels. 

Three versions of the same model belonging to different series, where the ’57 T-Bird is very well depicted, thanks to the work of Larry Wood y Bob Rosas. 

The outcome is appealing and it’s accompanied by nice paint jobs and decors, and the wheels design is a perfect complement. 

All of them feature diecast body with plastic chrome chassis, but the one of the Auto Milestones Series (second from top to bottom) has Real Riders type tires which combined with a two tone color scheme, give it a very classic look. 

The T-Birds from the Regular lines come in the normal card but the one from an Adult line comes in a deluxe clamshell, as you can expect from a collector’s line. 

If you were careful enough, you could notice that one of them (the first from top to bottom) have the hard roof without the circular portholes, because it was made in Malaysia where, in order to save costs, they were omitted. 

The others were made in Thailand =OOOOO...
