Indudablemente Volkswagen es uno de los fabricantes de autos más influentes en todo el mundo.
Sin embargo, su camino al éxito estuvo lejos de ser fácil, especialmente después de la II Guerra Mundial.
El lastre de haber estado involucrada en la producción de vehículos militares para el Tercer Reich y haber usado mano de obra esclava, casi llevo a la desaparición esta compañía.
Fue ofrecida, incluso gratuitamente, a los dueños de los principales constructores de coches de los Aliados, y todos ellos pensaron que la compañía no valía un comino, básicamente...
Eso es lo que yo llamaría la perdición para cualquier empresa.
Pero Volkswagen resurgió de las cenizas y hoy es el más grande fabricante alemán de carros y el segundo más grande del mundo.
VW ha creado algunos de los autos más famosos de la historia y bueno, es algo que puedes esperar cuando un montón de dinero es invertido en investigación y desarrollo, como en su caso.
Uno de esos modelos es la Volkswagen Tipo 2 (lo cual suena para mí bastante racional / frío... Y luego la gente pregunta ¿por qué existen los estereotipos?... HOHOHO), también conocida como la designación interna para las vagonetas panel, microbuses, camionetas pickup de cama plana y sus derivadas.
La Tipo 2 T1 (donde T1 es equivalente a primera generación), es la más icónica de la serie Tipo 2 y fue producida desde 1950 hasta 1967.
Su diseño es increíblemente simple (eso es lo que un diseño grandioso te hace creer, a primera vista...) pero increíblemente versátil también.
Sobre la misma plataforma, fueron creadas muchas variaciones para satisfacer diferentes necesidades y todo fue hecho con base en una construcción modular.
Un dato curioso sobre este modelo, específicamente la Camioneta Volkswagen Pickup de Cama Plana (también aplicable a la VW Vagoneta Panel) es que desde principios de la década de los 60s, un impuesto del 25% fue aplicado en los E.E.U.U.A. a las camionetas livianas importadas de Europa y esa en la razón por la cual es extremadamente raro ver estas Pickups VW (o Vagonetas Panel) en el territorio norteamericano...
Esta es una publicación muy especial para mí, no solo por el modelo en sí (basado probablemente en una Camioneta Pickup de Cama Plana Volkswagen de 1960, modificada como una Dragster), sino porque fue una de las primeras razones por la cual comencé a apreciar de forma completamente diferente los productos diecast de Hot Wheels.
La decisión de compra fue todo menos sencilla, porque su costo fue mucho más de lo que estaba acostumbrado a pagar por un modelo HW así que, ¡hice mi propia investigación y descubrí un universo de pequeños tesoros!...
Entonces, llegó a ser parte de mi colección y es uno de los diseños de Phil Riehlman.
Pertenece a la Serie Hot Wheels Classic, otra línea Adulta que presenta una construcción en diecast de carrocería / chasis (bastante pesada), un impresionante nivel de detalle y trabajo de pintura en naranja, con acabado Spectraflame complementado por una decoración en blanco.
La cama plana puede ser abierta, levantando la cubierta translúcida en tono ahumado, impresa agradablemente con un logo de VW, para revelar un imponente motor doble con un exhosto enorme... ¡Hablando de exageracione!...

Undoubtedly Volkswagen is one of the most influential car manufacturers around the world.
However, its way to success was far from easy, specially after the World War II.
The burden of having been involved in the production of military vehicles for the Third Reich and having used slave labor, almost led to the demise this company.
It was offered, even for free, to the owners of the main car makers of the Allies, and all of them thought that the company was not worth a damn, basically...
That’s what I would call the doom for any company.
But Volkswagen resurfaced from the ashes and today is the biggest german automaker and the second biggest automaker in the world.
VW has created some of the most famous vehicles in the history and well, is something you can expect when a lot of money is invested on research and development, as in its case.
One of those models is the Volkswagen Type 2 (which sounds for me quite rational / cold... And then the people ask why there are stereotypes?... HOHOHO), also known as the internal designation for the panel vans, microbuses, flatbed pickup trucks and their derivatives.

This is a very special publication for me, not only for the model itself (based probably on a 1960 Volkswagen Flatbed Pickup Truck, modified as a Dragster) but because it was one of the first reasons why I began to appreciate in a whole different way the Hot Wheels diecast products.
The purchase decision was anything but easy, because its cost was much more than I was used to pay for a HW model so, I made my own research and discovered an universe of small treasures!...
Then it became part of my collection and it’s one of the designs by Phil Riehlman.
It belongs to the Hot Wheels Classic Series, another Adult line which features a diecast body / chassis construction (quite heavy), an impressive level of detail and paint job in orange with Spectraflame finishing complemented by a white decor.
The flatbed can be opened raising the translucent plastic cover in smoky tone, printed nicely with a VW logo, to reveal and awesome double engine with a huge exhaust... Talking about exaggerations!...

My first impression if I don't read the title is surely this is Volkswagen and I am right about it though this seems to be a heavily modified version for a drag racing... sigh... the people who did that must be really crazy about speed...
totally nuts, yeah !!!... the drag racing enthusiasts can transform almost any car into a drag monster... in fact the different models by Volkswagen seem to have huge club of fans and i have seen many examples, they look awesome in tha drag suit !!! =)
...bueno mijo no siendo mas en este momento me dispongo a pegarme un paseito de olla pa ñlas piedras del tunjo con mis nuevos parceros... rigby y mordekay nos unio casualmente el gusto por este modelo de VW en especial eso si les dije que pilas con sus chocoaventuras que la nave ud me la presto y que ud me la recomendo que no queria ni un rayoncito en semejante vave... cualquien cosa si llega a sucederle algo mijo fresco que le tengo el latonero pa esas vueltas bravas... y un buen tarrro de ruby... nuevamente me sorprende ijo pero como yo soy muy jodon espero algun dia ver este VW pero en una escala mas grande mijo que se yo tal vez 1:24 o 1.:18 ... hagale sin miedito o que eres de aquellos palomos que al volar se c... jajajajajajajajajajajajajaaja...
a ese par de garbimbas me las debe tener bien controladas, porque con lo caspas que son, depronto van y me hacen un mal... y con lo delicado que soy con eso, mínimo se ganan 30 puñaladas en un ojo (y un coñazo en el otro)... grrrrrrr !!!
pero sí llegare a necesitar un trabajito de latonería, cuidadito con que le metan hueso duro, como a los taxis... el man que haga la vuelta tiene que ser por el orden de Jesse James o Chip Foose... de resto, prefiero mandarlo a mi taller de confianza y pasarle la "facturita" HOHOHO...
oigame, pues sip, como jodoncito el paciente... pero la verdad podría poner muy en duda ver algo de VW (o cualquier otra marca) en otra escala que no sea 1:64, en especial ahora con esta abundancia de escasez... DIOS mediante, amanecerá y veremos... =(((((
Unbelievable that such a car existed and to know that its by Volkswagen. That is some history lesson on vehicle. The design is very out of the box..
Volkswagen is revolutionary in many ways and as any car manufacturer, has its own history, its ups and downs and they were involved in the 20’s century wars for good or for bad...
the creators of the VW Flatbed Pickup Truck never saw it as something different to an utilitary vehicle, but the fanatics of the drag racing never despised its potential to be an outrageous drag vehicle and this one has the top chopped and just one seat for the pilot (among other modifications)... well, that’s all about drag racing !!! =)
