1999 Rareflow Hot Wheels Concept Car by Ed Newton 2000 Hot Wheels 100% Series -Limited Edition for the Adult Collector- Diecast No Scale by Hot Wheels

El apellido Newton tiene una gran reputación, gracias a unos cuantos portadores ilustres en nuestra historia... 

Podría mencionar a sir Isaac Newton, uno de los científicos más influyentes de todos los tiempos... 

Su contribución a la física y matemática modernas es invaluable, a pesar del hecho que, en su propia época, fue considerado un filósofo natural... 

Aún más, a diferencia de muchos científicos, antiguos y contemporáneos, él tenía no solo una inteligencia privilegiada, sino que también fue dotado con sabiduría... 

La mayoría de personas involucradas en la ciencia están llenas de arrogancia, simplemente porque descubren patrones y leyes que rigen un intrincado universo que siempre está más allá de sus cálculos; pero en vez de adorar al DIOS que con magnificencia y perfección hizo todas estas maravillas y sostiene este cosmos con el poder de Su Palabra, prefieren atribuir el orden y complejidad extraordinarios de las cosas que existen a una oscura fuerza impersonal, escondida en sus fórmulas... 

Ellos piensan que ponen en entredicho Su Existencia, cuando en realidad solo hacen más evidente parte de la magnitud de Su Poder... 

No obstante, sir Isaac Newton, habiendo descubierto la fina mecánica detrás de las leyes de la naturaleza y contemplando la gloria de la creación, buscó y encontró a su Autor en la Biblia y estuvo en la presencia de un conocimiento que es más sublime y supera con creces cualquier cosa lograda por el intelecto humano, algo que OBVIAMENTE no es bastante sabido... 

Pero, hay otro ilustre portador de este apellido, quien sucede que es el motivo de esta publicación: Ed Newton. 

Probablemente, no has escuchado nada sobre él y hay una razón para eso: él ha preferido mantener un perfil bajo, quizás huyendo del estrellato con el fin de mantener su mente clara, abierta para ideas maravillosas y su carácter humilde, para saber su lugar en el mundo. 

Pocas personas lo conocen como un diseñador / estilista de autos, pero yo diría que él es simplemente un diseñador, en el sentido amplio del término. 

Ed comenzó su vocación de la mano de otra leyenda de la Kultura Kustom (contemporáneo de los hermanos Barris: George y Sam): "Big Daddy" Ed Roth. 

Sus primeros trabajos estaban relacionados con aerografiar (por-demanda) las criaturas salvajes concebidas por Roth sobre camisetas, conocidas como "camisetas bicho raro", en una forma de arte comercial o cultura popular que fue inherente a los movimientos Kustom y Hot Rod en los 50s y 60s. 

Pero él no estuvo involucrado solamente en la creación de camisetas "kustomizadas", no... 

¡Ed Newton fue como la "mano derecha" de Roth en el diseño / dibujo de sus Karros Kustom (algunos de los más bizarros y llamativos)!... 

Este increíble y con todo discreto diseñador, fue invitado por Hot Wheels a crear una serie especial para la línea 100%, llamada Ed Newton’s Lowboyz, consistente en tres autos conceptuales. 

Uno de ellos es el modelo que estoy publicando hoy, apodado Rareflow. 

Como dice la caja que lo contiene, en este fantástico diecast está representada la visión de este creador "quien tiene sus ojos en el futuro y su corazón en el pasado". 

El diseño tiene elementos de los Hot Rods, la Kultura Kustom, los Lowriders, los autos conceptuales de los 50s, lo kitsch / abigarrado de los 60s y el aire en conjunto es retrofuturista, dúlcemente anacrónico, salvaje y refinado, una digna idea original de "Newt". 

Hasta donde sé, este coche conceptual no ha sido reproducido a tamaño completo hasta ahora, pero en dicho caso, no sería demasiado grande (incluí un Chevy Corvette de 1982, también de la línea Hot Wheels 100%, para una comparación de tamaño, asumiendo que fuera hecho en escala 1:64... 

Sin embargo, en mi opinión, podría ser más grande, justo como un Mercury Club Coupé de 1949 o algo por el estilo y por lo tanto, la escala podría ser más pequeña). 

Siendo parte del tope de línea en HW o de la única línea Premium que esta marca ofrece, tiene carrocería y chasis en diecast, pero el techo fue hecho en plástico transparente, debido a su diseño extremo. 

Está finamente detallado dondequiera que mires y obviamente los trabajos de pintura / tampos son espléndidos, presentando un blanco plano brillante combinado con naranja en acabado camaleón y acentos curvilíneos púrpura / negro, el chasis está pintado en negro con detalles en plateado (hay tres esquemas de color disponibles y este es el mejor para mi gusto)... 

Tiene apertura de capó con motor detallado, los interiores son negros, muy bien moldeados aunque apenas visibles en las fotografías y ruedas diminutas multiparte especialmente diseñadas con llantas de caucho y rimes cromados realistas. 

Por último aunque no menos importante, esta Serie incluye una urna acrílica que protege bastante bien este precioso modelo (mucho, mucho mejor que cualquier caja, clamshell o tarjeta... Que, en todo caso, no están destinadas / diseñadas para mantener dentro sus diecast indefinidamente, como muchos compradores piensan erróneamente... Créanme, como diseñador gráfico, yo si sé sobre empaques =PPPPP)...

The Newton surname has a great reputation, thanks to some illustrious holders in our history... 

I could mention sir Isaac Newton, one of the most influential scientists of all times... 

His contribution to the modern physics and mathematics is invaluable, despite the fact that, in his own time, he was considered a natural philosopher... 

All the more, unlike many scientists, old and contemporary, he had not only a privileged intelligence, but also he was gifted with wisdom... 

Most of people involved in science are filled with arrogance, just because they discover patterns and laws that rule an intricate universe which is always beyond their calculations; but instead of worship the GOD who with magnificence and perfection has made all these wonders and sustain this cosmos with the power of His Word, they prefer to deny His existence, attributing the extraordinary order and complexity of the things that exist to an obscure impersonal force, hidden in their formulas... 

They think that they are calling into question His Existence, when actually they just make more evident part of the magnitude of His Power... 

Nevertheless, sir Isaac Newton, having discovered the fine mechanics behind the laws of nature and contemplating the glory of the creation, sought and found its Author in the Bible and was in the presence of a knowledge which is more sublime and overcome by far anything achieved by the human intellect, something that OBVIOUSLY is not fairly known... 

But, there is another illustrious holder of this surname, who happens to be the reason of this publication: Ed Newton. 

Probably, you haven’t heard anything about him and there is a reason for that: he has preferred to keep a low profile, perhaps running away from the stardom in order to keep his mind clear, open for wonderful ideas and his character humble, to know his place in the world. 

Few people know him as a car designer / stylist, but I would say he’s simply a designer, in the wide sense of the term. 

Ed began his vocation hand in hand with another legend of the Kustom Kulture (contemporary of the Barris brothers: George and Sam): "Big Daddy" Ed Roth. 

His first works were related with airbrushing (by-demand) the wild creatures conceived by Roth on T-shirts, known as "Weirdo shirts", in a form of commercial art or popular culture that was inherent to the Kustom and Hot Rod movements in the 50s and 60s. 

But he was not only involved with the creation of "kustomized" T-shirts, no... 

Ed Newton was like the "right hand" of Roth in the design / sketching of his Kustom Kars (some of the most bizarre and stricking)... 

This incredible and yet inconspicuous designer, was invited by Hot Wheels to create a special series for the 100% line called Ed Newton’s Lowboyz, consisting of three concept cars. 

One of them is the model I’m publishing today, dubbed Rareflow. 

As the box containing it says, in this fantastic diecast model is represented the vision of this creator "who has his eyes on the future and his heart in the past". 

The design has elements from the Hot Rods, the Kustom Kulture, the Lowriders, the concept cars of the 50s, the kitsch of the 60s and the whole feeling is retrofuturistic, sweetly anachronistic, wild and refined, a worthy brainchild of "Newt". 

As far as I know, this concept car has not been reproduced in full scale so far, but in such case, it wouldn’t be too big (I included a 1982 Chevy Corvette from the Hot Wheels 100% line also, for a size comparison, assuming that it were made in 1:64 scale... However, in my opinion, it could be bigger, just like 1949 Mercury Club Coupe or something like that and hence, the scale could be smaller). 

Being part of the top of the line in HW or the only Premium line this brand offers, it has diecast body and chassis, but the top was made in clear plastic due to its extreme design. 

It’s finely detailed everywhere you see and obviously the paint / pad printing jobs are gorgeous, featuring a plain glossy white combined with orange in chameleon finishing and purple / black curvy accents, the chassis is painted in black with details in silver (there are three color schemes available and this is the best for my taste)... 

It has openable hood with detailed engine, the interiors are black, very well molded albeit hardly visible in the pictures and tiny specially designed multipart wheels with rubber tires and realistic chrome rims. 

Last but not least, this Series includes an acrylic display case which protects pretty fine this precious model (much, much better than any box, clamshell or card... Which, at all events, are not intended / designed to keep inside their diecast indefinitely as many buyers think mistakenly... Believe me, as graphic designer, I do know about packaging =PPPPP)...
