ENGLISH United States of America is a self-contained universe when it comes to car racing... Is not that other countries or regions of the world don’t have a "motorsports culture", is that United States produces and consumes a wide variety of competitions which involve almost any kind of vehicles imaginable.
The first automobile of the industrial or modern era, was manufactured in Germany, it was designated Benz Patent-Motorwagen and was created by Karl Benz in 1886.
However, the mass production of automobiles began very early in the United States, indeed Duryea Motor Wagon Company (founded in 1893) was the first in this business, followed closely by Olds Motor Vehicle Company in 1897 (later known as Oldsmobile), which quickly dominated the local market and set the precedent for an automotive industry global in scope, along with Thomas B. Jeffery Company and Henry Ford Company, interalia...
Probably, that’s why this country has a strong automotive and motorsport culture, is not something gratuitous or speculative.
With this background in mind, some businessmen saw a great potential in the organization of car racing, which for a long time were clandestine and/or illegal events, promoted by speed enthusiasts, at their own expense and with huge risks involved.
The National Association for Stock Car Racing (NASCAR) is one of those business ventures, founded in 1947 by Bill France Senior, it’s a veritable institution when it comes to stock car racing in the Unites States and the world’s largest governing body in such category...
Being honest, I have mentioned the term "stock car" sometimes, but I had not a clear idea about what it means and I found that there are two meanings accepted.
A stock car can be either, an automobile that has not been modified from its original factory configuration and used for racing or (as the concept evolved in its contemporary form) any production-based automobile used in racing but with different levels and/or types of modifications...
The NASCAR topic is really wide and I cannot pretend to cover it in a single publication so, I just going to introduce, without further ado, the scale model for today...
This is the first diecast ever published here, related with NASCAR racing and there is a reason why you haven’t seen anything like this so far...
I’m not particularly devotee of such competitions, despite the heavy coverage of the media on them.
I just saw this model and the fact that it was manufactured by Racing Champions, made me choose it for my collection.
Since I only had just one model by this brand (published here), I thought that it would be great to add one more, after all, it won my admiration with the first sample I got...
This is a thorough and high quality scale replica of the actual car used by the american professional driver Kevin Lepage, for one of his best seasons in the Winston Cup Series (currently known as Sprint Cup Series), which is the highest level professional competition in NASCAR.
It’s a stock car, based on the 2000 Ford Taurus, but heavily modified, bearing in mind the obvious fact that the Taurus was never offered as coupe, like this model (#16) created for racing.
It has diecast body with gray plastic chassis, everything incredibly detailed and with the right proportion.
Is a pleasure to see the fantastic paint job in plain white and polychrome purple, complemented by the wonderful work of the tampos / decals, plenty of tiny logos in an intricate pattern, but very legible and not to mention the headlights.
The interiors are top notch, you can see the quality in the mold and the plastic resin used to reproduce the elements of the cabin and the front / rear windows have nice tampos too.
The tires are plastic but the mold is fabulous, imitating the fine satin texture of the slick tires (look like rubber), with yellow Eagle Goodyear tampos and if that weren’t enough, it includes a nice black mini display base with a full color trading card which can be inserted in the base...
Who knows, perhaps you will hear more about NASCAR here...
Hos 4:1-3 "Hear the Word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of GOD in the land. By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away."
Your first entry of NASCAR replica car on blog such is a kill. It's definitely well made with those neat and sharp imprint. Lots of details, too bad I got not feel the texture to the tires. Great design and fun colors that induced readers to a mood of celebration. Cool stand and backdrop in tributes to the driver who brought frame and recognition to the car.
HEHE... in the pictures, you can see the tires are not glossy as usual, but semi-matte, while the black rim is glossy, it seems a multipart wheel !!!... considering that is a brand specialized in this segment of vehicles, Racing Champions (Action Racing) has a well deserved reputation, they work with full licenses and the latest models have top notch decals (as you can see in this sample)... unfortunately the pictures cannot show the impressive detail inside the cabin, but i can assure is at the level of the best diecast brands in this scale !!! =)

I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...
