Por alguna razón, la gente piensa que el trabajo de los diseñadores es tan placentero y relajado, que tú puedes hacer lo que quieras, tomarte todo el tiempo que desees para hacerlo y siempre estará bien, ¡simplemente por que eres un diseñador!... 

Como diseñador gráfico profesional, he escuchado esta declaración muchas veces y he tenido que explicar que dicha percepción está tan lejos de la realidad, como el mito de la luna hecha de queso del siglo XIX... 

Bien, permítanme hacer esto claro para todos ustedes una vez más: NO, como diseñador tú NO haces lo que te venga en gana, además NO PUEDES tomarte el tiempo que quieras para hacer tu trabajo y ¡esto NUNCA fue de esta manera! =PPPPP... 

Solo en caso que esto resulte confuso para tí (!?), te daré un ejemplo de lo que estoy hablando... 

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG también conocida como BMW AG, es una compañía bastante establecida en la industria automotriz, que comenzó como fabricante de motores para aviones, luego cambió a la fabricación de motocicletas y en 1928-29, comenzó a construir automóviles. 

A propósito, ninguno de estos cambios fue producto de decisiones caprichosas, sino parte de los resultados del Tratado de Armisticio de Versalles, firmado después de la I Guerra Mundial. 

Para 1977, BMW creó su primer sedán de lujo de tamaño completo, conocido como el E23 y también como la primera muestra de la Serie 7, el tope de línea o el "buque insignia" del fabricante de coches alemán. 

Casi 50 años fueron necesarios para BMW, con el fin de tomar esta decisión y saltar al ring de los carros de lujo de clase mundial. 

Tú podrías preguntar: ¿por qué tomó tanto tiempo, cuando "obviamente, dicho mercado produce los más altos dividendos para los fabricantes de autos"?... 

¡Buen intento, sabelotodo, pero no es tan fácil! =PPPPP... 

Podría darte mil razones para eso, pero prefiero condensarlas en una sola: las altas expectativas de sus dueños y yo haría un claro énfasis en la palabra EXPECTATIVAS... 

Cuando estás hablando de diseño automotriz, no puedes hacer lo que quieras, principalmente porque tienes expectativas que llenar y éstas establecen los parámetros sobre los cuales debes trabajar, no hace falta decir que esto aplica para cualquier campo del diseño. 

El BMW 760Li (E66) V12 Sedán de Lujo de Tamaño Completo de 2004, pertenece a la cuarta generación (2001-2008) de esta gran berlina, el orgullo de BMW y la base para limosinas y otros vehículos diplomáticos. 

Este coche marcó cambios notorios con las generaciones anteriores, los más prominentes están en el diseño de carrocería e interior, pero también incluyen el corazón de esta máquina y el "cerebro electrónico" que controla los sistemas secundarios en este vehículo t.c.c. iDrive. 

A pesar de un desarrollo intensivo de cinco años (durante los cuales los diseñadores e ingenieros estuvieron trabajando duro, para llenar "algunas" altas expectativas y si, tuvieron una fecha límite), cuyo resultado fue un diseño innovador que incluyó un motor de 364 pulgadas cúbicas, 5.9 L, V12 a Gasolina, de Inyección Directa, clasificado en 438 bhp, acoplado a una transmisión automática de 6 velocidades, con un tiempo de 0-60 mph de apenas 5.4 segundos... 

Pero este modelo fue ampliamente criticado y rechazado por los clientes, que se atrevieron a comprar, casi compulsivamente, los vehículos de la generación anterior en existencia, para mostrar su descontento... 

¡Qué puñado de cobardes de mente estrecha!... 

¿Y todavía piensas que el trabajo de los diseñadores es agradecido y tan simple como chasquear tus dedos?... 

No me voy a disculpar por ser honesto y poner los puntos sobre las íes; en cambio, voy a mostrarles lo que es un buen diseño: distintivo, racional, poderoso, cómodo y confiable, de la mano de Hot Wheels y quizás, empezarás a apreciar un poquitín más el trabajo de nosotros, los diseñadores... 

Este es un ejemplo muy agradable de un modelo en una escala más bien escasa en mi colección: 1:50. 

Si no fuera por mis colegas coleccionistas, no podría conocer y conseguir diecast como este, simplemente porque la oferta de Hot Wheels en mi ciudad natal es pobre y tú apenas consigues los últimos lanzamientos, solo de las líneas Regulares. 

Precisamente, un viejo amigo mío de este subestimado gremio e importador de juguetes y coleccionables, me ofreció este modelo de una línea completamente desconocida para mí, la cual hoy en día, es más difícil de conseguir que antes y, por lo tanto, más cara de lo que esperas. 

Es la segunda vez que un diecast perteneciente a la Serie Dropstars está aquí (el anterior fue incluido para la sesión fotográfica) y estoy realmente complacido con la calidad, nivel de detalle y acabados, obviamente la escala ayuda mucho en ese sentido. 

Viene dentro de un llamativo clamshell, representa el BMW 760Li V12 de 2004, no la versión de concesionario sino una personalizada por AC Schnitzer, una companía independiente de tuning proveniente de Aachen, Alemania; especializada en modelos de BMW, Mini y Land Rover. 

Este molde, designado ACS7, tiene carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico negro; recibió un trabajo de pintura sobrio en gris azulado con acabado Metalflake y tampos precisos para las luces delanteras, luces de cola, la ventana trasera, las molduras de las ventanas laterales y los logos / insignias; los interiores son beige con toques de pintura sobre el tablero de instrumentos, la consola central y el sistema de sonido ubicado en la bandeja detrás de los asientos traseros, hechos en plateado y negro; las ruedas merecen una mención especial ya que son multiparte, con llantas de caucho labradas de ultra bajo perfil y extra anchas, ¡complementadas por espectaculares rimes cromados con "tecnología" Phat Lip!...

For some reason, people thinks the work of designers is so pleasant and relaxed, that you can do whatever you want, take all the time you want to do so and it will always be fine, just because you’re a designer!... 

As professional graphic designer, I have heard this statement many times and I have had to explain that such perception is so far from reality, as the myth of the moon made of cheese from the nineteenth century... 

Well, let me make this clear for all of you once more: NO, as designer you DON’T do whatever you please, also you CAN’T take all the time you want to do your job and it NEVER was this way! =PPPPP... 

Just in case this were confusing for you (!?), I will give you an example of what I’m talking about... 

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG also known as BMW AG, is a fairly established company in the automotive industry, that began as a manufacturer of aircraft engines, later shifting to the motorcycle manufacturing and in 1928-29, began to build automobiles. 

By the way, none of these changes were product of whimsical decisions, but part of the results of the Versailles Armistice Treaty, signed after the World War I. 

For 1977, BMW created its first full size luxury sedan, known as the E23 and also as the first sample of the 7 Series, the top of the line or "flagship" of this german automaker. 

Almost 50 years were necessary for BMW, in order to make this decision and jump into the ring of the world class luxury cars. 

You might ask, why it took so long, when "obviously, such market produces the highest dividends for car manufacturers"?... 

Good try, smarty, but is not that easy! =PPPPP... 

I could give thousand reasons for that, but I prefer to condense them in just one: the high expectations of their owners and I would make a clear emphasis in the word EXPECTATIONS... 

When you’re talking about automotive design, you can’t do whatever you want, mainly because you have expectations to fulfill and these set the parameters upon which you must work, needless to say that this applies for any field of design. 

The 2004 BMW 760Li (E66) V12 Full Size Luxury Sedan, belongs to the fourth generation (2001-2008) of this big brougham, the pride of BMW and the base for limousines and other diplomat vehicles. 

This car marked notorious changes with the previous generations, the most prominent are in the body and interior design, but also include the heart of this machine and the "electronic brain" that controls the secondary systems in this vehicle a.k.a. iDrive. 

Despite an intensive development of five years (during which the designers and engineers were working hard to fulfill "some" high expectations and yeah, they had a dead-line), whose result was a groundbreaking design that included a fascinating 364 cu in, 5.9 L, V12 Petrol Direct Injection engine, rated at 438 bhp, coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission, with a 0-60 mph time of barely 5.4 seconds... 

But this model was widely criticized and rejected by the customers, who dared to buy, almost compulsively, the previous generation vehicles in stock, to show their discontent... 

What a bunch of narrow-minded cowards!... 

And you still think that the work of designers is grateful and as simple as snapping your fingers?... 

I’m not gonna apologize for being honest and dot the i’s; instead, I’m gonna show you what’s good design: distinctive, rational, powerful, comfortable and reliable, from the hand of Hot Wheels and perhaps, you will begin to appreciate a bit more the work of us, the designers... 

This is a very nice example of a model in a scale rather scarce in my collection: 1:50. 

If not for my fellow collectors, I couldn’t know and get diecast like this, just because the offer of Hot Wheels products in my hometown is poor and you barely can get the latest releases, only from the regular lines. 

Precisely, an old friend of mine from this underrated guild and importer of toys and collectibles, offered me this model from a line completely unknown for me, which nowadays is harder to get than before and hence, more expensive than you expect. 

It’s the second time a diecast belonging to the Dropstars Series is here (the previous one was included in the photo shoot) and I’m really pleased with the quality, level of detail and finishes, obviously the scale helps much in that sense. 

It comes inside a showy clamshell, it represents the 2004 BMW 760Li V12, not the dealership version but one customized by AC Schnitzer, a third party tuning company from Aachen, Germany; specialized in models by BMW, Mini and Land Rover. 

This cast, designated ACS7, has diecast body and black plastic chassis; it received a sober bluish-gray paint job with Metalflake finishing and accurate tampos for the headlights, tail lights, the rear window, the side windows moldings and the logos/badges; the interiors are beige with touches of paint on the dashboard, center console and the sound system set in the tray behind the rear seats, made in black and silver; the wheels deserve a special mention since these are multipart, with ultra low profile and extra wide styled rubber tires, complemented by spectacular chrome rims with Phat Lip "technology"!...
