En algunas regiones tal vez el nombre International no será asociado fácilmente con algo específico, pero hay buenas posibilidades que hará sonar algunas campanas alrededor del mundo, porque una empresa con más de un siglo en el negocio puede hacer eso... 

Navistar International Corporation es una compañía ampliamente conocida por sus camiones y motores, tengo que decir que sus productos cubren una buena porción de este segmento, con ofertas que van desde camiones de grado comercial Clase 4 para Trabajo Liviano hasta Clase 8 para Trabajo Pesado, 11 líneas / series en total... 

En mi patria, Colombia (Suramérica), esta marca ha tenido presencia desde al menos 1958, cuando una empresa local: Comercial Internacional de Equipos y Maquinaria, comenzó operaciones y de hecho, en esa época, Navistar era conocida como International Harvester Company (la transición a Navistar fue hecha en 1985 - 1986). 

Precisamente, a finales de 1986, Comercial Internacional de Equipos y Maquinaria fue comprada por sus accionistas actuales, a pesar de sus dificultades financieras, debido a su potencial comercial y solo hasta 2000, cuando todas las subsidiarias fueron fusionadas, la compañía cambió su nombre al actual: Navitrans S.A. 

Esta empresa, así como las marcas y productos que representa, incluyendo Case y Agrale, ha construido una muy buena reputación en el mercado de camiones comerciales, donde los conductores / operadores de trabajo mediano y pesado sienten aprecio por estos productos, debido a su confiabilidad, fortaleza, desempeño y eficiencia en el consumo de combustible. 

Con este trasfondo breve, puedes imaginar que mi invitado para esta publicación no es, de ninguna manera, un extraño para mí: el Camión de Remolque con Cama Plana de Retroceso International DuraStar 4400 / Serie MV Cabina Regular 4x2 SRA (Eje Trasero Sencillo, por sus siglas en inglés) de 2013, un Camión Utilitario / Comercial para Trabajo Mediano Clase 6. 

Este vehículo pertenece a la primera generación de la reciente Serie 4000 / MV de Navistar, la cual fue el reemplazo de la anterior Serie S, producida entre 1977 y 2001; la Serie DuraStar / MV está en vigor en la actualidad y está disponible en numerosas configuraciones, algunas de ellas de fábrica y otras hechas por compañías de terceros. 

Tanto la Serie S como la Serie 4000 han sido vendidas aquí en mi país, pero esta última es por lejos una vista más común; pienso que el diseño exterior general ha jugado un papel importante en ese sentido, ya que es atractivo, aerodinámico, pulcro y no luce anticuado, a pesar que fue introducido en 2001, con modificaciones menores hasta 2018. 

Esto habla muy bien del trabajo del departamento de diseño en Navistar International, fue un enorme salto comparada con la Serie S anterior y estos camiones se destacan contra la fuerte competencia en el mercado local, de varias marcas en este segmento, como: Chevrolet / Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Ford, Freightliner, Nissan y varios fabricantes de autos chinos... 

Mi primer contacto con productos de GreenLight fue hace más o menos 10 años, cuando los vi en una tienda especializada de juguetes de mi ciudad natal (que salió del negocio hace aproximadamente 2 años) y pensé que ofrecían calidad más que suficiente para convertirse en parte de mi colección, en un momento cuando no estaba interesado en modelos en diecast basados en vehículos... 

Dicho interés en coleccionables basados en vehículos en diecast surgió 2 años después así que, el hecho que Greenlight se las arreglara para llamar mi atención como coleccionista adulto no fue una hazaña pequeña... 

Con todo, sería difícil para un visitante casual de este blog, decir que sé algo acerca de GreenLight, porque no ves reseñas basadas en productos de esta marca muy a menudo aquí, pero esa podría ser una suposición equivocada... 

No necesitas conseguir todos y cada uno de los lanzamientos de cierta marca de coleccionables, con el fin de tener una idea clara acerca de lo que podrías esperar de ella y si bien mis primeras impresiones sobre GreenLight fueron muy favorables, esas impresiones cambiaron con el tiempo. 

He visto la evolución de GreenLight desde 2010, ha tenido sus altibajos, más "bajos" que "altos" debo decir y el factor decisivo ha sido consistentemente el control de calidad, más que cualquier otra cosa, particularmente desde 2016. 

Mi invitado para esta publicación en uno de los "altos" que esta marca ha sido capaz de producir y es algo curioso, porque fue la primera vez que GreenLight incursionaba con camiones, en este caso camiones de trabajo mediano. 

Lo conseguí en el mercado secundario (esta marca nunca estuvo disponible en el mercado primario local), con la ayuda de un amigo mío, colega coleccionista e importador, hace más o menos 6 años. 

Hubo un incremento importante en precio para esta línea (Serie International DuraStar de 2014, Lanzamiento 1), cercano al 50% adicional, explicado en parte por un tamaño más grande del clamsell (una presentación más durable que la tarjeta habitual que otras marcas ofrecen), pero también y más importante aún, el tamaño del modelo, que tiene un nivel de detalle, proporciones y calidad general excelentes. 

La dosis de diecast en este modelo es muy decente, principalmente en la cabina y en la cama plana; el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en negro, con acabado brillante, aunque la cama plana tiene acabado satinado en un contraste muy agradable, hay pocos tampos y/o calcomanías pero estratégicamente colocados para la parrilla y bómper frontales, luces de señal y de cola. 

Hay varios insertos plásticos para los faros delanteros, espejos retrovisores laterales, cajas de herramientas laterales, la barra de remolque auxiliar, los estribos laterales (que son parte del chasis), la estructura que soporta la barra de luces y la barra de luces en sí, el trabajo es muy prolijo incluso teniendo en mente que es un modelo asequible, quiero decir, comparado con la oferta de otras marcas en este segmento. 

Las ventanas son transparentes obviamente y los interiores son negros también, bien detallados, no hay características de apertura y la cama plana es fija, pero eso no te molesta en este punto de precio; las ruedas multiparte presentan diseño de rimes muy realista 10 Slots en cromado, con llantas en caucho labradas y fue hecho en China...

In some regions maybe the name International will not be associated easily with something specific, but there are good chances that it will make ring some bells around the world, because a company with more than a century in business can do that... 

Navistar International Corporation is a company widely known by its trucks and engines, I have to say that its products cover a good portion of this segment, with offers that go from commercial grade Class 4 Light Duty to Class 8 Heavy Duty trucks, 11 lines / series in total... 

In my homeland, Colombia (South America), this brand has had presence since at least 1958, when a local company: Comercial Internacional de Equipos y Maquinaria, started operations and in fact, at that time, Navistar was known as International Harvester Company (the transition to Navistar was made in 1985 - 1986). 

Precisely, by late 1986, Comercial Internacional de Equipos y Maquinaria was bought by its current shareholders, despite its financial difficulties, due to its commercial potencial and only until 2000, when all the subsidiaries were merged, the company changed its name to the current one: Navitrans S.A. 

This company, as well as the brands and products it represents, including Case and Agrale, has built a very good reputation in the commercial trucks market, where medium and heavy duty drivers / operators feel appreciation for these products, due to their reliability, strength, performance and efficient fuel consumption. 

With this brief background, you could imagine that my guest for this publication is, by no means, a stranger for me: the 2013 International DuraStar 4400 / MV Series Standard Cab 4x2 SRA (Single Rear Axle) Flatbed Rollback Tow Truck, a Medium Duty Class 6 Commercial / Utility Truck. 

This vehicle belongs to the first generation of the recent 4000 / MV Series by Navistar, which was the replacement of the previous S Series, produced between 1977 and 2001; the DuraStar / MV Series is currently in force and it’s available in numerous configurations, some of them from factory and others made by third party companies. 

Both S Series and 4000 Series has been sold here in my country, but the latter is by far a more common sight; I think that the overall exterior design has played an important role in that sense, since it’s appealing, streamlined, neat and it doesn’t look old-fashioned, despite it was introduced in 2001, with minor modifications until 2018. 

It speaks very well about the work of the design department in Navistar International, it was a huge leap compared with the previous S Series and these trucks stand out against the strong competition in the local market, from several brands in this segment, like: Chevrolet / Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Ford, Freightliner, Nissan and several Chinese carmakers... 

My first contact with products by GreenLight was pretty much 10 years ago, when I saw them in a specialized toy store of my hometown (which went out of business 2 years ago or so) and I though they offered more than enough quality to become part of my collection, at a time when I was not interested in diecast models based on vehicles... 

Such an interest in collectibles based on diecast vehicles arose 2 years later so, the fact that GreenLight managed to draw my attention as adult collector is not a little feat... 

Yet, it would be difficult for a casual visitor of this blog, to say that I know something about GreenLight, because you don’t see reviews based on products by this brand so often here, but that could be a wrong assumption... 

You don’t need to get every single release of a certain brand of collectibles, in order to have a clear idea about what you could expect from it and while my first impressions about GreenLight were very favorable, those impressions changed over time. 

I have seen the evolution of GreenLight since 2010, it has had its ups and downs, more "downs" than "ups" I must say and the deal breaker has been consistently the quality control, more than anything else, particularly since 2016. 

My guest for this publication is one of the "ups" that this brand has been able to produce and it’s kind of curious, because it was the first time that GreenLight dabbled with trucks, in this case medium duty trucks. 

I got it in the secondary market (this brand was never available in the local primary market), with the help of a friend of mine, fellow collector and importer, pretty much 6 years ago. 

There was an important increase in price for this line (2014 International DuraStar Series Release 1), close to 50% additional, in part explained by the bigger size of the clamsell (a more durable presentation than the usual card that other brands offer), but also and more importantly, the size of the model, that has an excellent level of detail, proportions and overall quality. 

The dose of diecast in this model is very decent, mainly in the cabin and the flatbed; the paint job was made in black, with glossy finishing, albeit the flatbed has satin finishing in a very nice contrast, there are few but strategically placed tampos and/or decals for the front grille and bumper, signal and tail lights. 

There are several plastic inserts for the headlights, side rearview mirrors, side tool boxes, the auxiliar tow bar, the side steps (which are part of the chassis), the structure that supports the lightbar and the lightbar itself, the work is very prolix even bearing in mind that this is an affordable model, I mean, compared with the offer by other brands in this segment. 

The windows are clear obviously and the interiors are also black, well detailed, there are no opening features and the flatbed is fixed, but you don’t mind at this price point; the multipart wheels feature a very realistic 10 Slots rims design in chrome, with styled rubber tires and it was made in China...
