=) ENGLISH There is a long history behind the American pickup trucks and as regards to General Motors, their first appearance was as far as in 1930.
A kind of vehicle with such history, has evolved quite a bit and of course, has had its ups and downs, has grown in size and has shrunk as well (among many other changes), but still remains in force to date and its design is taking unexpected ways that challenge its classic shape and function...
The giant GM has a strange internal designation / nomenclature for its line of full size pickups: "C/K", where "C" refers to rear wheel drive trucks, while "K" refers to four wheel drive trucks.
You know, "Chevrolet C pickup" is not a fancy name (and seriously, it will not sell a single truck) so Chevy added last names like: Cameo, Silverado or Avalanche.
But the users of pickup trucks are demanding, a nice name will not convince them to invest...
They need power to work, space to load, comfort to drive and a good look wouldn’t hurt.
Chevrolet knows it very well and in the third generation (1973-1987), their pickup trucks underwent a notorious change, both inside and out.
The development began in 1968, even the vehicle components were tested through computer simulations (before production) and the final result was revolutionary.
The fuel management efficiency was critical and defined the body shape, aerodynamics was improved and the construction system helped to reduce weight.
In the "finishes department", there were available at least 4 trim levels, Crew Cab and Bonus Cab options, high quality materials inside and outside, moreover special tow packages for extra capability.
The engine range was really wide, from a 250 cu in, 4.1 L, I6 to a 454 cu in, 7.4 L, V8 and even a pair of Diesel engines were available: a 350 cu in, 5.7 L, Oldsmobile V8 and a 379 cu in, 6.2 L, Detroit V8.
All these features were part of the options for the 1983 Chevrolet Silverado Pickup, so we are looking at a very interesting vehicle which created an army of convinced fans and users.
Today I’m very happy to publish my first diecast from an Adult line by Hot Wheels along with the respective Regular line version, designed by Jun Imai.
Well, they are not exactly twins since the Offroad Racing Series is a 4x4 Silverado, while the HW Racing Series must be the 4x2 or rear wheel drive Silverado.
The one of the Offroad Series has diecast body and chassis (with extra height), rubber tires printed, extra bumper guard and running boards, while the HW Racing Series features a diecast body with plastic chrome chassis (extra low) and normal plastic tires.
The paint and decor for both is magnificent, I love all the details in the tiny logos and the Metalflake finishing which adds richness to the general appearance.
This casting is highly sought, not only because is a pickup truck, but because of the model itself since it marked a "before and after" in the history of the Chevy trucks.
A curiosity is that I got these items from different friends / colleagues / providers and I lost contact with one of them... I hope to contact him again, because I enjoyed our talks so much!...
Uhmmm... I brought as well my Nissan Hardbody pickup to create another hot trio!...
Psa 128: 1-2 "Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in His ways. For thou shalt eat the labor of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee."
uhmmmm... your tastes are very conservative !!!... well, looking at your collection, i can see you’re consistent... as for me, you know i’m more in the "motley side", a rich decor will always draw my attention, specially when is precise (like in this case)... i love all of them, i love trucks and pick ups, is nice to know that at least one was to your liking... =)

I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...
