1967 Plymouth Fury - Full Size 4-Door Sedan 2009 JL’s 40th Anniversary Series Release 8 -White Lightning- Diecast Scale 1:67 by Johnny Lightning

Creo que Johnny Lightning, ha hecho grandes esfuerzos por mantenerse vigente en diferentes frentes. 

A mediados de los 90s, por ejemplo, luego de su reaparición y en asocio con William Winckler (escritor/productor de Hollywood) y Charles Barnett III (artista de libros de cómic) tuvieron la estupenda idea de crear una línea de coleccionables que mezclaba un cómic y un diecast, llamada "Las aventuras de Johnny Lightning". 

Por motivos que NO expondré aquí específicamente, pues aún son materia de discusión, este proyecto fue cancelado a pesar de la gran expectativa que había generado. 

Es algo triste que por asuntos legales, los fanáticos de JL (me incluyo) tengamos que privarnos de elementos de colección tan deseables... Esta historia continuará... 

Ahora hace su entrada triunfal (carnavalesca) un auto señorial y enooooooorme, un sedán familiar que también se ofreció en versión coupé (con más de músculo y mejor estampa), un carro que en varias oportunidades le hizo honor a su denominación (pues algunos modelos realmente lucen feroces)... 

En otras palabras, el Sedán 4 Puertas Plymouth Fury de 1967, que a mi modo de ver funcionaría perfecto como un "Lowrider". 

Johnny Lightning lo incluyó en su serie 40 Aniversario, en una versión curiosa y sin embargo "apropiada"... 

Como auto que sin salvarse del deshuesadero, es echado como toro de lidia en medio de otros compañeros de batalla (carnicería metálica), es decir, como auto de derby de demolición. 

Triste destino para un carro, pero al menos a éste modelo en diecast, le queda el enorme consuelo de quedar bajo mi cuidado. Lo que encuentro más llamativo, es que se trata de uno de esos muy escasos White Lightnings... 

En una publicación futura, profundizaré en las razones porque los modelos White Lightning, parte del portafolio de Johnny Lightning portfolio, son tan especiales y codiciados...

Ya veremos que traerá la próxima semana, con la bendición del Todopoderoso... Nos vemos... =)

I think Johnny Lightning, has made great efforts to stay current on different fronts. 

In the mid 90s, for example, after its return and in association with William Winckler (Hollywood’s writer/producer) and Charles Barnett III (comic book artist) had the great idea of creating a line of collectibles that mixed a comic and a diecast, called "The adventures of Johnny Lightning". 

For reasons I will NOT expose here specifically, because these are still matter of discussion, this project was canceled despite the high expectations generated. 

It’s sad that, because of legal issues, JL’s fans (myself included) have to forego such desirable collectible items... To be continued... 

Now makes its triumphal (carnivalesque) entry a stately and huuuuuuuge car, a family sedan which was also offered as coupe (with more muscle and better looking), a car that several times lived up to its name (for some models really look fierce)... 

In other words, the 1967 Plymouth Fury 4-Door Sedan, that in my opinion would work perfect as a "Lowrider". 

Johnny Lightning included it in its 40th Anniversary series, in a curious version yet "proper"... 

As a car that without have been saved from the junkyard, is thrown like a bull in the midst of other sparring partners (metal carnage), i.e. as a demolition derby car. 

Sad fate for a car, but at least this diecast model, has the great consolation of being under my care. What I find more appealing, is that this is one of those very scarce White Lightnings... 

In a future publication, I will delve into the reasons why the White Lightning models, part of the Johnny Lightning portfolio, are so special and coveted...
