En una publicación reciente, de la cual puedes leer aquí, planteé algo acerca de los trabajos de ficción hechos para el cine, TV y/o teatro: la razonabilidad, factibilidad o credibilidad NO son una obligación, quiero decir, algunas veces ni siquiera lo que podríamos llamar propiamente una trama es necesaria y puedes encontrar muchos ejemplos para probar este punto... 

Con el fin de contar una historia, habitualmente debes recurrir a una trama, para idear una secuencia de eventos en esta historia y hacerla comprensible, "digerible" para la audiencia, o eso dicen, pero esta premisa no es una camisa de fuerza, particularmente no para la industria del entretenimiento, la cual incluye los filmes, series de TV, teatro y las noticias, entre otros medios... 

Y podrías preguntar, "espera, ¿qué?, cometiste un error, ¿la lista incluye las noticias?, ¿cómo podría ser esto?, ¿no es el propósito de las noticias el darte información, para mantenerte al día con la realidad?"... 

Bueno, si no te has dado cuenta, en este punto de la historia de la humanidad, que las cadenas de noticias son simplemente parte de una maquinaria de propaganda bien aceitada, una de las herramientas más poderosas de ingeniería social, establecida y financiada para engañar, distraer, manipular, tergiversar y entretener al público, entonces su condicionamiento mental todavía está funcionando bastante bien en ti... 

Ya sabes, cuando el entretenimiento es usado como medio de control, tener sentido no es requisito; hablando de eso, hay películas que realmente no entiendes cómo llegaron a los cinemas, ni hablar de cómo llegaron a ser de alguna forma "filmes de culto", a menos, claro está, que conozcas su verdadero propósito. 

Mis invitados para esta publicación fueron presentados en The Blues Brothers (Los Hermanos Cara Dura), un filme que definitivamente es la clase de trabajo de ficción del que estoy hablando y estas "estrellas automotrices" están basadas en el Dodge Monaco Sedán 4 Puertas / Auto de Persecución Policial de 1974 / Bluesmobile, un Sedán 4 Puertas de Tamaño Completo / Auto de Policía y el Dodge Royal Monaco Sedán 4 Puertas / Auto de Persecución Policial de 1977. 

Música o para ser preciso, música blues en su muy, muy amplio espectro de expresiones y rock, parecen ser el hilo conductor en esta especie de cuento, lanzado en 1980, por eso está clasificado como musical y si, hay varias presentaciones musicales grandiosas las cuales le dan a este producto gran parte de su atractivo, para ser honesto, pero llamarlo musical es a lo sumo una extrapolación. 

Y la película tiene humor, momentos cómicos y estrafalarios, lo cual es comprensible, ya que ambos protagonistas: Jake Blues (John Belushi) y Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) fueron comediantes en la vida real (Aykroyd aún es comediante, pero Belushi falleció en 1982, por cierto), también tienen un gusto notable por la música, rock y blues respectivamente. 

Incluso ya eran conocidos por "The Blues Brothers" en el negocio del espectáculo, antes de hacer la película, gracias en gran parte a algunas de sus actuaciones en un programa de TV muy popular, pero llamar a este filme una comedia es también estirar la definición del género un poquitín demasiado. 

The Blues Brothers incluye persecuciones exageradas (más como derbies de demolición), un affair con una ex-novia vengativa armada hasta los dientes, violencia gratuita, una serie de eventos disparatados creando la percepción que el mundo entero se confabuló contra Jake y Elwood, para evitar que recauden fondos para su orfanato... 

Todo eso y un poquitín más fue mezclado en una forma tan arbitraria, que ni siquiera la gente involucrada en esta película sabía exactamente qué estaban haciendo, como si esto fuera simplemente una idea improvisada y caprichosa, a la cual "inesperadamente" se le dio un presupuesto monstruoso para hacerla realidad y parte de esto es verdad. 

No es un secreto que la producción de este filme fue tortuosa, por decir lo menos, extremadamente costosa para la época, estuvo plagada con excesos dentro y fuera del set, incluyendo el consumo de drogas duras / ilegales y de alguna forma todo este desastre es reflejado en la pantalla. 

Sentido común, lógica o coherencia no son precisamente los pilares de The Blues Brothers y se nota, pero se ajusta de alguna forma a los "canones" del entretenimiento, donde todo, incluyendo un desastre cinematográfico, es útil para evitar que la gente piense demasiado sobre lo que está sucediendo a su alrededor, funcionó en los 80s (como mencioné aquí) y continúa funcionando hoy en día... 

Quizás es momento de hacer buen uso del pensamiento crítico y dejar de consumir tanta basura producida por los medios de propaganda...

Esta vez haré un paréntesis en las reseñas acerca de GreenLight, su historia, trasfondo e impacto en el segmento de modelos en diecast, aunque si quieres recordar o chequear lo que he abordado hasta aquí sobre esos temas, puedes leer, aquí, aquí, aquí y aquí... 

Así que hoy introduciré brevemente mis invitados, los cuales conseguí en el mercado secundario, con la ayuda de un amigo mío, colega coleccionista e importador / vendedor privado, hace más de 9 años, por la época cuando estaba empezando a incorporar esta marca a la lista de mis favoritas. 

Pertenecen a la Serie GreenLight Dioramas - The Blues Brothers de 2012 - Edición Limitada, un Boxset de 2 Autos que fue el primer producto de este tipo, hecho por GL en mi colección; la Serie Greenlight Dioramas fue introducida originalmente en 2009 y presentó diferentes clases de sets, algunas veces con 2 vehículos en diecast, algunas veces 1 vehículo acompañado por mini figuras (estáticas) y/u otros accesorios, también diferente licenciamiento, usualmente incluyendo algo relacionado con el entretenimiento, Hollywood, como en este caso. 

Estas réplicas a escala de coches de policía ofrecen carrocería y chasis en diecast, con gran nivel de detalle, realismo y calidad, como parece ser el caso con la mayoría de los primeros lanzamientos entre 2005 y 2012, a diferencia de los lanzamientos más recientes, que sufren notablemente en el departamento de control de calidad. 

Si bien uno de los modelos reclama ser de 1977, se uso el mismo molde que el del 74, así que hay una inconsistencia en ese sentido, porque el Royal Monaco del 77 tiene diferencias notorias, particularmente en el frente, aunque en el filme si aparecen patrullas del 74 y de otros años, entonces no es un gran problema para mí...

Los trabajos de pintura replican increíblemente bien los esquemas de color de los vehículos reales, me encanta especialmente el resultado en el Bluesmobile, el cual presenta una reprodución bastante realista de su apariencia desgastada y polvorienta, en ese sentido, varios tampos y/o calcomanías ayudaron al fantástico efecto general y ya que este último es un Green Machine (modelo chase de GreenLight), los rimes y el chasis recibieron pintura especial verde metalizado. 

Los modelos presentan varios insertos plásticos para las luces frontales y de cola, barra de luces en la patrulla, barras de empuje frontales, el megáfono y su soporte en el Bluesmobile, los cuales recibieron también pintura y/o tampos y/o calcomanías adicionales. 

Ambos tienen ventanas transparentes e interiores bastante detallados en negro; las ruedas multiparte presentan diseño de rimes preciso Steelies (de lámina) para ambos, en verde metalizado para el Bluesmobile y blanco para la patrulla, esta última incluye tapacubos plato de perro en plateado, llantas en caucho sintético labradas y estos modelos fueron hechos en China...

In a recent publication, of which you can read here, I posed something about the works of fiction made for the cinema, TV and/or theater: reasonability, feasibility or credibility are NOT a must, I mean, sometimes not even what we could call properly a plot is neccesary and you may find many examples to prove this point... 

In order to tell a story, you usually must resort to a plot, to devise the sequence of events in this story and make it understandable, "digestible" for the audience, or so they say, but this premise is not a straitjacket, particularly not for the industry of entertainment, which includes films, TV series, theater and news, among other media... 

And you might ask, "wait, what?, you made a mistake, the list includes news?, how could it be?, it’s not the purpose of news to give you information, to keep you up with reality?"... 

Well, if you have not figured out, at this point of the history of mankind, that news networks are just part of a well-oiled propaganda machinery, one of the most powerful tools of social engineering, established and financed to mislead, distract, manipulate, distort and entertain the public, then their mental conditioning is still working pretty fine on you... 

You know, when entertainment is used as a means of control, making sense is not a requirement; speaking of which, there are movies that you don’t really understand how they even made it to theaters, let alone how they became somehow "cult films", unless, of course, you know their true purpose. 

My guests for this publication were featured in The Blues Brothers, a film that is definitely the kind of fiction work I’m talking about and these "automotive stars" are based on the 1974 Dodge Monaco 4-Door Sedan / Police Pursuit Car / Bluesmobile, a Full Size 4-Door Sedan / Saloon Police Car and 1977 Dodge Royal Monaco 4-Door Sedan / Police Pursuit Car. 

Music or to be precise, blues music in its very, very wide spectrum of expressions and rock, seem to be the conductive thread in this sort of tale, released in 1980, that’s why it’s classified as a musical and yeah, there are several great music performances which give to this product most of its appeal, to be honest, but to call it musical is at best an extrapolation. 

And the movie has humor, comic and bizarre moments, which is understandable, since both protagonists: Jake Blues (John Belushi) and Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) were comedians in the real life (Aykroyd is still comedian, but Belushi passed away in 1982, by the way), they also have a noticeable taste for music, rock and blues respectively. 

They were even already known by "The Blues Brothers" in the show business, before making the movie, thanks largely to some of their gigs in a very popular TV show, but to call this film a comedy is also to stretch the genre definition a bit too much. 

The Blues Brothers includes over-the-top chases (more like demolition derbies), an affair with a vengeful ex-girlfriend armed to the teeth, gratuitous violence, a series of crazy events creating the perception that the whole world ganged up against Jake and Elwood, to prevent them from raising funds for their orphanage... 

All of that and a bit more was mixed in such an arbitrary way, that not even the people involved in this movie knew exactly what they were doing, as if it were just an improvised and whimsical idea, to which "unexpectedly" was given a monstrous budget to become true and part of this is true. 

It’s not a secret that the production of this film was tortuous, to say the least, extremely expensive for the time, it was plagued with excesses on and off the set, including hard / illegal drugs consumption and somehow all this mess is reflected on the screen. 

Common sense, logic or coherence are not precisely the pillars of The Blues Brothers and it shows, but it fits somehow the "canons" of entertainment, where everything, including a cinematic mess, is useful to prevent people from thinking too much about what’s happening around them, it worked in the 80s (as I mentioned here) and it continues to work nowadays... 

Perhaps it’s time to make good use of critical thinking and stop consuming so much rubbish produced by the propaganda media...

This time I will make a break in the reviews about GreenLight, its history, background and impact in the diecast models segment, albeit if you want to remember or check what I have addressed so far about this topics, you can read here, here, here and here... 

So today I will introduce briefly my guests, which I got in the secondary market, with the help of a friend of mine, fellow collector and importer / private seller, more than 9 years ago, by the time when I was starting to incorporate this brand to the list of my favorites. 

It belongs to the 2012 GreenLight Dioramas - The Blues Brothers Series - Limited Edition, a 2-Cars Boxset that was the first product of this kind, made by GL in my collection; the Greenlight Dioramas Series was introduced originally in 2009 and it featured different kind of sets, sometimes with 2 diecast vehicles, sometimes 1 vehicle accompanied by mini figures (static) and/or other accessories, also different licensing, usually including something related with entertainment, Hollywood, like in this case. 

These police cars scale replicas offer diecast body and chassis, with great level of detail, realism and quality, as it seems to be the case with most first releases between 2005 and 2012, unlike the most recent releases, that suffer noticeably in the quality control department. 

While one of the models claims to be from 1977,  the same mold from ’74 was used, so there is an inconsistency in that sense, because the ’77 Royal Monaco has noticeable differences, particularly in the front, albeit in the film do appear patrols from ’74 and other years, then it’s not a big issue for me...

The paint jobs replicate incredibly well the color schemes of the actual vehicles, I love specially the outcome in the Bluesmobile, which features a quite realistic reproduction of its weathered and dusty appearance, in that sense, several tampos and/or decals helped to the fantastic overall effect and since the latter is a Green Machine (chase model by GreenLight), the rims and the chassis received special metallic green paint. 

The models feature several plastic inserts for the front and tail lights, light bar in the patrol, front push bars, the megaphone and its stand in the Bluesmobile, which also received additional paint and/or tampos and/or decals. 

Both have clear windows and fairly detailed interiors in black; the multipart wheels feature accurate Steelies rims design for both, in metallic green for the Bluesmobile and white for the patrol, the latter includes dog dish hubcaps in silver, styled synthetic rubber tires and these models were made in China...

Si piensas acerca de esto un poco, el mercado negro, un concepto que en la era contemporánea surgió durante la II Guerra Mundial (aunque existía desde hace mucho, mucho tiempo), cuando el racionamiento artificial de bienes y servicios (típico en las guerras) hizo que sus precios se dispararan y solo aquellos que podían costearlo tendrían acceso a ellos, no ha cambiado demasiado desde entonces... 

Realmente no importa si estamos hablando del mercado negro de armas, drogas, órganos humanos, combustible, documentos falsos, comida, cambios de moneda, etc., este siempre involucra una serie de transacciones hechas irregular, fraudulenta, clandestinamente, con el fin de obtener lucro excesivo, obsceno, de productos o servicios que no valen tanto o que no deberían ser cobrados, usualmente cuando no hay mucho dinero circulando... 

Este mercado negro funciona con productos o servicios legales o ilegales, las guerras o las crisis económicas no son pre-requisito para que exista, solo la codicia y hay mucho de eso alrededor, además es un mal completamente innecesario; más aún, nuestra afición no es ajena a este odioso fenómeno y he abordado varios aspectos del mercado negro alrededor de los coleccionables en publicaciones anteriores. 

Entonces permítanme introducir otro aspecto del mercado negro en nuestra afición, con algo que ocurre en mi patria, quiero decir, en el mercado local, pero probablemente sucede también a nivel mundial, con ligeras diferencias. 

Algunas personas dirían que los acaparadores / especuladores se ponen muy creativos cuando se trata de quitarle dinero a los compradores incompetentes, pero la creatividad es algo que no aplica a transacciones subrepticias; en ese sentido, malicia sería una descriptor mejor para individuos que no hacen ningún bien a nuestra afición, quienes actúan literalmente como parásitos, porque buscan su propio beneficio a costa de estafar / perjudicar a otros. 

Si tienes un conocimiento básico acerca de esta afición, particularmente con respecto a coleccionar autos de juguete, ya sabes que los Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts, un producto que es parte de la Línea Principal de Hot Wheels, son objeto de acaparamiento / especulación de forma regular desde hace mucho tiempo y que los estafadores piden cantidades ridículas de dinero por ellos, en el mercado negro, no solo por los antiguos, sino también por los recién lanzados. 

Bien, ya que cada vez más personas que están empezando en esta afición, están conscientes de la especulación descarada con los precios para prácticamente cualquier coleccionable, pero en particular con los coches de juguete Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts de Hot Wheels, también son cada vez más reticentes a pagar dinero de más o a financiar a estos individuos, y puedes ver estos artículos publicados por largo tiempo, sin ser vendidos. 

¿Sabes qué han estado haciendo los acaparadores / especuladores para "resolver este problema"?, bueno, a ellos se les ocurrió las rifas; por supuesto, las rifas en sí mismas no son una herramienta para la especulación con precios, siempre y cuando el monto total de dinero recaudado a través del sorteo sea ligeramente mayor al valor comercial real o precio de referencia del artículo (un lucro equitativo está bien, pero no la avaricia que muestra esta gente) y si quieres saber qué significa precio de referencia, puedes leer aquí... 

Sin embargo, estos timadores pretenden recaudar aún más de lo que ya están cobrando en exceso por sus artículos en venta y ya que cada participante en estas rifas está pagando una cantidad relativamente baja de dinero por cada oportunidad de ganar el artículo, parece una forma "sensata" de conseguirlo a un "precio decente". 

Estas rifas no solo incluyen artículos de la Serie Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts Series, sino también artículos de los Clubes Red Line y Hot Wheels Collectors, de convenciones, Series como: Garage, Boulevard, Vintage Racing, Entertainment, Fast & Furious, Línea Principal, etc., de Hot Wheels y últimamente también modelos Chase de otras marcas. 

Quiero decir, estos individuos especulan con prácticamente cualquier cosa y con estas rifas fraudulentas cobran en promedio entre 15 y 25 veces o más, el valor real del artículo sorteado. 

Vale la pena recordar que el valor real o precio de referencia para un Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts es el mismo de cualquier otro carro de juguete de la Línea Principal de Hot Wheels, al momento de su lanzamiento, a saber, empieza alrededor de US$ 1 y más o menos US$ 5, dependiendo del país.

Mientras que un vendedor honesto por ejemplo cobraría hasta 5 veces el precio de referencia, para obtener una ganancia (en el caso de los Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts recientes, para los más antiguos o para otro tipo de modelos, se debe hacer un avalúo previo específico), estos embaucadores cobran mucho más que eso y se siente agredidos cuando alguien los señala de especuladores, aunque eso es precisamente lo que son, sin importar la opinión de aquellos que apoyan este mercado negro (compradores ignorantes y acaparadores / especuladores), porque ellos solo saben pagar o cobrar precios inflados.

Ahora, nosotros los coleccionistas, no financiamos el acaparamiento / especulación, simplemente porque una buena relación precio / calidad es imprescindible: sabemos lo que estamos comprando y cuánto vale realmente, así que no pagamos de más, ese es el negocio de los compradores incompetentes. 

Pero ya que estamos interesados en eliminar este mercado negro alrededor de los coleccionables, sabemos que la mejor forma de hacerlo, es dejar de comprar de acaparadores / especuladores y esto incluye no participar en sus rifas o subastas: cuantás más personas nos ayuden a boicotear a estos estafadores, mejor y hay todavía tantas opciones en el mercado de coleccionables, que es completamente estúpido comprar artículos con sobreprecio, ya sea a través de ventas directas, rifas o subastas... 

Por cierto, mis invitados para esta reseña no fueron adquiridos en una rifa (en realidad conseguí unos pocos a través de esa opción, para mi colección, pero prefiero por lejos una compra directa a un precio razonable) o pagando una pequeña fortuna por ellos, quiero decir, ni siquiera los conseguí a través del mercado secundario, sino en el mercado primario, en dos tiendas por departamentos diferentes, hace más o menos 5 años... 

Yo sé que compradores incompetentes y acaparadores / especuladores están parloteando muy a menudo que estos artículos son muy difíciles de encontrar en la espesura (mercado primario) y basura como esa, pero me gusta mostrar con hechos que estos individuos mienten, con la esperanza que unas pocas personas más lleguen a saber la verdad y dejen de financiar a estos agiotistas. 

El Bad Mudder 2 es un modelo conceptual / de diseñador / de fantasía / original / licenciado internamente, que no está basado en un auto real, pero con una clara inspiración en el Toyota FJ-40 de los 70s; fue diseñado por Jun Imai y si bien es la segunda versión del Bad Mudder, los modelos no tiene lazos en términos de diseño; fue lanzado originalmente en 2008 y ha tenido al menos 19 iteraciones, incluyendo variaciones, todas para la Línea Principal (categoría Regular). 

El original fue diseñado por Mark Jones e introducido en 1998, por solo un año, estaba basado en la Camioneta Ford F-150 Baja / Trophy de 1997, conducida por Robby Gordon, pero fue retirado aparentemente debido a problemas de licenciamiento, aunque hay rumores con respecto a otras causas. 

Me gustan esta clase de modelos que otros desprecian, pero aún más cuando están inspirados en vehículos todoterreno y con el Bad Mudder 2 ese es precisamente el caso; el nivel de detalle es más que decente para un coche de juguete, pero la proporción entre diecast y plástico favorece al plástico: esa es una desventaja sería en mi lista de chequeo. 

Ambos modelos pertenecen a la Serie HW Hot Trucks de 2016, pero también son las versiones Treasure y Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts de este molde (si quieres saber porque estos artículos son llamados también "Hidden" (ocultos), puedes leer aquí). 

Los modelos ofrecen carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico rojo, pero como ya mencioné, la dosis de plástico es decepcionante, con todo fue usado para dar más color a la apariencia exterior, ya que el mismo molde incluye los interiores, el snorkel y los guardafangos, digamos que eso compensa en parte esta deficiencia. 

Los trabajos de pintura fueron hechos en aguamarina con acabado brillante y aguamarina con acabado Spectraflame (la versión muy desigual y barata de Spectraflame, debo decir, ya que la carrocería no es tratada previamente para mejorar la superficie irregular y manchada de la aleación zamac, como se hace con algunos modelos RLC), complementado por tampos sobre los paneles laterales en blanco, negro, azul oscuro metalizado y rojo, con un diseño muy agradable incluyendo llamas de pinza de cangrejo y añadí detalles pintados para el enorme inductor de aire y los faros delanteros. 

Ambos tiene ventanas ahumadas e interiores negros con el nivel de detalle básico habitual; la selección de ruedas fue plásticas presentando diseño de rimes Beadlock Off-Road en cromado para la primera muestra y ruedas multiparte Real Riders presentando diseño de rimes Off-Road 5 Spokes en cromado, llantas en caucho sintético labradas y fueron hechos en Malasia...

If you think about it a little, black market, a concept that in the contemporary era emerged during the World War I (albeit it existed long, long before), when the artificial rationing of goods and services (typical in wars) made their prices to skyrocket and only those who could afford it would have access to them, has not changed too much ever since... 

It doesn’t really matter if we are talking about the black market of weapons, drugs, human organs, fuel, fake documents, food, currency exchange, etc., it always involves a series of transactions made irregularly, fraudulently, underground, in order to obtain excessive, obscene profit, from products or services that are not worth that much or that should not be charged, usually when there is not much money circulating... 

This black market works with legal or illegal products or services, wars or economic crises are not pre-requirements for it to exist, only covetousness and there is a whole lot of that around, besides it’s a completely unnecessary evil; even more, our hobby is not alien to this hateful phenomenon and I have addressed several aspects of the black market around collectibles in previous publications. 

Then let me introduce another aspect of the black market in our hobby, with something that happens in my homeland, I mean, in the local market, but it probably happens worldwide too, with slight differences. 

Some people would say that hoarders / scalpers get very creative when it comes to take-away money from incompetent buyers, but creativity is something that doesn’t apply to surreptitious transactions; in that sense, malice would be a better descriptor for individuals who do no good to our hobby, who act literally like parasites, because they’re are looking for their benefit at the cost of swindling / harming others. 

If you have a basic knowledge about this hobby, particularly regarding toy cars collecting, you already know that Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts, a product that is part of the Mainline of Hot Wheels, are subject of hoarding / scalping in a regular basis since long ago and that scammers ask ridiculous amounts of money for them, in the black market, not only for the old ones, but also for the newly released. 

Well, since increasingly more people who are starting in this hobby, are aware of the brazen speculation with prices for virtually any collectible, but in particular with the Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts toy cars by Hot Wheels, they are also increasingly reluctant to pay money in excess or to finance these individuals, and you can see these items published for long time, without being sold. 

Do you know what hoarders / scalpers have been doing to "solve this problem"?, well, they came up with raffles; of course, raffles in themselves are not a tool for speculation with prices, as long as the total amount of money raised through the raffle is slightly higher than the actual commercial value or reference price of the item (a fair profit is fine, but not the greed these people display) and if you what to know what it means reference price, you can read here... 

However, these swindlers pretend to collect even more than what they are already charging in excess for their items in sale and since each participant in these raffles is paying a relatively low amount of money for each chance to win the item, it seems a "sensible" way to get it at a "decent price". 

These raffles not only include items from the Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts Series, but also items from Red Line and Hot Wheels Collectors Clubs, conventions, Series like: Garage, Boulevard, Vintage Racing, Entertainment, Fast & Furious, Mainline, etc., by Hot Wheels and lately Chase models by other brands. 

I mean, these individuals especulate with virtually anything and with these fraudulent raffles they are cashing in average between 15 and 25 times or more, the actual value for the item raffled. 

It’s worth remembering that the actual value or reference price for a Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts is the same of any other toy car of the Mainline of Hot Wheels, at the moment of its release, namely, it starts around US$ 1 and pretty much US$ 5, depending on the country. 

While a honest seller for instance would charge up to 5 times the reference price, to make a profit (in the case of recent Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts, for the older ones or for other kind of models, a previous specific appraisal must be done), these tricksters charge much more than that and they feel attacked when someone points to them as speculators, although that’s precisely what they are, regardless the opinion of those who support this black market (ignorant buyers and hoarders / scalpers), because they only know to pay or charge inflated prices. 

Now, we the collectors, do not finance hoarding / scalping, just because good value for money is a must: we know what we are buying and how much it’s really worth, so we do not pay in excess, that’s the business of incompetent buyers. 

But since we are interested into eliminate this black market around collectibles, we know that the best way to do so, is to stop buying from hoarders / scalpers and it includes not participating in their raffles or auctions: the more people help us to boicot these scammers, the better and there are still so many options in the market of collectibles, that is completely stupid to buy overpriced items, either through direct sales, raffles or auctions... 

By the way, my guests for this review were not acquired in a raffle (actually I got a few through that option, for my collection, but I prefer by far a direct purchase at a reasonable price) or paying a small fortune for them, I mean, I didn’t even get them through the secondary market, but in the primary market, in two different local department stores, pretty much 5 years ago... 

I know that incompetent buyers and hoarders / scalpers are blathering very often that these items are very hard to find in the wild (primary market) and rubbish like that, but I like to show with facts that these individuals lie, in hopes that a few more people get to know the truth and stop funding these profiteers. 

The Bad Mudder 2 is a concept / designer / fantasy / original / internally licensed model, not based on an actual car, but with a clear inspiration in the Toyota FJ-40 of the 70s; it was designed by Jun Imai and while it’s the second version of the Bad Mudder, the models have no ties in terms of design; it was released originally in 2008 and it has had at least 19 iterations, including variations, all for the Mainline (Regular category). 

The original one was designed by Mark Jones and introduced in 1998, for only one year, it was based on the 1997 Ford F-150 Baja / Trophy Truck, driven by Robby Gordon, but it was retired apparently due to licensing issues, albeit there are rumors regarding other causes. 

I like this kind of models that others despise, but even more when they are inspired by off-road vehicles and with the Bad Mudder 2 that’s precisely the case; the level of detail is more than decent for a toy car, but the proportion between diecast and plastic favors plastic: that’s a serious drawback in my checklist. 

Both models belong to the 2016 HW Hot Trucks Series, but they are also the Treasure and Super / Hidden Treasure Hunts versions of this casting (if you want to know why these items are called also "Hidden", you can read here). 

The models offer diecast body and red plastic chassis, but as I already mentioned, the dose of plastic is disappointing, yet it was used to give more color to the exterior appearance, since the same mold includes the interiors, the snorkel and the fenders, let's say that it partially compensates for this deficiency. 

The paint jobs were made in aqua with glossy finishing and aqua with Spectraflame finishing (the very uneven and cheap version of Spectraflame, I must say, since the body is not treated previously to improve the irregular and stained surface of the zamac alloy, as it’s done with some RLC models), complemented by tampos on the side panels in white, black, dark blue metallic and red, with a very nice design including crab claw flames and I added painted details for the huge blower and the headlights. 

Both have smoked windows and black interiors with the usual basic level of detail; the wheels selection was plastic featuring Beadlock Off-Road rims design in chrome for the first sample and multipart Real Riders wheels featuring Off-Road 5 Spokes rims design in chrome, styled synthetic rubber tires and they were made in Malaysia...
