Los 80s fueron tiempos grandiosos cuando se trata de cultura popular, pero tiempos muy difíciles cuando se trata de la vida diaria real para las personas alrededor del mundo y la primera cosa que viene a la mente cuando piensas un poquitín sobre esto es: ¿no es una paradoja extraña, una rara coincidencia de circunstancias?...
Si piensas acerca de la historia humana en términos de una serie de eventos sucediendo aleatoriamente, accidentalmente, en particular cuando se trata de asuntos sociales, políticos y económicos, como quieren hacer creer aquellos que pretenden manejar los hilos del poder y consideras estos eventos individualmente, probablemente esa es la percepción que tendrás: los verás como paradojas, coincidencias, hechos sin conexión y de alguna forma "inevitables", contra los cuales cualquier cuestionamiento o resistencia es inútil...
Pero una vez consideras estos mismos eventos en conjunto, cuando analizas cómo estos hechos se conectan, porque en realidad nunca ocurren de forma aislada, cuando reflexionas sobre el propósito detrás de ellos o su efecto en la sociedad, ya que la ley de causa y efecto también aplica a la historia humana, por si acaso no lo sabías...
Cuando te das cuenta como "errores", "accidentes" como: guerras, inflación, crisis y depresiones económicas, reducción del emprendimiento independiente y crecimiento excesivo de los monopolios, incremento en los índices pobreza por causa de la reducción en el poder adquisitivo o políticas cada vez más dictatoriales de los gobiernos, entre otros, sucediendo una y otra vez, independientemente del partido en el poder, difícilmente podrías verlos como meras coincidencias, porque cuando encuentras su relación o conexión, tendrás que verlos más bien como parte de un plan o complot, fichas de rompecabezas y ese plan no es precisamente "por el bien general"...
De hecho, cuando consideras que la gente estuvo batallando para ganarse la vida durante los 80s a nivel mundial, con las secuelas de la "crisis petrolera" artificial de los 70s y los estragos de la inflación disparada, que fue uno de sus efectos directos y luego miras a la cultura popular, la cual está bastante influenciada por el mundo del entretenimiento (TV, cine, radio, noticias, etc.), no puedes evitar tener la sensación que esta última fue usada de una forma maquiavélica para mantener a las personas distraídas y complacientes, mientras enfrentaban grandes problemas, de forma que estuvieran más dispuestos a aceptar medidas draconianas, para supuestamente conjurar todas estas dificultades económicas que se les habían impuesto...
Una versión contemporánea de la política de "pan y circo" usada por el imperio romano...
Y nuestro panorama actual dista de ser diferente, en realidad hay incluso más distracciones y anzuelos creados hoy, para evitar que la gente se dé cuenta de lo que realmente está sucediendo y predisponerlos para aceptar medidas draconianas similares, como: falsas pandemias, guerras y rumores de guerras, supuestos viajes orbitales de billonarios, protocolos engorrosos para hacer las cosas más simples en la vida, "vacunación" forzada (¿o debería decir terapias mutagénicas y/o inmunosupresoras y/o de toxicidad programada impuestas?), inflación galopante y nuevas crisis o depresiones económicas en camino (una vez más), redes sociales de realidad virtual (complementadas por el resto de plataformas de ingeniería / manipulación social en internet, TV y otros medios), y todo esto mientras somos despojados de nuestras libertades civiles por causa de la obediencia ciega de muchos, etc...
Pero ya sabes, cuando decides ignorar las lecciones de la historia y de buena gana (estúpidamente) prefieres creer la "versión oficial de la realidad" divulgada por el establecimiento, estas condenado a repetirla de manera aún más retorcida que antes...
La gente tiende a olvidar fácilmente que ninguna libertad humana ha sido lograda sin el derramamiento de sangre, ninguna, particularmente aquellas dadas por DIOS; por eso es fundamental impedir que nuestras libertades sean pisoteadas, sin importar el pretexto que quiera ser usado...
Y sí, los 80s fueron tiempos duros para las personas y para muchos segmentos de la industria, también para negocios pequeños, medianos e incluso grandes, particularmente aquellos que no llegaron a ser parte de los enormes monopolios en ciernes y por si acaso tú, en este punto, estuvieras preguntándote porqué estoy hablando de estos temas, bueno, entre otras cosas, porque la industria de los juguetes y coleccionables fue afectada también por los acontecimientos ya mencionados...
Matchbox, una marca que fue parte de Lesney Products, una compañía británica de artículos en diecast, empezó operaciones en algún punto de 1953, precisamente cuando el uso de zinc para productos no esenciales estaba restringido por el gobierno y disfrutó un enorme éxito durante muchos años...
Pero entonces en 1968 arribó Mattel con sus productos Hot Wheels (autos de juguete en diecast) y un enfoque agresivo en mercadeo, que introdujo cambios sustanciales en la industria de los juguetes, los cuales en muchos casos no fueron buenos para nuestra afición y este evento, junto con otros sucediendo simultáneamente durante los 70s, generaron condiciones muy desfavorables para la continuidad de Matchbox en ese negocio...
Tanto que en 1982 Lesney Products se declaró en bancarrota y después de las negociaciones correspondientes, la empresa fue reformada y adquirida por David Yeh, dueño de Universal Toys y una nueva era para esta marca comenzó, conocida en esa época como Matchbox Toys...
A esa era pertenece mi invitado para esta publicación, basado muy holgadamente en el Oshkosh Serie L 6x6 Camión de Bomberos para Trabajo Pesado de Motor Central de 1975 - 1976, un Camión de Bomberos con Escalera Aérea Montada Atrás Clase A Tipo 1 (Para Extinción de Incendios Estructurales en la Ciudad) Cabina Custom de Perfil Ultra Bajo.
Este camión de juguete fue introducido en 1984, cuando Matchbox fue parte de Universal Toys, aunque mi invitado pertenece a la Serie To The Rescue (Moving Parts) de 1998, lanzamiento 4 y por esa época, Matchbox fue adquirida por Tyco Toys Inc.
Cuando dije ‘muy holgadamente’, lo que quise decir es que el camión de juguete tiene un parecido general con el camión de bomberos real ya mencionado, pero las proporciones fueron bastante alteradas, como deberías esperar de un coche de juguete, tanto que es más una versión caricaturizada del Oshkosh Serie L que cualquier otra cosa: la longitud fue reducida entre 25% y 35%, y la altura fue incrementada entre 15% y 20%...
Las proporciones o la precisión nunca fueron la fortaleza de los carros de juguete y eso es algo que puede verificarse fácilmente a simple vista, aunque algunos promotores de marca insistan en lo contrario...
Conseguí el mío a través del mercado secundario y dudo seriamente que alguna vez estuviera disponible en el mercado primario local, fue hace más o menos 5 años, con la ayuda de un amigo mío, colega coleccionista e importador / vendedor privado.
El modelo fue muy utilizado entre 1984 y 2003, pero aparecíó dos veces más en 2004 y 2006, con al menos 72 iteraciones, incluyendo variaciones, para líneas de las categorías Regular, Adulta y De Lujo, incluyendo multipacks (3 y 5 piezas) y sets especiales.
Me encantan los camiones / máquinas / dispositivos de bomberos y esa es la principal razón porque conseguí este camión de juguete para mi colección, aunque para ser honesto, pensé que era simplemente un modelo conceptual / de diseñador / de fantasía / original / licenciado internamente.
Bueno, estaba parcialmente en lo cierto, porque el modelo fue apodado Extending Ladder Fire Truck, Ladder Fire Truck, Cleveland Fire Truck, Flame Chaser, Ladder Fire Engine o simplemente Fire Truck o Fire Engine, sin mención de Oshkosh con el fin de evitar tarifas de licenciamiento.
Ofrece carrocería en diecast y chasis plástico con acabado cromado, la dosis de diecast es decente, pero el nivel de detalle externo es muy bueno; el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en blanco, complementado por una decoración simple pero bonita con tampos y/o calcomanías sobre los paneles laterales, en rojo y negro.
Ahora la característica interesante de este vehículo de juguete es las partes móviles para la escalera extensible y rotable; si bien no hay interiores y hay un grande, feo vástago para el remache frontal, el modelo tiene 6 partes y podías conseguir eso por el mismo precio de cualquier artículo de la Línea Principal; algo que no ves actualmente, a menos que pagues alrededor de 3 veces el precio de un artículo de la Línea Principal, dependiendo donde vivas, por las líneas recientes con partes móviles.
Este último hecho trae a colación el tema de la inflación; una aberración económica que perjudica todo y a todos (excepto a las "autoridades monetarias", por supuesto), y tiene un efecto directo en nuestra afición, porque pagas más hoy por un juguete o coleccionable que te ofrece menos beneficios que antes... Hablando de manipulación...
Este camión de juguete ofrece ventanas tintadas de azul y el molde incluye las luces de sirena en la parte superior, la escalera extensible fue hecha en plástico rojo, agradablemente detallada y funciona muy bien, la plataforma es negra, la selección de ruedas plástica presenta diseño de rimes 8 Dots en cromado y fue hecho en China...

The 80s were great times when it comes to popular culture, but very difficult times when it comes to daily real life for people around the world and the first thing that comes to mind when you think a little bit about it is: isn’t it a strange paradox, a weird coincidence of circumstances?...
If you think about human history in terms of a series of events happening randomly, accidentally, in particular when it comes to social, political and economic affairs, as those who intend to handle the threads of power want to make believe and you consider these events individually, probably that’s the perception you will have: you will see them as paradoxes, coincidences, facts without connection and somehow "unavoidable", against which any questioning or resistance is futile...
But once you consider these same events as a whole, when you analize how these facts connect, because actually they never occur in isolation, when you ponder about the purpose behind them or their effect in society, since the law of cause and effect also applies to human history, just in case you didn’t know...
When you realize how "errors", "accidents" like: wars, inflation, economic crises and depressions, reduction of independent entrepreneurship and excessive growing of the monopolies, increase in poverty rates due to reduction in purchasing power or increasingly dictatorial policies from governments, among others, happening time and time again, regardless the party in power, hardly you could see them as mere coincidences, because when you see their relationship or connection, you will have to see them rather as part of a plan or plot, puzzle tiles and that plan is not precisely "for the greater good"...
In fact, when you consider that people were struggling to make a living during the 80s worldwide, with the aftermath of the artificial "oil crisis" of the 70s and the ravages of the skyrocketing inflation, that was one of its direct effects and then you look at the popular culture, which is fairly influenced by the world of entertainment (TV, cinema, radio, news, etc.), you can’t help but feeling that the latter was used in a machiavellian way to keep people distracted and accomodating, even compliant, while they were facing big problems, so they were more willing to accept draconian measures, supposedly to ward-off all these economic difficulties that had been imposed on them...
A contemporary version of the "bread and circuses" policy used by the Roman empire...
And our current panorama is far from being different, actually there are even more distractions and baits created today, to avoid people realize what’s really happening and predispose them to accept similar draconian measures, like: fake pandemics, wars and rumors of wars, alleged orbital travels of billionaries, cumbersome protocols to do the simplest things in life, forced "vaccination" (or should I say imposed mutagenic and/or immunosuppressive and/or programmed toxicity therapies?), inflation skyrocketing and economic crises or depressions on the way (yet again), virtual reality social networks (complemented by the rest of social engineering / manipulation platforms on internet, TV and other media), and all of this while we are stripped of our civil freedoms because of the blind compliance of many, etc...
But you know, when you decide to ignore the lessons of history and willingly (stupidly) prefer to believe the "official version of reality" of the establishment, you’re condemned to repeat it in an even more twisted way than before...
People tend to forget easily that no human freedom has been achieved without bloodshed, none, particularly those GOD’s given; that’s why it’s essential to prevent our freedoms from being trampled on, regardless of the pretext that wants to be used...
And yeah, the 80s were tough times for people and for many segments of industry, also for small, midsize and even big businesses, particularly for those that didn’t become part of the huge monopolies that were in the make and just in case you, at this point, were wondering why I’m talking about these topics, well, among other things, because the industry of toys and collectibles was also affected by the events already mentioned...

To that era belongs my guest for this publication, based very loosely on the 1975 - 1976 Oshkosh L-Series 6x6 Heavy Duty Mid-Engine Fire Truck, a Class A Type 1 (Structural Firefighting in the City) Ultra Low Profile Custom Cab Rear Mounted Aerial Ladder Fire Truck.
This toy truck was introduced in 1984, when Matchbox was part of Universal Toys, albeit my guest belongs to the 1998 To The Rescue (Moving Parts) Series, Release 4 and by that time, Matchbox was acquired by Tyco Toys Inc.
When I said ‘very loosely’, what I mean is that the toy truck has an overall resemblance with the actual fire truck already mentioned, but proportions were quite altered, as you should expect from a toy car, so much that it’s more a cartoonish version of the Oshkosh L-Series than anything else: length was reduced between 25% and 35%, and height was increased between 15% and 20%...
Proportions or accuracy have never been the strength of toy cars and it is something that can be easily verified with the naked eye, although some brand promoters insist otherwise...
I got mine through the secondary market and I seriously doubt it were available in the local primary market ever, it was pretty much 5 years ago, with the help of a friend of mine, fellow collector and importer / private seller.
The model was heavily used between 1984 and 2003, but it appeared two more times in 2004 and 2006, with at least 72 iterations, including variations, for lines in the Regular, Adult and Deluxe categories, including multipacks (3 and 5 pieces) and special sets.
I love fire trucks / fire engines / fire apparatus and that’s the main reason why I got this toy truck for my collection albeit to be honest, I thought it was simply a concept / designer / fantasy / original / internally licensed model.
Well, I was partially right, because the model was dubbed Extending Ladder Fire Truck, Ladder Fire Truck, Cleveland Fire Truck, Flame Chaser, Ladder Fire Engine or simply Fire Truck or Fire Engine, with no reference to Oshkosh in order to avoid licensing fees.
It offers diecast body and plastic chassis with chrome finishing, the dose of diecast is decent, but the external level of detail is very good; the paint job was made in white, complemented by a simple but nice decoration with tampos and/or decals on the side panels, in red and black.
Now, the interesting feature of this toy vehicle is the moving parts included for the extending and rotatable ladder; while there are no interiors and there is a big, awful stem for the front rivet, the model has 6 parts and you could get that for the same price of any item from the Mainline; something you don’t see currently, unless you pay around 3 times or more the price of an item from the Mainline, depending where you live, for the recent moving parts lines.
The latter fact brings up again the topic of inflation: an economic aberration that harms everything and everyone (except the "monetary authorities", of course), and it has a direct effect in our hobby, because you to pay more today for a toy or collectible that offers you fewer benefits than before... Speaking about manipulation...
This toy truck offers blue tinted windows and the mold includes the siren lights on top, the extending ladder was made in red plastic, nicely detailed and it works pretty fine, the platform is black, the plastic wheels selection features 8 Dots rims design in chrome and it was made in China...
