1970 AEC / Leyland Ergomatic / Mercury Snorkel Fire Truck 1999 Matchbox USA Series 1 Diecast Scale 1:87 4/5 by Matchbox

Muy pocos tipos de vehículos llaman tan poderosamente mi atención como los camiones de bomberos... 

Creo que es bastante normal, solo piénsalo, si le preguntas a un chico: "¿qué quieres ser cuando grande?", él responderá, en muchos casos: "quiero ser un bombero"... 

Ya sabes, es algo heroico (y todos quieren ser un héroe), es valiente y requiere mucho sacrificio (lo cual supongo, es algo que un niño a duras penas entiende, cuando está mencionando la carrera de sus sueños)... 

Esa es una profesión bastante riesgosa y no sabes exactamente cuando serás necesario (puede ser en cualquier momento del día o de la noche) o sí regresarás a tu dulce hogar en una pieza. 

Un trabajo riesgoso requiere las herramientas apropiadas, probablemente un vehículo con características específicas y de hecho para combatir el fuego y rescatar personas, hay una amplia variedad disponible de vehículos altamente especializados. 

Desde pickups hasta tractomulas (y cualquier cosa en medio de ellas, incluyendo vehículos blindados), estos son un derroche de genialidad, que aún los más exclusivos autos super deportivos o de lujo superior desearían. 

Entre la lista de exigentes características para este tipo de camiones (que son clasificados como vehículos multipropósito), hay algunas bastante críticas... 

Por ejemplo, estos necesitan espacio para: un grupo de bomberos (ocho o más, dentro de la cabina y alrededor del camión), equipo para corte (como hachas, picas, barras / herramientas halligan -combinación de hacha, pica y barra-), escaleras, dispositivos para respiración autónoma, máscaras, trajes a prueba de fuego, adaptadores de mangueras y/o mangueras de succión, reflectores / luces spot y la lista continua... 

Los grandes tienen también: tomas para hidrantes y/o cañones de agua (t.c.c. monitores o pistolas de cubierta) para bombear agua dentro del fuego; complejas y confiables escaleras aéreas hidráulicas con o sin plataformas, para tener acceso a incendios que se producen en edificios altos o ganchos para echar abajo paredes y esto sin mencionar el surtido de cornetas, luces de advertencia y megáfonos, necesarios para abrirse camino en medio del tráfico en una emergencia... 

¡Es decir, ellos llevan el término "multipropósito" al siguiente nivel!... 

He estado esperando mucho por una publicación como está, porque me encantan los camiones de bomberos y no fue difícil para mí escoger este artículo para la colección. 

Esta es una serie vintage y el molde original fue creado en 1981. 

No hay indicación sobre el modelo real que fue tomado como referencia y fue realmente difícil para mí encontrar información confiable sobre él, pero probablemente es una recreación de un Camión de Bomberos Tipo Snorkel AEC / Leyland Ergomatic / Mercury de 1970. 

El molde está agradablemente detallado como puedes esperar de Matchbox, especialmente de los modelos antiguos, la cabina no tiene techo y los asientos en configuración opuesta son inusuales, pero están bien para mí. 

Carrocería en diecast con chasis en plástico negro, fabuloso trabajo de pintura en el rojo "obligatorio" con decoración a juego que incluye el clásico "Marque al 911", el diseño de los rimes es vintage y no está disponible en los modelos recientes (realmente lo prefiero así). 

El descreste en este camión de bomberos merece una especial mención, puesto que es una escalera aérea hidráulica totalmente funcional, con una plataforma que incluye un bombero sujetando la respectiva manguera, la escalera totalmente extendida alcanza una altura de 6"... 

¡Este camión es sorprendente y con optimismo, no será el único!...

Very few types of vehicles draw my attention as powerfully as the fire trucks... 

I guess is pretty normal, just think about it, if you ask a kid: "what you wanna be when you grow up?", he will reply, in many cases: "I wanna be a firefighter"... 

You know, is something heroic (and everybody wants to be a hero), is brave and it requires a lot of sacrifice (which I guess is something that a kid hardly understand, when he’s mentioning the career of his dreams)... 

That’s a quite risky profession and you don’t know exactly when you will be necessary (it can be at any time of day or night) or if you will return to your sweet home in one piece. 

A risky job requires the appropriate tools, probably a vehicle with specific features and indeed to fight the fire and rescue people, there is a wide variety of highly specialized vehicles available. 

From pickups to heavy trucks (and anything in the middle of them, including armored vehicles), these are a prodigality of awesomeness, that even the most exclusive super sport or top luxury cars would wish. 

Among the list of demanding features of this kind of trucks (which are classified as multi-purpose vehicles), there are some quite critical... 

For example, these need room for: a team of firefighters (eight or more, inside the cabin and around the truck), cutting equipment (like axes, pikes, halligan bars / tools), ladders, self-contained breathing devices, masks, fireproof suits, hose ramps and/or suction hoses, floodlights / spotlights and the list continue... 

The big ones have also: hydrant intakes and/or pumping cannons (a.k.a. monitors or deck guns) to pump water into the fire; complex and realiable hydraulic aerial ladders with or without platforms, to gain access to fires occurring in high-rise buildings or hooks to pull walls away and not to mention the assortment of horns, lightbars and loudspeakers required to make their way through traffic in an emergency... 

I mean, they take the term "multi-purpose" to the next level!... 

I have been waiting for so long for a publication like this, because I love fire trucks and it was not hard for me to choose this item for the collection. 

This is a vintage series and the original casting was created in 1981. 

There is no indication about the actual model that was taken as reference and it was really hard for me to find reliable info about it, but probably is a recreation of a 1970 AEC / Leyland Ergomatic / Mercury Snorkel Fire Truck. 

The casting is nicely detailed as you can expect from Matchbox, specially from the old models, the cabin has no roof and the seats in opposite configuration are unusual but they look OK for me. 

Diecast body with plastic chassis in black, fabulous paint job in the "mandatory" red with matching decor that includes the classic "Dial 911", the wheels design is vintage and is not available in the recent models (actually I it prefer that way). 

The gimmick in this fire truck deserves a special mention, since is a hydraulic aerial ladder totally functional, with a platform that includes a firefighter holding the respective hose, the ladder fully extended reaches 6" high... 

This truck is awesome and hopefully will not be the only one!...
