ENGLISH If something characterize the models made by Hot Wheels is the imagination... Don’t get me wrong fellas, it’s not that the rest of brands in the universe of diecast makers lack of imagination, NO...
Actually, all the brands of diecast available are imaginative, when it comes to produce scale models; in spite of what other collectors say, even the models known as "bootlegs", have their own dose of creativity...
There is a long list of processes in order to produce a diecast and such list grows when other factors are involved in the equation.
For instance, the level of accuracy, faithfulness and detail regarding the actual model, the number of parts included, the presence of special features like opening doors / hood / trunk, the addition of a display base, trading cards, plates and the complexity of the model...
Now, talking about complexity, not only the extremely realistic scale models are in top of this variable; in fact, many "not realistic" castings have an amount of detail that some realistic models would envy.
I know some fellow collectors obsessed with the realism in a scale model so, they easily despise the concept vehicles created by renowned designers in Hot Wheels...
I respect such approach, but fortunately I’m "a bit" more open minded than that.
All the vehicles that we know and see everyday on the streets, or maybe in the TV, or in a book or catalog, were once just concepts, drawings on a piece of paper and lately, on a display screen.
Some of these concepts remain as drawings, others become a scale model (digital or physical) for testing, or a prototype and a few become a real car, fully functional and ready for mass production.
I admire the work of the diecast designers in Hot Wheels, Matchbox and other brands which, every now and then, release creative models not based or hardly based on actual cars and hence, they will have a place to dwell in my humble blog.
Today I brought one of those singular experiments, made by one of the diecast designer gurus in Hot Wheels: mr. Phil Riehlman.
The model is a chunky panel truck and although there is no official info about the potential real vehicle taken as basis, many collectors will agree that the Dodge Power Wagon could be a serious candidate.
Some of them would be even more specific, mentioning the 2001 Dodge PowerBox Concept, a massive SUV with an aggressive look but environmentally friendly, thanks to its hybrid powertrain.
However, I would add some elements of the old military version of the 1949 Dodge Power Wagon Panel, reinterpreted with a futuristic vision and the whole idea will be complete.
This is a relatively modern casting released in 2003, it has been two times in Adult lines featuring diecast body / chassis and Real Riders rubber tires.
This model, belonging to a Regular line, features diecast body with plastic chassis in black.
I love the paint job in brown with Metalflake finishing and the tampos look vivid with many logos finely detailed, remembering those from the rally cars.
The windows tinted in orange look quirky, along with the plastic tires in color sand, the golden Off-Road 5 Spoke wheels and ocher interiors, but they make a great contrast with the paint job and give it the correct off-road feeling.
I’m not pretty sure, but maybe there will be more of these diecast follies, if GOD allows...
1 Joh 3:1-4 "Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew HIM not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when HE shall appear, we shall be like HIM; for we shall see HIM as HE is. And every man that hath this hope in HIM purifieth himself, even as HE is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."
i think that the unusual color of the wheels is the way Hot Wheels represented something covered with mud... not so realistic, but pretty fine for my taste... also, yeah, this panel van looks like a vehicle as massive as a Toyota Sequoia (which i guess is familiar for you) !!!... =)

I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...

The markings are nice but the color of the tires don't seems very right. It has look bigger than other truck of the same scale.
