ENGLISH After the huge worldwide success of the Model T, the most influential vehicle ever created, Ford had the not inconsiderable task of creating a worthy successor... In a sort of tradition among certain carmakers, the designation of models follows a sequence and that sounds pretty logic...
Then, the logical successor of the Model T should be the Model U (even if it’s not so appealing), but the logic doesn’t work always hand in hand with the common sense and Henry Ford had in mind a "new beginning"...
Considering this, you can guess that the heir was the Model A and you’re quite right.
However, I’m not gonna talk about the Model A, but about the next in the row which is "incredibly" the Model B! =PPPPP...
This model had a rather short life (barely 2 years) but it was more than enough to carve its name in the Hall of Fame of the Hot Rods.
The Model B was another versatile platform, just like its ancestor the Model T and offered several body styles: 2-door roadster, 2-door coupe, 2-door sedan, 4-door sedan, 2-door cabriolet, 2-door phaeton and pickup.
The body design is the epitome of simplicity, after all it was a product made industrially; but don’t get me wrong, it didn’t lack of style or presence, not at all.
The work on the metal sheet is neat, with softer curves than those of the previous Model A, which is specially noticeable in the fenders and the front panel of the grille.
This model set the pace for the 30’s style and when someone thinks in cars from such age, probably the most recognizable will be the B.
The Model B is indeed the holy grail of the Hot Rods, no other model has achieved such level of representativeness.
For that very reason, a Model B ready for exhibition, can have a price tag of US$60,000 or more and nowadays, its demand has made virtually impossible to get an original and unmodified vehicle for restoration or customization.
As far as in the 70s, began the manufacturing of bodies and frames of the Model B, careful reproductions, firstly in fiberglass (relatively affordable) and later in steel (which are quite expensive, but not as much as the originals).
The B had basically two options in the engine department: an improved 201 cu in, 3.29 L, Inline 4 engine rated at 50 hp and a 221 cu in, 3.6 L, Flathead V8 engine rated at 65 hp. Despite the quality and reliability of the I4 engine (which was more successful in Europe), it was quickly dropped by the quite more popular V8 (a.k.a. Model 18 and later Model 40); because the people could get a better performance for just US$10 more!...
The popularity of this model was boosted as well by the affordability factor, the price range was between US$490 and US$650 depending on the body style, at that time...
The Hot Rods, along with the Muscle Cars have a place of honor in my blog and I have been working to bring some samples, those I love the most.
Hot Wheels knows that there is a critical mass of Hot Rods lovers around the world and has made some delicious casts to please us.
It was designed by Gary Saffer and released in 1998.
Despite its relatively recent appearance, it has debuted several times in Adult lines and well, the casting is truly beautiful, portraits nicely this classic Hot Rod with the chopped and lowered top, which lacks of fenders and hood / front panels, and has a huge engine (probably a V8 heavily modified).
After a long search, I got two versions of the ’32 Ford Coupe.
The first one belongs to an Adult line (Editor’s Choice Rod & Custom Magazine) made exclusively for Target;it has diecast body with white plastic chassis, the paint job in orange with Metalflake finishing is superb, as much as the decoration in glossy white and silver and includes the front grille; the interiors are black, it features Real Riders rubber tires with Chrome Hub wheels and it was made in Malaysia.
The other belongs to a Regular line, it has a flashy paint job in purple with Metalflake finishing, the decoration seems to be a self promotion of the hotwheels.com website (a bit unusual, even for Hot Wheels) it features diecast body and plastic chrome chassis, in this case the front grille was not painted but still looks great, black interiors and the plastic Lace Wheels are a sound decision, also it was made in China...
1 The 1:8-10 "For from you sounded out the Word of the LORD not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to GOD-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing. For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to GOD from idols, to serve the Living and True GOD; and to wait for HIS SON from heaven, whom HE raised from the dead, even JESUS which delivered us from the wrath to come."
the front grille (^O^), in this case, is more for decorative purposes, since an exposed engine hardly needs a radiator or any other cooling system... believe or not, there are a lot of actual cars (Hot Rods) which look like these ones !!!... the engine is exposed not only because it looks sexy and aggressive, or for cooling, but because these Hot Rods, made for high performance in drag racing, are modified removing all the unnecessary parts of the vehicle, in order to reduce the overall weight... =)

My alternate blog in WordPress
From now, I will be publishing basically the same contents in both blogs, but for reviews before March 18, 2019, you must read my Blogger blog...
I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...

It has a very cute design like an ^O^ in-front. The exposed engine, I guess isn't for practical purpose nevertheless the chrome parts makes it sexy.
