Cuanto más aprendo sobre carros, su historia, diseño, ingeniería, desarrollo y mercadeo; más me siento tanto muy sorprendido como muy decepcionado, sobre cómo son recibidos por los usuarios finales, los clientes... 

Algunas veces, impresionantes ideas automotrices o llamativos autos conceptuales, que se convierten en realidad y llegan a los concesionarios, son despreciados y condenados a la extinción, con ventas pobres... 

La gente simplemente no aprecia bien los esfuerzos hechos para crear algunos de los más hermosos vehículos jamás conocidos; son demasiado pragmáticos y la trascendencia de ciertos modelos está fuera de sus consideraciones... 

Tal vez es el hecho de que algunos coches están adelantados a su tiempo y por tanto, las personas temen invertir en un medio de transporte que desafía sus preconcepciones. 

Yo sé que para la mayoría de nosotros, un auto es una inversión seria así que, debes escoger cuidadosamente, con el fin de conseguir algo útil, confiable, distintivo, valioso y agradable... 

Pero eso es precisamente lo que un montón de gente no hace, simplemente porque quieren algo que los lleve del punto A al punto B y eso es todo... 

Bastante legítimo... Y bastante corto de vista también =PPPPP... 

Una de esas gemas, con una fecha de vencimiento más bien corta, fue la nunca bien ponderada Ford Parklane Station Wagon 2 Puertas de 1956. 

La idea detrás de este espléndido vehículo no fue del todo original, pues Ford tenía en mente crear un contendiente para el singular modelo Chevy Nomad. 

Toda una tarea, porque la Nomad fue un coche innovador, que sacudió el mercado automotriz. 

Sin embargo, así como su contraparte de Chevrolet, la Ford Parklane tuvo ventas más bien pálidas, en comparación con otros modelos de esa época. 

Un total de 15.186 Parklane fueron construidas, nada mal en sí mismo, pero dichas cifras están lejos de los verdaderos bestsellers y por eso Ford decidió descontinuar este producto en el mismísimo año siguiente. 

Esta linda station wagon estaba basada en el Ford Fairlane y a diferencia de su melliza, la Ford Ranch Station Wagon, presentaba el nivel de acabados premium. 

El diseño de carrocería era suavemente curvado, con una buena dosis de cromo en la rejilla frontal, los parachoques delanteros y traseros, y en los paneles laterales; el esquema de color de dos tonos era estándar y la combinación más común era blanco con un color pastel, lo cual era la tendencia reinante. 

A pesar del diseño icónico, las station wagon de 2 puertas eran difíciles de vender, porque las personas en ese tiempo, preferían el acceso más fácil a la segunda fila de asientos, de los modelos de 4 puertas. 

Solo dos trenes de potencia estuvieron disponibles: un motor de 223 pulgadas cúbicas "Mileage Maker", 6 En Línea, clasificado en 137 hp y el motor de 292 pulgadas cúbicas "Thunderbird" V8, clasificado en 202 hp... 

¡No excesivamente poderoso, pero muy bien para un modelo de lujo!... 

Aquí vamos de nuevo con una muestra de station wagons del portafolio Hot Wheels. 

En este caso, HW fue reacia a pagar una licencia externa y designó este modelo como 8 Crate; fue diseñado por Phil Riehlman y lanzado en 2003. 

Como una creación exclusiva, recibió un tratamiento personalizado con una parrilla frontal más simple y con todo, excelente; un exótico sunroof con una especie de entrada de aire y un enorme motor trasero dentro del área de carga... 

No estoy bastante seguro si esto podría ser "práctico" en la vida real, ¡pero luce maravillosa!... 

Ya que este modelo es encantador, conseguí cuatro versiones de diferentes líneas. 

La primera es precisamente el modelo debút, pertenece a la Serie First Editions, parte de la línea Regular; presenta carrocería en diecast y chasis gris metalizado plástico con acentos e interiores cromados, ventanas tintadas en violeta, dramático trabajo de pintura de dos tonos en negro / plateado y ruedas plásticas 5 Spoke. 

La segunda pertenece a la Serie Cereal Crunchers, otra línea Regular; presenta carrocería en diecast y chasis plástico cromado con acentos e interiores cromados, ventanas tintadas en rojo, trabajo de pintura en blanco perlado con decoración de Lucky Charms y ruedas plásticas PR5. 

La tercera pertenece a la Serie Phil’s Garage, una línea Adulta; presenta carrocería y chasis en diecast con acentos e interiores cromados, ventanas ahumadas, trabajo de pintura de dos tonos en blanco perlado / vino tinto perlado y rimes Preferred Series Real Riders en blanco con una línea cromada alrededor y llantas de caucho. 

Y la última pertenece a la Serie HW Performance, también una línea Regular; presenta carrocería en diecast y chasis negro plástico con acentos e interiores cromados, ventanas ahumadas, trabajo de pintura en amarillo perlado con decoración Moon Eyes y ruedas plásticas 5 Spoke... =DDDDD

The more I learn about cars, their history, design, engineering, development and merchandising; the more I feel both greatly surprised as greatly disappointed about how these are received by the final users, the customers... 

Sometimes awesome automotive ideas or striking concept cars, which become reality and arrive to the car dealers, are despised and condemned to extinction with poor sales... 

People just don’t appreciate properly the efforts made to create some of the most beautiful vehicles ever known; they are too pragmatic and the trascendence of certain models is out of their considerations... 

Maybe is the fact that some cars are ahead of their time and hence, people fear to invest in a means of transportation which challenges their preconceptions. 

I know that for most of us, a car is a serious investment so, you should choose carefully, in order to get something useful, reliable, distinctive, valuable and goodly... 

But that’s precisely what a lot of people fail to do, just because they want something to take them from point A to point B and that’s all... 

Quite legitimate... And quite nearsighted as well =PPPPP... 

One of those gems, with an expiration date rather short, was the never well weighted 1956 Ford Parklane 2-Door Station Wagon. 

The idea behind this gorgeous vehicle was not completely original, since Ford had in mind to create a contender for the halo model Chevy Nomad. 

A whole task, because the Nomad was a groundbreaking car, which shook the automotive market. 

However, as its Chevrolet counterpart, the Ford Parklane had rather pale sales, in comparison with other models at that time. 

A total of 15,186 Parklane were built, not bad in itself, but such figures are far from the true bestsellers and that’s why Ford decided to discontinue this product in the very next year. 

This nice station wagon was based on the Ford Fairlane and unlike its twin, the Ford Ranch Station Wagon, featured the premium trim level. 

The body design was gently curved with a good dose of chrome in the front grille, front and rear bumpers, and the side panels; the two tones paint scheme was standard and the most common combination was white with a pastel color, which was the prevailing trend. 

Despite the iconic design, the 2-door station wagons were hard to sell, because people at that time, preferred the easier access for the second row of seats, of the 4-door models. 

Only two powertrains were available: a 223 CID "Mileage Maker", Inline 6 engine rated at 137 hp and the 292 CID "Thunderbird" V8 engine, rated at 202 hp... 

Not excessively powerful, but pretty fine for a luxury model!... 

Here we go again with a sample of station wagons from the Hot Wheels portfolio. 

In this case, HW was reluctant to pay an external license and designated this model as 8 Crate; it was designed by Phil Riehlman and released in 2003. 

As an exclusive creation, it received a custom treatment with a simpler yet great front grille; an exotic sunroof with a sort of scoop and a huge rear engine inside the cargo area... 

I’m not pretty sure if this could be "practical" in the real life, but it does look marvelous!... 

Since this model is lovely, I got four versions from different lines. 

The first one is precisely the debut model, belongs to the First Editions Series, part of the Regular line; features diecast body and plastic metallic grey chassis with chrome accents and interiors, violet tinted windows, dramatic two tones paint job in black / silver and 5 Spoke plastic wheels. 

The second one belongs to the Cereal Crunchers Series, another Regular line; features diecast body and plastic chrome chassis with chromed accents and interiors, red tinted windows, pearled white paint job with Lucky Charms decor and PR5 plastic wheels. 

The third one belongs to the Phil’s Garage Series, an Adult line; features diecast body and chassis with chrome accents and interiors, smoked tinted windows, two tones paint job in pearled white / pearled burgundy and Preferred Series Real Riders wheels in white with a chrome line around and rubber tires. 

And the last one belongs to the HW Performance Series, also a Regular line; features diecast body and plastic black chassis with chrome accents and interiors, smoked windows, pearled yellow paint job with Moon Eyes decor and 5 Spoke plastic wheels... =DDDDD
