Comúnmente, la idea de desarrollar un auto para la gente que, por asuntos históricos, es asociado con frecuencia a "Volkswagen" (una palabra alemana compuesta, transformada en marca), es atribuida a la mente de Adolfo Hitler; sin embargo, siendo fiel a la historia misma, eso no es entera o absolutamente cierto...
El Volkswagen Escarabajo, como es ampliamente conocido, pero designado oficialmente por su nombre "técnico": Tipo 1 es, más que cualquier otra cosa, un auto conceptual en todo el sentido de la palabra...
Lo que quiero decir con auto conceptual, para ser preciso, es un coche desarrollado, muy a menudo desde cero, basado en ciertos parámetros, con el fin de cumplir propósitos predeterminados y satisfacer necesidades particulares, con una visión global...
Un carro como este, no es meramente una "mercancía" para producción masiva; es más bien, una idea que llega a ser realidad, con el fin de poner a prueba una cierta manera de pensar o ideología y cambiar la mentalidad de las personas alrededor, sobre lo que debería ser un auto; en otras palabras, un producto intelectual.
En ese sentido, un producto como este, difícilmente podría ser considerado el resultado de una sola mente y es, en realidad, el resultado de la confluencia de varias mentes sobre el asunto o incluso de una generación completa.
En el caso del Escarabajo, el coche tiene algunas referencias importantes de vehículos diseñados y producidos previamente, como el May Bug de 1933, creado por el ingeniero húngaro-alemán-judío Josef Ganz y el posterior Standard Superior de 1933-1935, creado por Standard Fahrzeugfabrik de Ludwigsburgo, Alemania, basado en patentes pertenecientes a Ganz.
Otros vehículos, como el Tatra V570 de 1933, creado por el diseñador austriaco Hans Ledwinka, para la compañía checoslovaca Tatra, junto con el más grande, más potente y más lujoso Tatra T77 de 1934 (creado en asocio con el ingeniero automotriz alemán Erich Überlacker), requirieron el desarrollo de numerosos componentes mecánicos y/o de diseño, como el motor plano gemelo trasero, refrigerado por aire con transmisión trasera, los cuales fueron patentados y después usados, sin permiso, por Ferdinand Porsche, el ingeniero automotriz a cargo, para la creación del Tipo 1 (Escarabajo).
Si miras al Tatra T77a de 1935, desarrollado con el mayor sigilo, ya que era el modelo más racionalizado y aerodinámico, creado exitosamente para la producción masiva en Europa, tiene una semejanza simplemente innegable con el Tipo 1; el modelo final de producción, hecho inicialmente para los miembros más prominentes del Tercer Reich.
Esta bien si tú, como diseñador, eres influenciado por el trabajo de otros colegas o tomas cualquier otra referencia visual, para desarrollar tu propia idea sobre un cierto producto y, si eres lo suficientemente humilde y ético, reconocerás dichas influencias...
Pero cuando tú robas ideas sin miramientos o las usas sin permiso (lo cual es lo mismo, al final), tú no eres más un diseñador o estilista o ingeniero; eres simplemente un plagiario vulgar y patético...
Honestamente, no es agradable hablar y darse cuenta de estos temas oscuros, relacionados con la historia del automóvil y específicamente con el Volkswagen Escarabajo, uno de mis carros favoritos de todos los tiempos.
No obstante, todos estos hechos, son parte de lo que el Escarabajo es; para bien o para mal, tienes que aceptarlos, como elementos que te permiten sopesar lo que está involucrado en ser uno de los vehículos más relevantes en la industria, y cómo esto afecta a la humanidad y a la historia...

Tuve una necesidad repentina de conseguir más diecast relacionados con mi mimado Escarabajo pero, como ocurre muy a menudo, mis gustos hacen la búsqueda más difícil de lo usual, porque son obviamente muy deseados.
De nuevo, gracias a la ayuda de DIOS primeramente y un par de colegas coleccionistas e importadores, conseguí cinco muestras del molde del Escarabajo, hecho por Hot Wheels.
Este modelo, diseñado una vez más por Larry Wood y lanzado por primera vez en 1989, para la Línea Principal, ha sido ampliamente producido y tiene más de 59 versiones / variantes hasta nuestros días.
No es solamente un lindo molde, agradablemente detallado, sino que tiene una característica que siempre apreciamos, como coleccionistas: construcción completa en diecast (carrocería y chasis).
Ha sido designado de diferentes maneras, dependiendo de la serie: "VW Beetle", "VW Bug", "Volkswagen Beetle" y a todas estas, no es el primer molde basado en un Escarabajo, hecho por Hot Wheels.
Toma como referencia el Volkswagen Escarabajo 1100 Tipo 1 de 1953, en versiones Sedán y Convertible.
Brevemente, describiré las cinco versiones que estoy publicando hoy, fue un deber para mí incluir mi maravilloso Volkswagen Escarabajo 1200 Berlina 2 Puertas de 1964 por Johnny Lightning y la única cosa que puedo agregar es que, ¡todos me encantan!...
El primero pertenece a la Serie Holiday Rods, una línea Adulta hecha exclusivamente para Wal-Mart, que venía dentro de un clamshell grandioso; tiene un hermoso trabajo de pintura en azul pastel con decoración sobria en blanco y plateado, muy sutil; interiores blancos, ventanas transparentes, ruedas multiparte con rimes de diseño Preferred Series Real Riders cromados, ruedas labradas en caucho y fue hecho en China.
El segundo es parte de la Línea Principal y también parte de la Serie Kar Keepers, una línea que incluía un protector especial de tarjeta, desarrollado por HW; tiene un gran trabajo de pintura en un esquema de dos colores; blanco plano para los guardafangos y los estribos laterales, y azul oscuro con acabado Metalflake para el resto de la carrocería, decoración en blanco incluyendo un logo diminuto de Hot Wheels Collectors; interiores negros, ventanas transparentes, ruedas plásticas con rimes de diseño 5 Spoke cromados y fue hecho en Tailandia.
El tercero es parte de las líneas Regulares, pero tiene una tarjeta especial e impactante con un diseño atípico, donde los colores rojo y amarillo con los "personajes principales", en vez del azul usual y es muy pulcro; el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en negro brillante con una decoración feliz sobre los paneles laterales en blanco, amarillo, naranja y rojo; interiores negros, ventanas tintadas en rojo, ruedas plásticas con un diseño de rimes fantástico Y 5 Spoke dorado y fue hecho en Malasia.
El cuarto pertenece a la Serie Mystery Cars, parte de las líneas Regulares, es el modelo convertible y lo conseguí suelto; el trabajo de pintura es delicioso en rosado / morado con acabados Metalflake y perlado, decoración sutil con llamas en rosado oscuro / morado con acabado mate, sobre los paneles laterales; interiores blancos, parabrisas transparente, ruedas plásticas con diseño de rimes 10 Spoke cromados y fue hecho en Malasia.
El quinto y final pertenece a la Serie Easter Eggclusives, otro convertible de línea Regular ligeramente mejorada, hecho exclusivamente para Wal-Mart; el trabajo de pintura es divertido, en blanco con acabado perlado y decoración prolija en rosado claro, morado, rosado cálido y azul claro sobre los paneles laterales, el capó y el baúl; interiores púrpura, ventanas tintadas en rosado cálido, ruedas plásticas con diseño de rimes 5 Spoke amarillos y fue hecho en Tailandia...

Commonly, the idea of developing a car for the people that, for historical issues, is often associated with "Volkswagen" (a german compound word, transformed in brand), is attributed to the mind of Adolf Hitler; however, being faithful to the history itself, that’s not entirely or absolutely true...
The Volkswagen Beetle as it’s widely known, but officially designated by its "technical" name: Type 1 is, more than anything else, a concept car in all the sense of the word...
What I mean with concept car, to be precise, is a car developed, very often from the scratch, based on certain parameters, in order to fulfill predetermined purposes and meet particular needs, with a global vision...
A car like this, is not merely a "commodity" for mass production; is rather an idea that becomes reality, in order to test a certain way of thinking or ideology and change the mindset of the people around, about what a car should be; in other words, an intellectual product.
In that sense, a product like this, hardly could be considered the result of a single mind and is actually, the result of the confluence of several minds on the matter or even a whole generation.
In the case of the Beetle, the car have some important references from vehicles designed and produced previously, like the 1933 May Bug created by the german-hungarian-jewish engineer Josef Ganz and the later 1933-1935 Standard Superior, created by Standard Fahrzeugfabrik of Ludwigsburg, Germany, based on patents belonging to Ganz.
Other vehicles, like the 1933 Tatra V570, created by the austrian designer Hans Ledwinka, for the czechoslovakian company Tatra, along with the bigger, more powerful and more luxurious 1934 Tatra T77 (created in partnership with the german automotive engineer Erich Überlacker), required the development of numerous mechanical and/or design components, like the air-cooled-flat-twin rear engine with rear wheel drive layout, which were patented and later used, without permission, by Ferdinand Porsche, the automotive engineer in charge for the creation of the Type 1 (Beetle).
If you look at the 1935 Tatra T77a, developed with the greatest secret, since it was the most aerodynamic and streamlined model, created successfully for mass production in Europe, it has a just undeniable resemblance with the Type 1; the final production model, made initially for the most prominent members of the Third Reich.
It’s fine if you, as designer, are influenced by the work of other colleagues or take any other visual reference, to develop your own idea about a certain product and, if you’re humble and ethical enough, you will recognize such influences...
But when you steal ideas unceremoniously or use them without permission (which is the same, in the end), you’re not a designer, or stylist or engineer anymore; you’re just a pathetic and vulgar plagiarist...
Honestly, is not nice to talk and realize about these dark topics, related with the history of the automobile and specifically with the Volkswagen Beetle, one of my all time favorites cars.
Nonetheless, all these facts, are part of what the Beetle is; for better or worse, you have to accept them, as the elements that let you heft what is involved into be one of the most relevant vehicles in the industry and how it affects the humanity and the history...
I think that I will share more information about this milestone of the automotive world in future publications so, stay tuned!...
I had a sudden need to get more diecast related with my pampered Beetle but, as happens very often, my tastes make the quest harder than usual, because these are obviously very sought after.
Again, thanks to help of GOD firstly and a pair of fellow collectors and importers, I got five samples of the Beetle cast, made by Hot Wheels.
This model, designed once more by Larry Wood and released for the first time in 1989, for the Mainline, has been widely produced and has more than 59 versions / variations until present days.
Is not only a cute casting, nicely detailed, but it has a feature we always appreciate as collectors: a full diecast construction (body and chassis).
It has been designated in different ways, depending on the series: "VW Beetle", "VW Bug", "Volkswagen Beetle" and by the way, is not the first mold based on a Beetle made by Hot Wheels.
It takes as reference the 1953 Volkswagen Beetle 1100 Type 1, in Saloon and Convertible versions.
Briefly, I will describe the five versions I’m publishing today, it was a must for me to include my wonderful 1964 Volkswagen Beetle 1200 2-Door Saloon by Johnny Lightning and the only thing that I could add is: that I love them all!...
The first one belongs to the Holiday Rods Series, an Adult line made exclusively for Wal-Mart, that came inside a great clamshell; it has a beautiful paint job in baby blue with a sober decoration in white and silver, very subtle; white interiors, clear windows, multipart wheels with Preferred Series Real Riders chrome rims design, styled rubber tires and it was made in China.
The second one is part of the Mainline and also part of the Kar Keepers Series, a line that included a special card protector developed by HW; it has a great paint job in a two color scheme: plain white for the fenders and running boards and dark blue with Metalflake finishing for the rest of the body, decoration in white including a tiny Hot Wheels Collectors logo; black interiors, clear windows, plastic wheels with 5 Spoke chrome rims design and it was made in Thailand.
The third one is part of the Regular lines, but it has a special and striking card with an atypical design, where the red and yellow colors are the "main characters", instead of the usual blue and is very dapper; the paint job was made in glossy black with a happy decoration on the side panels in white, yellow, orange and red; black interiors, red tinted windows, plastic wheels with a fantastic golden Y 5 Spoke rims design and it was made in Malaysia.
The fourth one belongs to the Mystery Cars Series, part of the Regular lines, is the convertible model and I got it loose; the paint job is delicious in pink / purple with Metalflake and pearlescent finishes, subtle decoration with flames in dark pink / purple with flat finishing, on the side panels; white interiors, clear windshield, plastic wheels with 10 Spoke chrome rims design and it was made in Malaysia.
The fifth and final one belongs to the Easter Eggclusives Series, is another convertible from a slightly improved Regular line, made exclusively for Wal-Mart; the paint job is funny, in white with pearlescent finishing and prolix decoration in light pink, purple, hot pink and light blue on the side panels, the hood and the trunk; purple interiors, hot pink tinted windshield, plastic wheels with 5 Spoke yellow rims design and it was made in Thailand...

It's a mixture of cute, fun and off road design. The different wheel size made it look unlike the classic Volks Beetle. Paints are really glossy and I especially like the white and pink without the canopy. The Colour scheme reminded me of the ice-cream truck in Transformers movie ^_^
this casting was made with a tremendous cuteness factor in mind, i guess... also i think this model looks fantastic in almost all the decorations and color schemes it has been released... the VW Beetle is always a sure bet, since it’s widely recognized worldwide... the smaller it gets, the cuter it is... it drives me crazy LOLOLOLOL !!!... =D
