He estado despotricando sobre las "cajas de fósforos" japonesas de los 70s y no he cambiado mi manera de pensar una sola micra.
Pero ahora mismo estoy publicando un Honda Civic... ¿No es irónico?...
¡NO!...
Es decir, en la primera generación de este veterano auto oriental, por allá en 1973, el diseño entendido como algo estético no fue definitivamente el objetivo del Civic y no importa cuan "lindo" sea considerado por algunas personas; puesto que lindo no es necesariamente hermoso, en la misma forma que alguien podría considerar "linda" la cabeza de un jabalí...
El atractivo principal de este vehículo era el mínimo consumo de combustible y ni siquiera un equipamiento "decente" estaba disponible o un bonito motor (con apenas un 4 cilindros, 1.169 cc)...
¡Era precisamente el opuesto a los autos americanos de aquella época!...
Supongo que la gente, presionada por la crisis petrolera, estaba desesperada por comprar uno de esos "ratoncitos" y por ese motivo sus ventas no fueron tan malas.
Afortunadamente el tiempo pasó y el Civic evolucionó, creciendo para alcanzar la categoría de compacto y mejorando su estética, tanto que ahora es un contendor serio en los concursos de tuning!...
El Honda Civic Si de 2003 Coupé Hatchback Compacto tiene nuevas características con "números" interesantes que dejan atrás el concepto de una horrible "caja de fósforos" de los 70s.
Se supone que es un auto de "rendimiento" que cambió el motor anterior de 1.6 a uno de 2.0 i-VTEC 4 cilindros, con "monstruosos" 160 hp (!?)...
No me quita el aliento, pero si logras el nivel adecuado de revoluciones, puedes exprimir el jugo de este tipo y ¡pasar un buen rato!...
La particularidad de este modelo es que únicamente estaba disponible como un hatchback de 2 puertas, una herejía para los amantes del Civic que lo consideraban muy "encajado" para su gusto.
Estoy presentando una réplica a escala muy bonita del Honda Civic Si por Muscle Machines.
Este es un modelo "ligeramente" modificado cuya escala es 1:60, aunque la tarjeta reclama ser 1:64.
Estupendos detalles, trabajo de pintura (en chartreusse, con acabado de escarcha metálica) y tampografía, llantas en caucho y diseño de rimes genial, apertura del capó con motor cromado y pintado, incluye también un enorme deflector trasero que lo hace ver menos "encajado".
Los interiores están muy bien trabajados, con vistosos asientos delanteros de competición y timón en rojo (a la izquierda, estilo occidental).
No hay duda acerca de la calidad y buena presentación de estas mini-réplicas, así que entiendo porque están llegando a ser más costosas y escasas con el paso del tiempo.

I have been ranting about the Japanese matchboxes from the 70s and I have not changed my mind a single micron.
But right now I’m publishing a Honda Civic... Isn’t it ironic?...
NO!...
I mean, in the first generation of this "veteran" eastern car, back in 1973, the design understood as something aesthetic definitely was not the goal of the Civic and it doesn’t matter how "cute" is considered by some people, since cute is not necessarily beautiful, in the same way that someone could consider "cute" the head of a wild boar...
The main attractive of this vehicle was the minimum fuel consumption and not even a "decent" equipment were available or a nice engine (with barely a four-cylinder, 1,169 cc)...
It was just the opposite of the American cars in that age!...
I guess that people, forced by the oil crisis, were desperate to buy one of those "mice" and hence the sales were not that bad.
Fortunately time passed and the Civic has evolved, growing to reach the compact category and improving its aesthetics, so much that now is a serious contender in the tuning contests!...
The 2003 Honda Civic Si Compact Coupe Hatchback has brand new features with interesting "numbers" that leave behind the ugly "matchbox" concept of the 70s.
This is assumed to be a "performance" car which changed the previous 1.6 engine to a 2.0 i-VTEC 4-cylinder, with "monstrous" 160 hp (!?)...
It doesn’t take my breath away but if you achieve the correct level of revolutions, you can squeeze the juice of this guy and have a good time!...
The particularity of this model is that it was only available as a 2-door hatchback, a heresy for the Civic fans who considered it too "boxy" for their taste.
I’m introducing a very nice scale replica of the Honda Civic Si by Muscle Machines.
This is a "slightly" modified model whose scale is 1:60, albeit the card claims to be 1:64.
Stupendous details, paint job (in chartreuse, with metal flake finishing) and tampos, rubber tires and great wheels design, opening hood with chrome and painted engine, includes also an enormous rear spoiler that makes it look less "boxy".
The interiors are very well worked, with flashy front racing seats and steering wheel in red (leftward, western style).
No doubt about the quality and great looking of these mini-replicas, so I do understand why they’re becoming more expensive and scarce as time goes by.

Seems like Japanese cars ain't really your cup of tea... I would prefer the older version of Honda Civic to this and the spoiler seems kind of weird on the car. Well, it's meant to be a nice addition. The diecast look very nice and detail other than that. The stand card looks like a car magazine cover. Is this an appendix that come with buying the magazine? BTW, it's a very in depth review pal. Cheers!
actually is not that i dislike all kinds of japanese cars, but the everyday cars (compacts or subcompacts) which look for me precisely like ugly matchboxes, specially the old ones... my opinion about the sport, exotic, luxury and micromachine japanese cars is different, so most of them fit my taste (and this one is sweet, for sure !!!)...
i think the weird look of the rear spoiler is due to the unusual geometry of the Civic Si body... you know, the shape of the spoilers depends more on the aerodynamics than on the aesthetic...
by the way, no, this diecast is not a promo item or bonus of a car magazine... on the contrary, is a deluxe diecast which includes a nice card with a scale reproduction of a cars magazine cover, a particularity of this specific series... as always THX for your kind comments, pal... =)
Cool Honda Civic.... I surely would love this, I saw it in one of the local shop here recently but I didn't pick it up because this is the "American version" - so yeah... you know what I mean... if it's Japanese car, I demanded that it comes with "Right Hand Steering Wheel" hahahaha - but then again, that is personal taste only. Anyway, this scale model deserve all the credits - simply amazing!!!
this Civic comes in 2 versions, the other has a cooper polychromed paint job (i would have preferred the latter, but i couldn’t get it =/////)... the left wheel is unusual, i expected as well a right wheel but is pretty fine for me since this diecast overall is very, very attractive and i really love the tampos... moreover this series is becoming more and more scarce and expensive as time goes by !!! =D
I agree with the cuteness of the previous Civic models like the 1970 LOL but it doesn't seem to be your type. I am a fan of Civic, it's my favorite import racer though I don't know much about them and because I can't afford to buy one now, I thought of the Honda Jazz would be a nice replacement as it's more cheaper and it's "cute" haha but that's another story LOL.
I just noticed that you are posting Japanese cars lately (trueno) despite of not liking into asian sports cars haha is that a change of heart? lol.
Nice model by Muscle Machines! And speaking of which, I've been seeing a lot by their models lately in toy stores. I am very tempted to get one but I'm justifying it 'coz most of it are not my line of collection but you know, they are so tempting like this one you have hahaha! I think Muscle Machines is the best models by Maisto. Let's see how long can I resist it hahaha.
errrrr... nope, i didn’t say that i don’t like japanese sport cars, indeed i like most of them, also japanese cars of other segments/types (including micromachines, the recent ones of course =PPPPP)... but yeah 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s were not so good decades in everyday cars design matters for Japan...
now, i’m not used to own/publish something i don’t like (like others collectors do) just to rant about those items (i don’t have money to waste !!!)... so, everything you see published here (and part of my collection) is because i like/love it !!! =D
on the other hand, Muscle Machines was an independent company until not long ago and these models of mine (and others i will publish... you know... someday...) are from that time, before its acquisition by Maisto... with all due respect, Maisto doesn’t meet my standards of quality/detail/finishings, so... @.@
P.S. i’m planning to increase my share of Asian Muscle Cars !!!... =OOOOO
