What’s better than one classic?...
How about two?... A pair of twins!...
Well, there is very little to add to my previous post on this 1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe =/////...
Most of the incredible features of the first American Muscle Car have been already mentioned.
Maybe, I can talk a bit more about the contradiction behind the emergence of this paradigm of the car industry...
Inside a giant like General Motors Company, the sound competition among the different brands that comprise it, is something pretty normal, at least into the role.
A way to make the "rivalry" less "bloody", is precisely to create a distinctive profile, making a difference with peers, choosing a piece of market to attack so the other brands could take the rest and nobody gets hurt LOL!...
The emphasis of Pontiac was, for instance, the performance and the whole marketing strategy was driven to generate this expectation.
The problem was that GM didn’t want to get involved in the auto racing, probably due to the halo of illegality of this emerging practice and nobody wants a "rebel" corporation around.
They were not considering the tremendous potential of the car races to catapult the name of the company and well, a marketing approach heavily based on performance without a car, you know, with PERFORMANCE, will not go anywhere.
Fortunately the managers of this great idea, I mean, the Pontiac GTO, had more common sense than the rest of executives and they never imagined the huge impact of their brainchild in the whole car history.
Hot Wheels and its Treasure Hunts Series are here again, knocking the door of my humble blog, with the mythical 1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe.
Recently I published the Johnny Lightning version of this car (check out the post here), which is fantastic and a comparison between them would be a bit unfair.
However, I decided to include in the photo shoot this pair of beauties, along with other Pontiacs in my collection.
The level of detail in this casting is extremely good compared with other regular HW models, even the interiors are better and there is an opening hood with a detailed engine inside...
Seriously this is one of the best THs that I have seen and set a very high standard, not so usual in HW.
Rich paint job in emerald green polychrome and the flames decor is epic!...
Diecast body / chassis / engine with sporty wheels design, I love this model!... =DDDDD
Mat 3:10-12 "And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth, good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but HE that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: HE shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Whose fan is in His hand and HE will throughly purge His floor, and gather His wheat into the garner; but HE will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
Let’s wait for something else later... =)

Wow - this from Hot Wheels? The engine hood is openable? I never seen such Hot Wheels in here (with openable engine hood) except for the old Shelby Cobra. This is brilliant. Pontiac GTO is one of my favorite!!!
I have lots of car related posts uploaded just now, today, 6 of them, come and visit me if you dare LOL, you might like some of them...
well, very few models in the regular lines have this feature, most of them are in the adult lines, but being the Treasure Hunts Series an adult line i guess is something you could expect... however, is something very, very welcome !!! i think it looks cool and although there are not as much details as in a model by JL, for instance, the realism is quite improved... in fact, it doesn’t seem "pale" or nitwit beside the JL !!!...
oh !!! i’m on the way to your blog so, get ready... =D
Well, that also means, those models from JL is way much better than from HW hehehehe..... I really loved the "realism" provided by JL even at such tiny scale... too bad though now it's pretty hard to get JL products from the local retailers... sigh... wish I can turn back the time... oh well, not really, in fact if we are rich now, we can still buy those JL products from "E-vil Bay" hahahaha
HEHEHE... that’s what i thought "in the beginning"... but i have change my mind while i get to know better Hot Wheels... for example, in this case, the detail in the in the doorposts and in the front grille are more prolix in the HW than in the JL... also the front and rear bumpers look more realistic in the HW thanks to the laquered finishing over the "nude" diecast alloy... actually i would give them a fair dead heat =D...
on the other hand, i guess you were very fortunate to get those JLs you show me published... there is a good availability here in my country of this marvelous brand, but in my collection, most of them are ordered... e-Bay ??? no way !!! i have seen the prices there and most of them are untouchable... =/////
Not the car look vintage, it probably would think the toy itself is rather vintage. My deduction come from the amount of diecast used as it seems more those made these days.
i made my research and the casting is indeed recent (made since 2006) but it has that vintage taste and yep, you’re right bro, nowadays the use of plastic instead of diecast is rather abusive, you know, to cut down the costs... that’s why stuff like these are always welcome !!!... i wish that more scale replicas were built in full diecast *sigh*... ;(
