HAHAHA...
=) ENGLISH If I shout: "PONTIAC TEMPEST!"... People around me would say: "stop saying idiocies, man!... The sky is clear and the sun is burning!... Are you nuts?"...
But if I shout: "PONTIAC GTO!"... People around me would say: "where, where ?... We would kill for looking once more that sweet Muscle Car!... General Motors will burn in he..." HAHAHA...
By the way, NO, I’m not a screenwriter for surrealist movies, because I don’t have time for that.
Yeah, the start of this publication could make no sense for most of you and I don’t mean to be logical all the times.
But is a sample of how the same thing can go unnoticed and be public domain simultaneously.
It doesn’t make any sense yet? =PPPPP...
Well, let me explain it slowly (with modeling clay this time XDDDDD).
The story began with an entry-level (economic) compact created in 1961, on the same platform of the Buick Special / Skylark and the Oldsmobile F-85 / Cutlass.
The Pontiac Tempest was a car with little impact on the customers, so little that is barely remembered as a Pontiac model.
As a matter of fact, this name was discontinued in 1970 and changed by LeMans, something more appealing... "TEMPEST!... Are you nuts?..."
In 1964, the monocoque "Y" platform (compact size) was changed by the new A-body, to reach the medium size and something else happened...
The GTO package was offered and nothing would be the same.
The 1964 Pontiac (Tempest) GTO is officially the first Muscle Car in all the sense of the word.
Russell Gee (engine specialist), Bill Collins (chassis engineer) and John DeLorean (chief engineer), were the guilty for this amazing "mistake".
Could you believe that the sales manager at that time, Frank Bridge, didn’t believe that the GTO would find a market?...
Tell me more about the fulminating rejection of a GTO Bobcat package with a 421 cu in, 6.9 L, V8 engine, rated at something like 400 hp, Hurst shifter and other delicacies, by the potential buyers =PPPPP
The mythical 1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe (just like that) is now part of my collection, thanks to the great work of my dear Johnny Lightning.
This series is in fact vintage (released more than 10 years ago) but you can see all the lovely detail achieved, is stunning!...
It comes in a nice big card, since it’s a special line of JL.
The paint job and tampos are neat and there is a great contrast between the classic wheels design (with red lines on the tires) and the flute type scoops emerging from the hood (screaming high performance everywhere).
Diecast body / chassis (a true collectible), and detailed black interiors ("trade mark" in JL)... This diecast rocks! =DDDDD...
1 Chr 29:11-12 "Thine, Oh LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; Thine is the kingdom, oh LORD, and Thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come of thee, and Thou reignest over all; and in Thine Hand is power and might; and in Thine Hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all."
Another great addition of sweet Muscle Car pal.. Agreed with the even print job by JL and nice that some red were added to the tires. The opened bonnet is not my kind of practicability, but it's cool..
JL never fails to surprise me with all the great detail i demand from an american car... they conquered me since the first time i bought one of their models and my "love" for JL is still growing healthy !!!... =D
The red lines on the tires are in the actual/real model too !!!... they were indeed part of the "trims" available for certain models, mainly the luxury or high performance lines of the american car industry... it’s curious how the same great feature could like or dislike, depending on the personal tastes... for me, the openable hood is a gimmick always welcome !!!... =D

I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...
