2015 Aston Martin DB10 - Compact 2-Door 2-Seater Fastback Coupe Sports Car / Grand Tourer (Concept Car / Prototype Car Spectre - 007 Movie Car) 2016 HW Showroom Series 2/10 - 112/250 Diecast Scale 1:67 by Hot Wheels

Por cierta razón que permanece a la espera de ver la luz, porque siempre hay dos versiones de cualquier acontecimiento que puedas nombrar: la que es ampliamente divulgada, también conocida como "versión oficial" y la versión real o verdadera, ha habido una "camaradería" especial entre la franquicia 007 - James Bond y Aston Martin... 

Si bien la saga de Ian Fleming acerca del arquetípico agente secreto británico y sus aventuras tratando de salvar el mundo, otro producto de la industria del entretenimiento, ha presentado varios autos de diferentes marcas y procedencias, ha habido una presencia consistente de vehículos británicos en la pantalla, lo cual es de esperarse debido a la proveniencia del protagonista, por supuesto... 

Alguien argumentaría que el primer filme de la franquicia, a saber Dr. No, lanzada en 1962, no presentó ningún Aston Martin y que incluso en la segunda película, a saber From Russia With Love (De Rusia Con Amor), lanzada en 1963, ni un solo auto de esta marca fue visto, "solo" un Bentley Mark IV y es verdad, no podría estar en desacuerdo. 

Pero esta especie de "asunto amoroso automotriz" comenzó con el tercer filme, a saber Goldfinger, lanzado en 1964 y desde entonces la Serie DB de Aston Martin ha sido "sinónimo" de coche 007, lo cual ha beneficiado ambas marcas sustancialmente (probablemente parte de la razón de su "camaradería"). 

Ahora, el Aston Martin DB5 ha sido por lejos el carro Bond más reconocido, tanto que ha sido presentado en 6 de los filmes 007, bueno 8 veces si cuentas su introducción en las películas más recientes, Spectre y No Time To Die (Sin Tiempo Para Morir), pero esta vez estoy introduciendo una interpretación más reciente de la Serie para esta publicación: el Aston Martin DB10 de 2015, un Auto Deportivo Compacto Fastback Coupé 2 Puertas 2 Plazas / Gran Turismo. 

Lo que hace sobresalir a este DB entre otros vehículos con esta designación, es que a diferencia de ellos, el DB10 nunca fue destinado a ser un coche de producción, quiero decir, incluso como el auto concepto que es, no estaba dirigido a ser más que un "boceto", sobretodo porque se apartaba notablemente del lenguaje de diseño que Aston Martin estaba usando hasta ahora para la Serie DB. 

Con todo, el director de la 24ª entrega de la franquicia 007, Sam Mendes, fue capaz de convencer al equipo del estudio de diseño en Aston Martin para construir un carro de película basado en el bosquejo de Marek Reichman, el talentoso diseñador detrás de este concepto y 10 unidades fueron construidas en un chasis agrandado del V8 Vantage. 

El resultado fue un auto deportivo despampanante (más deportivo y más enojado que un gran turismo en efecto) presentando algunas señales de diseño que fueron incorporadas paulatinamente en modelos posteriores de Aston Martin models (el Aston Martin Vantage de 2018, para ser más preciso). 

Un modelo más en sintonía con la personalidad más áspera del Bond actual: Daniel Craig; 1 de las 2 unidades producidas, las cuales fueron usadas solo para promoción, fue subastada, obteniendo buen dinero de seguro, aunque estos coches no pueden ser usados en ninguna vía pública, porque no se sometieron a los procesos de prueba obligatorios para vehículos de producción y son básicamente prototipos... 

Los carros populares, más que cualquier otra cosa, han sido un claro enfoque para la marca del logo llameante, por obvias razones, simplemente porque Hot Wheels es el fabricante de autos de juguete más grande y no puede darse el lujo de explorar con demasiada frecuencia vehículos oscuros, porque estos no garantizan ventas grandes, es así de simple... 

Con todo, el equipo de diseño ha tenido una especie de lucha titánica contra los ejecutivos a cargo de las decisiones financieras y puedes ver unas pocas "rarezas" apareciendo de cuando en vez por causa de sus esfuerzos... 

Aplaudo este trabajo, lo he venido haciendo desde hace un tiempo, porque de no ser por estos esfuerzos, Hot Wheels se convertiría en una marca pantagruélica con poco o ningún interés para coleccionistas o aún para compradores, debido a sus excesivas políticas de recorte de costos. 

Siendo así, toda la "gloria y fama" construida a través de campañas de mercadeo engañosas (porque la calidad que nosotros los coleccionistas exigimos, dejó de ser una prioridad para esta marca hace mucho tiempo), se desmoronaría en asunto de unos pocos años... 

Mi invitado para esta reseña de alguna forma se las arregla para ser una buena mezcla entre algo popular y algo raro, porque bueno, este es un coche de película, ¿correcto?, en ese sentido es una selección más bien obvia para la marca azul de Mattel, pero también es un carro prototipo, ilegal para la calle, con una producción de apenas 10 unidades, así que es interesante definitivamente. 

El diseño de este auto de juguete estuvo en las manos de Fraser Campbell y el trabajo es muy agradable en general, aunque para ser honesto la parrilla frontal en plástico negro no le hace ningún favor, simplemente porque debería ser hecha en diecast, en otras palabras parte de la carrocería, no de los interiores, pero de nuevo, las políticas de recorte de costos están allí para recordarnos la clase de compañía que Mattel es y la clase de marca que Hot Wheels es también: nada habla más claro acerca de eso que el producto en sí, sin importar las mentiras que los promotores de marca quieren esparcir. 

No puedo enfatizar lo suficiente que siendo un carro de juguete, las proporciones precisas no son su asunto y nunca lo fue, como con cualquier otro artículo de ese tipo: en este caso específico, mientras que la longitud es alrededor de escala 1:64 (no muy usual en esta marca, para los que realmente saben algo sobre asuntos de modelos a escala), el ancho es alrededor de escala 1:70, entonces luce notablemente más estrecho de lo que debería y la "escala" resultante es un promedio: cualquiera reclamando que un auto de juguete tiene proporciones consistentes es un ignorante por decisión, un promotor de marca tratando de complacer a los patrocinadores diciendo mentiras acerca de estos productos o ambos. 

Lo conseguí a través del mercado primario, en una tienda minorista local; es el modelo debút para la Serie HW Showroom de 2016, ha tenido 4 iteraciones para líneas en las categorías Regular y Adulta; el molde es muy decente en términos de detalle para un coche de juguete, aunque las luces de cola son apenas visibles. 

El modelo ofrece carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico plateado oscuro texturizado para dar la impresión de acabado metalizado; el trabajo de pintura en plateado con fino acabado Metalflake reproduce muy cercanamente el del carro real, fueron incluidos solo tampos y/o calcomanías para los faros delanteros, el emblema Aston Martin al frente y las sutiles aberturas de inducción de aire sobre el capó. 

Tiene ventanas tintadas en azul que no lucen tan bien, ahumadas serían mucho mejores y los interiores fueron trabajados en negro, con un nivel de detalle básico, como casi siempre; las ruedas plásticas presentan diseño de rimes 10 Spokes, con acabado cromado, algo similares a aquellos en el DB10 real y fue hecho en Malasia...

For a certain reason that remains waiting to see the light, because there is always two versions of any event you could name: the one that is widely disclosed, also known as "official version" and the actual or true version, there has been a special "partnership" between the 007 - James Bond franchise and Aston Martin... 

While the Ian Fleming’s saga about the archetypal British secret agent and his adventures trying to save the world, another product of the entertainment industry, has featured several cars from different brands and provenances, there has been a consistent presence of British vehicles on the screen, which is to be expected due to the provenance of the protagonist, of course... 

Someone would argue that the first film of the franchise, namely Dr. No, released in 1962, didn’t feature any Aston Martin and that even in the second movie, namely From Russia With Love, released in 1963, not a single car by that brand was seen, "only" a Bentley Mark IV and that’s true, I couldn’t disagree. 

But this sort of "automotive love affair" started with the third film, namely Goldfinger, released in 1964 and ever since the Aston Martin BD Series has been a "synonymous" of 007 ride, which has benefited both brands substantially (probably part of the reason of their "partnership"). 

Now, the Aston Martin DB5 has been by far the most recognized Bond car ever, so much that it was featured in 6 of the 007 films, well 8 times if you count its introduction in the most recent movies, Spectre and No Time To Die, but this time I’m introducing a more recent rendition of the Series for this publication: the 2015 Aston Martin DB10, a Compact 2-Door 2-Seater Fastback Coupe Sports Car / Grand Tourer. 

What makes standout this DB among other vehicles with this designation, is that unlike them, the DB10 was never meant to be a production car, I mean, even as the concept car it is, it was not aimed at being more than a "sketch", above all because it noticeably departed from the design language that Aston Martin was using until then for the DB Series. 

Yet, the director of the 24th installment of the 007 franchise, Sam Mendes, was able to convince the design studio team at Aston Martin to build a movie car based on the sketch by Marek Reichman, the talented designer behind this concept and 10 units were built on an enlarged V8 Vantage chassis. 

The result was a stunning sports car (sportier and angrier than a grand tourer indeed) featuring some design cues that were incorporated gradually in later Aston Martin models (the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage, to be more precise). 

A model more in tune with the rougher personality of the current Bond: Daniel Craig; 1 of the 2 units produced, which were used for only promotion, was auctioned, getting big money for sure, albeit these cars cannot be used on any public road, because they did not undergo the mandatory testing processes for production vehicles and they are basically prototypes... 

Popular cars, more than anything else, have been a clear focus for the brand of the flaming logo, for obvious reasons, just because Hot Wheels is the largest toy cars manufacturer and it can’t afford to explore too often obscure vehicles, because they do not guarantee big sales, is that simple... 

Yet, the design team have had a sort of titanic fight against the executives in charge of financial decisions and you can see a few "rarities" popping up every now and then because of those efforts... 

I applaud this work, I have been doing it since a while ago, because if not by these efforts, Hot Wheels would become a gargantuan brand with little to no interest for collectors or even for buyers, due to its excessive costs-cutting policies. 

Being so, all the "glory and fame" built through deceiving marketing campaigns (because the quality that we the collectors demand, stopped being a priority for this brand long ago), will crumble in a matter of a few years... 

My guest for this review somehow manages to be a good mix between something popular and something odd, because well, this is a movie car, right?, in that sense it’s a rather obvious selection for the blue brand of Mattel, but it’s also a prototype car, not legal for the street, with a production of barely 10 units, so it’s interesting definitely. 

The design of this toy car was in the hands of Fraser Campbell and the work is very nice in general, albeit to be honest the front grille in black plastic doesn’t make it any favor, just because it should be made in diecast, in other words, part of the body, not of the interiors, but again, the costs-cutting policies are there to remind us the kind of company Mattel is and the kind of brand Hot Wheels is too: nothing speaks more clearly about that than the product itself, regardless the lies brand promoters want to spread. 

I cannot stress enough that being a toy car, accurate proportions are not its matter and it never was, as with any other item of that kind: in this specific case, while the length is around 1:64 scale (not very usual in this brand, for those who really know about scale models matters), the width is around 1:70 scale, then it looks noticeably narrower than it should and the "scale" resulting is an average: anyone claiming that a toy car has consistent proportions is an ignorant by decision, a brand promoter trying to please sponsors by telling lies about these products or both. 

I got it through the primary market, in a local retail store; it’s the debut model for the 2016 HW Showroom Series, it has had 4 iterations for lines in the Regular and Adult categories; the mold is very decent in terms of detail for a toy car, although the tail lights are barely visible. 

The model offers diecast body and dark silver plastic chassis textured to give the impression of a metallic finishing; the paint job in silver with fine Metalflake finishing reproduces very closely the one in the actual car, there were included only tampos and/or decals for the headlights, the Aston Martin emblem in front and the subtle air induction openings on the hood. 

It has blue tinted windows that do not look so good, smoked would be much better and the interiors were worked in black, with a basic level of detail, as almost always; the plastic wheels feature 10 Spokes rims design, with chrome finishing, somewhat similar to those in the actual DB10 and it was made in Malaysia...

2002 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish - Compact 2-Door 2+2 Fastback Coupe / Sports Car / Grand Tourer - 2002 40th Anniversary 007 James Bond Heroic Horsepower Series 1/4 Diecast Scale 1:65 by Johnny Lightning

Seamos honestos, en este mismo instante, tú estás ya sea en camino a la crisis de los 40s o pasaste por ella, sobreviviste y ahora disfrutas más tu vida que antes, simplemente porque eres más seguro y menos estúpido, si tienes que tomar riesgos... 

Pienso que los 40s son una buena oportunidad de hacer algo grandioso (si no lo has hecho aún) o de lloriquear como una princesita sobre tus errores pasados, sin mirar lo que tienes por delante... 

Y esto no depende de las circunstancias; en realidad depende de ti, es un asunto de actitud y en todo caso, es una bendición, porque algunas personas no logran ver la luz del siguiente día... 

En un mundo de entusiastas del cine, demasiado acostumbrado a las trilogías (que son consideradas el mayor logro del séptimo arte); hay una singular saga de películas que ha cruzado ya la nada despreciable barrera de los 40 años, en el mercado cinematográfico: James Bond... 

Claramente, el 40º Aniversario del agente 007, debería ser la excusa perfecta para hacer una cinta épica; quiero decir, cuántos personajes han tenido tal larga vida en la pantalla gigante, ¿EH?... 

Las apuestas eran altas, los productores querían tirar la casa por la ventana (quizás demasiado) y el resultado fue: Otro Día Para Morir, lanzada en 2002 (40 años después de Dr. No)... 

A pesar de la prometedora introducción y algunos elementos buenos para la trama, esta entrega luce, más o menos, como un hombre fornido y barbado, vestido con sombrero vaquero, una chaqueta de esmoquin impecable, combinados con una minifalda de charol, medias de malla y tacones... ¡Una colcha de retazos vergonzosa!... 

Si no estuvieras familiarizado con James Bond, este sería otro filme de acción moderadamente sufrible de serie B, pero si has visto algunas películas del 007, sentirás que el agente de la MI6 fue degradado a "000" y que necesitas hacer otra cosa más productiva, que continuar viéndola... 

Ya sé que estoy siendo "algo" inescrupuloso con mi opinión sobre esta película, pero alguien más tiene que "castigar" a los productores, director, guionistas, diseñadores de efectos digitales y casi cualquier otro involucrado en semejante monstruosidad... 

Incluso un buen elenco de actores fue despilfarrado, con diálogos ridículos y una actuación acartonada; esto no es bueno, ni siquiera como parodia, porque necesitas buenas bromas, para empezar... 

Pero podrías preguntar, ¿sí hay algo rescatable en esta cinta?... 

Bueno, aparte de lo que ya ha sido mencionado anteriormente, pienso que la banda sonora de Madonna estuvo bien; un poquitín rara y demasiado electrónica para mi gusto, en un filme de Bond, pero bien (de hecho, pienso que su banda sonora para Austin Powers: El Espía Que Me Sacudió, es decir, Beautiful Stranger, ¡fue mucho mejor, en contexto!). 

Además y especialmente, el auto de Bond para esta película: un Aston Martin V12 Vanquish de 2002; en realidad, no hay absolutamente nada reprochable en esta elección (¡incluso el truquito poco creíble de "invisibilidad" para este coche, no logra empañar su esplendor!)... 

El Vanquish fue el reemplazo para la ya avejentada línea Virage y el anterior DB7 GT, pertenece a la primera generación del modelo (2001-2007) y puedes notar una importante mejora en el diseño en general, que luce más desafiante, combinando elementos de vanguardia y clásicos, el frente es realmente sobresaliente, ¡recordando el estilo distintivo del DB5!... 

Un diseñador de carros británico, Ian Callum, fue el responsable de este desarrollo y obviamente, no era un recién llegado en este segmento, ya que acumuló una experiencia significativa trabajando con Ford, Ghia Design Studio, TWR Design y Jaguar. 

Presenta una construcción con la última tecnología disponible para esa fecha, tanto en el chasis, hecho con elementos de aluminio y carbono mezclados, además desarrollado por Lotus Engineering, como en la carrocería, hecha completamente a mano, en aluminio. 

El corazón de este GT era un formidable motor de 362.2 pulgadas cúbicas, 5.9 L, V12, clasificado en 460 hp, acoplado a una transmisión electrohidráulica manual de 6 velocidades y tracción trasera, ofreciendo una velocidad máxima de 306 km/h (190 mph) y una aceleración de 0-100 km/h en apenas 4.7 segundos... 

Debo añadir que, para la película Otro Día Para Morir, la exótica planta de poder V12 con tracción trasera, fue cambiada por un motor V8 de Ford con tracción en las cuatro ruedas, con el fin de incrementar la tracción sobre hielo... 

Esto es, más o menos, el cierre de un ciclo, donde modelos producidos por Johnny Lightning para la celebración del 40º Aniversario del 007, fueron presentados en este blog y reitero mi complacencia, por causa del impresionante trabajo de la marca en estos modelos. 

Me encanta el hecho que ellos incluyeron vehículos europeos e incluso unos pocos asiáticos, los cuales son muy escasos en el portafolio de JL y muy buscados por seguidores de la marca, como yo. 

Este molde es una muestra patente de su laborioso trabajo, cuando se trata de nivel de detalle y acabados en una réplica a escala, aunque hay algunos problemas con la proporción y la postura; en todo caso, estoy bastante seguro que en Johnny Lightning ha habido un compromiso claro con la calidad y el realismo, especialmente en la era Playing Mantis y de ahí en adelante. 

El modelo presenta una construcción completa en diecast (carrocería y chasis) como fue la regla para cualquier modelo de JL, hasta poco antes de la adquisición de la marca por Takara Tomy. 

El trabajo de pintura para esta réplica de película fue en plateado con tampos delicados para las luces delanteras y de conducción, placa frontal, entradas de aire sobre el capó y paneles laterales frontales, las molduras de las ventanas, luces de cola, placa trasera, luces de parqueo, exhostos traseros y los diminutos emblemas frontal y posterior de Aston Martin. 

Los interiores en negro son muy detallados, con el respectivo timón a la derecha, las ventanas recibieron tampos adicionales; sin embargo, no hay apertura de capó. 

Las ruedas son multiparte con rimes deportivos plateados y ruedas en caucho labradas (quisiera que fueran un poquitín más grandes, como en el coche real, pero no es un gran problema) y fue hecho en China... 

Gen 17:1-5 "Era Abram de edad de noventa y nueve años, cuando le apareció JEHOVÁ y le dijo: YO SOY EL DIOS TODOPODEROSO; anda delante de MÍ y sé perfecto. Y pondré MI Pacto entre MÍ y tí, y te multiplicaré en gran manera. Entonces Abram se postró sobre su rostro, y DIOS habló con él, diciendo: He aquí MI Pacto es contigo, y serás padre de muchedumbre de gentes. Let’s be honest, at this very moment, you’re either in the way of the crisis of the 40s or you passed through it, you survived and now you enjoy even more your life than before, just because you’re more confident and less stupid, if you have to take risks... 

I think that the 40s are a good chance to make something great (if you haven’t done so yet) or to whine like a little princess about your past mistakes, without looking at what you have ahead... 

And it doesn’t depend on the circumstances; actually it depends on you, is a matter of attitude and anyway it’s a blessing, because some people do not get to see the light of the next day... 

In a world of movie enthusiasts, too used to the trilogies (which are considered the crowning achievement of the seventh art); there is a singular movie saga that has already crossed the not inconsiderable frontier of the 40 years, in the cinematic market: James Bond... 

Clearly, the 40th Anniversary of the 007 agent, should be the perfect excuse to make an epic movie; I mean, how many characters have had such long life in the silver screen, HUH?... 

The stakes were high, the producers wanted to throw away the boat out (perhaps, a bit too much) and the result was: Die Another Day, released in 2002 (40 years after Dr. No)... 

Despite the promising introduction and some good elements for the plot, this installment looks pretty much like a bearded and burly man, dressed with cowboy hat, an immaculate tuxedo jacket, combined with a patent leather miniskirt, fishnet stockings and heels... A shameful patchwork quilt!... 

If you were not familiarized with James Bond, this would be another B series moderately bearable action film, but if you have seen some 007 movies, you will feel that the MI6 agent was degraded to "000" and that you need to do something else more productive, than continue watching it... 

I know that I’m being "kinda" unscrupulous with my opinion about this movie, but someone else have to "punish" the producers, director, screenwriters, CGI designers and almost anyone else involved in the creation of such eyesore... 

Even a good cast of actors was squandered, with ludicrous lines and stilted performances; this is not good not even as parody, because you need good jokes, to begin with... 

But you might ask if there is anything salvageable in this movie?... 

Well, apart from what was already mentioned above, I think that the Madonna soundtrack was fine, a tad odd and too electronic for my taste, in a Bond film, but fine (in fact, I think that her soundtrack for Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, i.e. Beautiful Stranger, was far better, in context !!!). 

Also and specially, the Bond car for this movie: a 2002 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish Grand Tourer; actually, there is absolutely nothing blameworthy in this selection (even the scarcely credible "invisibility" gadget for this ride, fails to tarnish its splendor!)... 

The Vanquish was the replacement for the already aged Virage line and the previous DB7 GT, it belongs to the first generation of the model (2001-2007) and you can notice an important improvement in the overall design, which looks defiant, combining a good dose of cutting edge and classic elements, the front is really outstanding, recalling the distinctive style of the DB5... 

A british car designer, Ian Callum, was the responsible of this development and obviously, he was not a newcomer in this segment, since he accumulated a significant experience working with Ford, Ghia Design Studio, TWR Design and Jaguar. 

It features a construction with the latest technology available at that time, both in the chassis made up of bonded aluminum and carbon elements, also developed by Lotus Engineering, as in the body, completely hand built in aluminum. 

The heart of this GT was a formidable 362.2 cu in, 5.9 L, V12 engine, rated at 460 hp, coupled to an electrohydraulic 6-speed manual transmission and rear wheel drive, offering a top speed of 306 km/h (190 mph) and a 0-100 km/h acceleration in barely 4.7 seconds !!!... 

I must add that, for the Die Another Day movie, the exotic V12 powerplant with rear wheel drive was changed by a V8 Ford engine with four wheel drive, in order to increase traction on ice... 

This is pretty much, the closing of a cycle, where models produced by Johnny Lightning for the celebration of the 007’s 40th Anniversary, were introduced in this blog and I reiterate my satisfaction, because of the awesome work of the brand on these models. 

I love the fact that they included several european and even a few asian vehicles, which are very scarce in the JL’s portfolio and highly sought by followers of this brand, like me. 

This cast is a patent sample of their laborious work, when it comes to level of detail and finishes in a scale replica, albeit there are some issues with proportion and stance; in any case, I’m pretty sure that in Johnny Lightning there has been a clear commitment with quality and realism, specially in the Playing Mantis era and thereafter. 

The model features full diecast construction (body and chassis), as was the rule for any JL model, until shortly before the acquisition of this brand, by Takara Tomy; the paint job for this movie replica was in silver with delicate tampos for the head and driving lights, front plate, air inlets on the hood and the side front panels, the windows moldings, tail lights, rear plate, signal lights, rear exhausts and the tiny front and tail Aston Martin emblems. 

The interiors in black are very detailed, with the respective right steering wheel, the windows received additional tampos; however, there is no openable hood. 

The wheels are multipart with silver sporty rims and styled rubber tires (I wish they were a bit larger, like in the actual car, but is not a big issue) and it was made in China...

En una saga tan larga, como aquella que describe las aventuras del personaje más famoso creado por sir Ian Lancaster Fleming, a saber: James Bond, puedes esperar algunos altibajos en cómo es percibido el resultado, por los seguidores de este ícono del género... 

Aparentemente, estos altibajos son más notorios en las adaptaciones hechas para la pantalla grande y pienso que siempre, no importa cuanto traten los guionistas, directores, actores, etcétera, muchas cosas se pierden irremediablemente en la "transferencia" del universo de la literatura al universo del cine... 

Muy pocas veces, he visto tanta crítica negativa sobre una película de Bond, como en su novena entrega; algunas personas dicen que fue el filme que casi dió al traste con la franquicia completa... 

El Hombre De La Pistola De Oro, lanzada en 1974, fue la última película dirigida por Guy Hamilton y los conocedores dicen que se estaba quedando sin ideas y perdiendo la chispa que tuvo en entregas anteriores. 

Roger Moore fue el Bond a cargo y esta vez, tuvo que lidiar con un peligroso asesino: Francisco Scaramanga, quien suele enviar balas de oro a sus próximos objetivos y una con el "007" grabado, fue enviada exitosamente al agente principal de la MI6... 

Obviamente, Bond estaba ansioso de arreglar cuentas personalmente con Scaramanga y decidió buscarlo en una isla remota, donde, aparte de su pistola de oro, James encontraría un arma sofisticada, potenciada por el Solex Agitator (un dispositivo cuyo propósito era resolver la crisis mundial de energía, robado a un científico británico), la cual Francisco planeaba vender al mejor postor. 

La trama está bien, no puedes culpar a Fleming, ya que el conoce su trabajo; sin embargo, los críticos dicen que el filme luce acartonado y el desarrollo de personajes es pobre; sobre lo que concuerdo, puesto que no es precisamente la mejor interpretación de Moore y la película, en conjunto, luce bastante "de bajo presupuesto", pero es entretenida si la miras desprevenidamente. 

Incluso la chica Bond en este filme, Mary Goodnight, es algo "odiosa" y "fuera de lugar", como un personaje de relleno; con todo, ¡el auto que ella usó en la película fue una historia bastante diferente y debo decir que fue una selección grandiosa!... 

Es ni más ni menos que un brillante MG (Morris Garages) MGB Mark I Roadster de 1963, un coche deportivo más bien pequeño, con un diseño moderno y pulcro para esa época (algo que la industria automotriz británica maneja muy bien). 

El modelo MGB, cuyo predecesor fue el MGA, tuvo una larga producción (1963-1980) y fue muy popular entre los entusiastas de los carros en este segmento del mercado. 

Como una curiosidad, la mayoría de los MGBs fueron exportados a E.E.U.U.A., no obstante, como cualquier vehículo local o importado durante los 70s, su desempeño fue notoriamente reducido, debido a las rigurosas regulaciones de emisiones en vigor... 

No te dejes engañar por este enano, porque no solo es un vehículo buen mozo, con un estilo innovador, sino que tiene también un rendimiento enérgico, gracias a su estructura monocasco de peso liviano y un motor potente (para su tamaño) de 109.8 pulgadas cúbicas, 1.7 L, 4 Cilindros en Línea BMC Serie B, clasificado en 94 hp, con carburadores gemelos SU HS4, tracción trasera y acoplado a una transmisión manual de 4 velocidades. 

El MGB tenía dos estilo de carrocería: roadster y coupé 2+2, la variante escogida para El Hombre De La Pistola De Oro fue la primera mencionada, la cual es una contraparte perfecta para los otros autos principales en el filme, un AMC Hornet Coupé de 1974 (que es muy parecido a mi AMC Hornet Coupé de 1973 publicado aquí) y al AMC Matador Coupé de 1974, todos ellos coches deportivos compactos... 

Cuanto más veo modelos no americanos hechos por Johnny Lightning, más me doy cuenta de cuán gran pérdida fue el desmantelamiento de esta marca de diecast; porque la misma dedicación y amor que ellos aplicaron en el desarrollo de los moldes locales, es desplegado en los extranjeros. 

Este diecast, lanzado como parte de la Serie 40º Aniversario del 007, es una necesidad para cualquier coleccionista serio, pues es muy improbable encontrar este nivel de calidad, en esta escala, para un MG MGB... 

Primero, tenemos una construcción completa en diecast (carrocería y chasis), los detalles son de primera categoría por todos lados, la escala es bastante inusual para un modelo de JL, es decir, 1:52 y esto hace a esta réplica aún más especial. 

La carrocería recibió un hermoso trabajo de pintura en amarillo pálido que es exacto con respecto al color de fábrica y al de la película, los tampos son profusos y mejoran el realismo de la pieza, mientras que el chasis recibió un acabado pulido / lacado que le da una sensación suntuosa. 

Los interiores en negro fueron agradablemente trabajados, el timón está a la derecha, como debería ser y el parabrisas recibió exquisitos toques de pintura y/o tampos. 

Tiene apertura de capó con motor detallado y pintado, el bómper trasero es una pieza separada, también en diecast (otra primicia) y las ruedas, que a propósito no son proporcionales (lucen bastante reducidas y eso sucede cuando pones ruedas escala 1:64 en un modelo de escala 1:60 =PPPPP), pero son multiparte con rimes de radios cromados y llantas labradas en caucho así que, para mí están simplemente bien... 

Gen 1:24-27 "Luego dijo DIOS: produzca la tierra seres vivientes según su género, bestias y serpientes y animales de la tierra según su especie. Y fue así. In such a long saga as the one that described the adventures of the most famous character created by sir Ian Lancaster Fleming, namely: James Bond, you can expect some ups and downs in how the outcome is perceived by the followers of this icon of the genre... 

Ostensibly, these ups and downs are more noticeable in the adaptations made for the silver screen and I think that always, no matter how much the screenwriters, directors, actors, and so on try, many things are irretrievably lost in the "transfer" from the universe of literature to the universe of cinema... 

Very few times, I have seen so much negative criticism on a Bond movie, like in its ninth installment; some people say it was the film that almost gave to fret the whole franchise... 

The Man With The Golden Gun, released in 1974, was the last movie directed by Guy Hamilton and the connoisseurs say that he was running out of ideas and losing the sparkle he had in previous installments. 

Roger Moore was the Bond in charge and this time, he had to deal with a dangerous assassin: Francisco Scaramanga, who use to send a golden bullet to his next targets and one with the "007" engraved, was successfully delivered to the main MI6 agent... 

Obviously, Bond was eager to personally settle scores with Scaramanga and decided to seek him in a remote island, where, apart from his golden gun, James would find a sophisticated weapon powered by the Solex Agitator (a device whose purpose was to solve the global energy crisis, stolen from a british scientist), which Francisco planned to sell to the highest bidder. 

The plot is fine, you cannot blame Fleming, since he knows his work; however, the critics say that the film looks stiff and the character development is poor; on what I agree, inasmuch as is not precisely the best performance of Moore and the movie, on the whole, looks pretty "low budget", but is entertaining if you watch it unawares. 

Even the Bond girl in this film, Mary Goodnight, is kinda "annoying" and "out of place", like a fill character; yet, the car she used in the movie was a quite different story and I must say that it was great selection!... 

It’s neither more nor less than a brilliant 1963 MG (Morris Garages) MGB Mark I Roadster, a rather small sports car, with a modern and neat design for that time (something that the british automotive industry handle very well). 

The model MGB, whose predecessor was the MGA, had a long production (1963-1980) and was very popular among the car enthusiasts in this segment of the market. 

As a curiosity, most of MGBs were exported to U.S.A., nonetheless, as any other local or imported vehicle during the 70s, its performance was notoriously reduced due to the stringent emissions regulations in force... 

Don’t be fooled by this midget, because it’s not only a handsome vehicle, with an innovative style, but it has also a brisk performance, thanks to its lightweight monocoque structure and a powerful (for its size) 109.8 cu in, 1.7 L, 4 Inline BMC B-Series Engine, rated at 94 hp, with twin SU HS4 carburetors, rear wheel drive and coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission. 

The MGB had two body styles: roadster and 2+2 coupe, the variant chosen for The Man With the Golden Gun was the first mentioned, which is a perfect counterpart for the other main cars in the film, a 1974 AMC Hornet Coupe (that is quite similar to my 1973 AMC Hornet Coupe published here) and the 1974 AMC Matador Coupe, all of them compact sports cars... 

The more I see non american models made by Johnny Lightning, the more I realize how great loss was the dismantling of this diecast brand; because the same dedication and love they applied in the development of local casts, is unfolded in the foreign ones. 

This diecast, released as part of the 40th Anniversary 007 Series, is a must have for any serious collector, because is very unlikely to find this level of quality, in this scale, for a MG MGB... 

First, we have a full diecast construction (body and chassis), the details are top notch everywhere, the scale is quite unusual for a JL model, i.e. 1:52 and that makes this replica even more special. 

The body received a beautiful paint job in pale yellow that is accurate regarding the factory and movie colors, the tampos are profuse and improve the realism of the piece, while the chassis received a polished / lacquered finishing that gives it a sumptuous feeling. 

The interiors in black were nicely worked, the steering wheel is on the right, as it should be and the windshield received exquisite touches of paint and/or tampos. 

It has openable hood with detailed and painted engine, the rear bumper is a separate piece, also in diecast (another novelty) and the wheels, which by the way are not proportional (look quite undersized and that happens when you put 1:64 scale wheels in a 1:60 scale model =PPPPP), but are multipart with chrome wire spoke rims and styled rubber tires so, for me they’re just fine...

1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 429 Fastback Coupe with Drag-Pack 2002 40th Anniversary 007 James Bond Heroic Horsepower Series 4/4 Diecast Scale 1:60 by Johnny Lightning

Incluso los caballeros se cansan... 

Yo añadiría, justo como cualquier otro, porque los seres humanos no están dispuestos a estar atados perpetuamente a la misma situación, haciendo las mismas cosas una y otra vez y esta vida nos obliga a reinventarnos cada momento, así podemos sentirnos vivos... 

Le pasa a la gente común, como tú y yo, pero también le pasa a las grandes personalidades en cualquier campo de la ciencia, el arte, el entretenimiento, etcétera... 

Por ejemplo, el notable actor escocés, sir Sean Connery, pensó que 6 películas de Bond eran demasiado de lo mismo para su carrera y la séptima entrega de esta franquicia fue la última vez para él. 

El sexto filme de Bond: Al Servicio Secreto De Su Majestad, con el actor australiano George Lanzenby, no fue bien recibido en aquella época (aunque la película misma fue reconocida después, como uno de los mejores y más distintivos filmes de Bond hecho jamás) y los dueños / productores de la franquicia estaban tratando desesperadamente de volver a la "vieja fórmula", con el fin de conquistar de nuevo a los fanáticos, supuestamente decepcionados. 

Ellos convencieron a Connery, no sin un as en la mano o debería decir 1,25 millones de ases (la cantidad de dólares pagados a Sean, por su retorno a la saga del agente 007, ¡toda una fortuna es esa época!), pero de acuerdo con los conocedores de la filmografía Bond, a pesar del jugoso pago, Connery lo hizo a regañadientes y esto es notorio en su actuación en la película que estoy mencionando... 

Los Diamantes Son Para Siempre, lanzada en 1971, fue el cierre de la era 007 de Connery y tuvo una trama algo apropiada, involucrando la creación de un satélite con un láser potenciado por diamantes por parte de SPECTRE, que sería usado para hacer estallar las armas nucleares de China, la Unión Soviética y Estados Unidos; obviamente, James Bond estaba destinado a ser el "salvador"... 

Hasta aquí, todo está bien, pero los críticos fueron implacables con este filme, diciendo que Bond lucía aburrido, el villano principal era caricaturesco, algunas escenas fueron simplemente ridículas (como la persecución en auto de Bond en un "buggy lunar" (!?) y ya que el presupuesto para los efectos especiales fue claramente cercenado (debido a los honorarios de Connery) el filme parecía barato y el resultado fue una de las peores películas del 007... 

Los diamantes son para siempre, pero los artistas Bond no... 

Uno de los muy pocos momentos brillantes en este filme, es la persecución de coches principal, protagonizada por el agente 007, a bordo de un masivo, extremadamente largo y, con todo, más bien sexy y veloz  Ford Mustang Mach 1 429 Coupé Fastback con Drag-Pack de 1971. 

Hablando de carros que salvan el día, este Mustang, que pertenece a la primera generación y experimentó un rediseño importante, fue muy criticado también por los fanáticos del modelo; las razones principales fueron que no tenía semejanza con los modelos anteriores, además creció demasiado en tamaño y peso, perjudicando notoriamente el desempeño e increíblemente, reduciendo el espacio en la cabina para los pasajeros... 

Un paso en falso, dirán los entusiastas del Mustang, pero en mi humilde opinión, el diseño de carrocería fue único y adelantado a su tiempo para el segmento de los Muscle Cars, con apenas un parecido lejano con el Dodge Charger Fastback de 1966. 

El auto sí luce rápido y ahora creo que la etiqueta de "gato gordo y lento" no aplica en este caso, tal vez en el modelo "básico", pero este era el tope de línea, con un motor de 429 pulgadas cúbicas, 7.0 L, V8 clasificado conservadoramente en 375 hp, con un carburador Holley de 4 barriles, acoplado a una transmisión manual de 4 velocidades y un diferencial 4.3 Detroit-locker, ¡haciendo la aceleración de 0-60 mph en pasmosos 5,4 segundos!... 

No tan perezoso si me lo preguntas =PPPPP... 

Tiempo para otra maravillosa replica en diecast, hecha por Johnny Lightning y de nuevo, un modelo relacionado con películas es publicado aquí, para el disfrute de todos mis visitantes. 

La calidad, nivel de detalle y proporción son realmente buenas, mucho mejores y más precisas que en la versión Hot Wheels hecha recientemente (gracias a la nueva licencia 007 adquirida por Mattel) para su línea Adulta Retro Entertainment. 

Esta Serie del 40º Aniversario del 007, fue una adición grandiosa al ya estupendo portafolio de Johnny Lightning y establece el estándar para cualquier réplica en esta escala, ofreciendo un surtido de modelos sin precedentes. 

Tiene construcción completa en diecast (carrocería y chasis) y el molde fue trabajado agradablemente por JL, como siempre; sin embargo, debo aclarar que el modelo exacto representado aquí, es el del 73 y no el del 71, como debería ser (puedes notarlo en las luces deportivas de la parrilla frontal, que son verticales en vez de horizontales, como en el modelo del 71), pero la inexactitud no me molesta en absoluto, ya que la diferencia en los modelos reales tampoco es significativa. 

El trabajo de pintura es de primera categoría y justo como en la película, lo mismo puede ser dicho sobre los finos tampos; tiene apertura de capó con motor detallado y pintado dentro (a propósito, el capó podría tener mejor detalle, luce algo plano para mi gusto, especialmente comparado con el resto del molde, que incluyó los espejos retrovisores con un toque de pintura); los interiores son realistas y pintados en naranja y eso, de nuevo, es fiel al auto original. Finalmente, tiene ruedas multiparte con rimes clásicos cromados y llantas en caucho labradas con franjas blancas... 

Isa 8:19-20 "Y si os dijeren: preguntad a los encantadores y a los adivinos, que susurran hablando, responded: ¿No consultará el pueblo a su DIOS?  ¿Consultará a los muertos por los vivos? ¡A la Ley y al Testimonio! Si no dijeren conforme a esto, es porque no les ha amanecido."

Even the gentlemen get tired... 

I would add, just like anybody else, because the human beings are not willing to be perpetually tied to the same situation, doing the same stuff time and time again and this life forces us to reinvent ourselves each moment, so we can feel alive... 

It happens to common people like you and me, but it also happens to great personalities in any field of the science, art, entertainment and so on... 

For instance, the noted scottish actor, sir Sean Connery, thought that 6 Bond movies was a bit too much of the same stuff for his career and the seventh installment of this franchise was the last one for him. 

The sixth Bond film: On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, with the australian actor George Lanzenby, was not well received at that time (albeit the movie itself was recognized later, as one of the best and most distinctive Bond’s film ever made) and the owners / producers of the franchise were desperately trying to return to the "old formula", in order to conquer again the allegedly disappointed fans. 

They convinced Connery, not without an ace in the hand or should I say 1.25 million aces (the amount of dollars paid to Sean, for his return to the 007 agent saga, a whole fortune at that time!), but according to the connoisseurs of the Bond filmography, despite the juicy payment, Connery did it grudging and it’s noticeable in his performance in the movie I’m mentioning... 

Diamonds Are Forever, released in 1971, was the closure of the 007 Connery’s era and it had a kinda appropriate plot, involving the creation of a satellite with a diamond powered laser by SPECTRE, which would be used to blow up nuclear weapons in China, the Soviet Union and United States; obviously, James Bond was meant to be the "savoir"... 

So far, everything is fine, but the critics were ruthless with this film, saying that Bond looked bored, the main villain was caricaturesque, some scenes were just ridicule (like the car chase with Bond in a "moon buggy" (!?) and since the special effects budget was plainly severed (due to Connery’s fees) the film seemed cheap and the overcome was one of the worst 007’s movies... 

Diamonds are forever but not the Bond performers... 

One of the very few brilliant moments in this film, is the main car chase in Las Vegas, starring by the 007 agent aboard a massive, extremely long and yet rather sexy and fast 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 429 Fastback Coupe with Drag-Pack. 

Talking about the cars saving the day, this Mustang, that belongs to the first generation and underwent a major restyling, was very criticized as well by the fans of the model; the main reasons were that it has no resemblance with the previous models, also it grew a bit too much in size and weight, notoriously hurting the performance and incredibly reducing the space in the cabin for passengers... 

A misstep, the Mustang enthusiasts will say but in my humble opinion, the body design was unique and ahead of its time for the Muscle Car segment, with barely a far resemblance with the 1966 Dodge Charger Fastback. 

The car does look fast and now i think that the tag "fat and lazy cat" doesn’t apply in this case, maybe in the "basic" model, but this was the top of the line with a 429 cu in, 7.0 L, V8 engine, rated conservatively at 375 hp, with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, coupled to 4-speed manual transmission and a 4.3 Detroit-locker differential, making the 0-60 mph acceleration in stupefying 5.4 seconds!... 

Not so sluggish if you ask me =PPPPP... 

Time for another wonderful diecast replica, made by Johnny Lightning and again, a movie related model is published here for the enjoyment of all my visitors. 

The quality, level of detail and proportion are really good, much better and more accurate than in the Hot Wheels version made recently (thanks to the brand new 007 license acquired by Mattel) for its Retro Entertainment Adult line. 

This 40th 007 Anniversary Series was a great addition to the already marvelous portfolio of Johnny Lightning and sets the standard for any replica in this scale, offering an unprecedented assortment of models. 

It has full diecast construction (body and chassis) and the cast was worked nicely by JL, as always; however, i must clarify that the exact model represented here is the ’73 and not the ’71 as it should be (you can notice it in the sportlamps of the front grille, which are vertical instead of horizontal, like in the ’71 model), but the inaccuracy doesn’t bother me at all, since the difference in the actual models is not significant either. 

The paint job is top notch and just like in the movie, the same can be said about the fine tampos; it has openable hood with detailed and painted engine inside (by the way, the hood could have better detail, it looks kinda plain for my taste, specially compared with the rest of the casting, which included the rearview mirrors with a touch of paint); the interiors are realistic and painted in orange and that’s again faithful to the original car. Finally, it has multipart wheels with classic chrome rims and styled rubber tires with white stripes...
