La industria automotriz norteamericana ha construido un auto para casi todo segmento imaginable del mercado y en la clase de alto desempeño no solo hay Muscle Cars para mostrarnos lo que son capaces de hacer... Hay también algunos especímenes en el segmento de los autos deportivos.
Ford tiene su Serie GT: GT40 y GT90... Shelby tiene el Cobra Daytona, el Aero y el GR 1... Dodge tiene el Viper y General Motors tiene el Cadillac 100 y el Corvette.
Hoy voy a hablar un poco más acerca de la última marca que mencioné.
En 1953, comenzó la historia de Corvette (t.c.c. Vette) como una marca sin pretensiones en el portafolio de GM.
Los modelos de la primera generación (1953-1962) fueron principalmente convertibles de 2 asientos (roadsters) con un diseño hermoso y muy distintivo, donde las líneas redondas fluyen por toda la carrocería, generando la expectativa de alta velocidad y rendimiento.
Lo que fue su mayor fortaleza se convirtió en su mayor debilidad simultáneamente, porque un auto con muy buena pinta y pobre desempeño, es algo realmente decepcionante para los clientes.
Las ventas mostraron claramente el grave error de crear un vehículo tan prometedor y para reducir costos, equiparlo con un tren de potencia menos que decente... Tan claramente, que apenas dos años después de su lanzamiento (1955), General Motors estaba casi lista para retirar este modelo / marca.
Para la segunda generación (1963-1967), Corvette había creado ya una buena reputación como auto deportivo e incluso tuvo las agallas de crear un modelo específicamente diseñado para competencia.
El Corvette Stingray RPO Z06 de 1963 (donde RPO significa: Opción de Producción Regular, por sus siglas en inglés) fue el modelo base para el Corvette Grand Sport de 1963, pero numerosas modificaciones fueron necesarias para cumplir los requerimientos de la FIA.
Compartiré más especificaciones de este modelo en una publicación posterior, así que estén atentos...
Últimamente, otra de mis misiones secretas, era conseguir al menos un modelo de la Serie Trea$ure Hunt$, pero eso fue mucho después de conseguir este modelo...
De hecho, no sabía nada sobre las series disponibles dirigidas a coleccionistas, en este caso, modelos Chase en el catálogo de Hot Wheels, parte de la Línea Principal y lo conseguí de un amigo / colega / proveedor mío, simplemente porque me gustó.
Lo que sí noté fueron las características especiales del modelo en sí, a pesar de la tarjeta normal en la cual venía empacado.
El molde es el mismo de la línea Regular, pero este tiene ya un nivel muy alto de detalle por todos lados y eso es un punto a favor en sí mismo, fue diseñado por Larry Wood.
El trabajo de pintura fue un embelezo para mí, porque es la combinación de un acabado zamac (aleación diecast desnuda lacada), con un recubrimiento de pintura electrostática translúcida color cobre y rematado por un fino trabajo de tampos, que incluye acentos policromados, fantástico, conocido también como Spectraflame...
Y luego, lo que realmente me impactó... ¡Llantas en caucho (tipo Real Riders) con rimes cromados de diseño especial!...
¡Lo crean o no, era la primera vez que veía tal cosa en un Hot Wheels!...
Está bien, llámenme idiota por no haberlo sabido antes, pero nadie nace coleccionista experimentado, como si fuera una condición genética o algo por el estilo. =PPPPP

Today I’m gonna talk a bit more about the last brand I mentioned.
In 1953, began the history of Corvette (a.k.a. Vette) as an unpretentious brand in the GM’s portfolio.
The models of the first generation (1953-1962) were mainly 2-seats convertibles (roadsters), with a beautiful and very distinctive design, where the rounded lines flow all over the bodywork, generating the expectation of high speed and performance.
What was its greatest strength became its greatest weakness simultaneously, because a very good looking car with a poor performance is something really disappointing for the customers.
The sales clearly showed the great mistake of creating a vehicle so promising and to cut down costs, equip it with a less than decent powertrain... So clearly, that only two years after its release (1955), General Motors was almost ready to give up on this model / brand.
For the second generation (1963-1967), Corvette had already established a good reputation as sports car and even had the guts to create a model specifically designed for competition.
The 1963 Corvette Stingray RPO Z06 (where RPO means: Regular Production Option) was the base model for the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport, but many modifications were necessary to meet the requirements of the FIA.

Lately, another of my secret missions, was to get at least one model from the Trea$ure Hunt$ Series, but that was long after I got this model...
As a matter of fact, I knew nothing about series available aimed to collectors, in this case, Chase models in the Hot Wheels catalog, part of the Mainline and I got it from a friend / colleague / provider of mine, just because I like it.
What I did notice was the special features of the model itself, despite the normal card where it was packaged.
The casting is the same of the Regular model, but it has already a high level of detail everywhere and that’s a plus in itself, it was designed by Larry Wood.
The paint job was an eye candy for me, because it’s the combination of a zamac finishing (bare diecast alloy lacquered), with a translucent coat of electrostatic painting in copper color and topped by a fine work on tampos, which includes polychrome accents, fantastic, known as well as Spectraflame...
And then, what really shocked me... Rubber tires (Real Riders type) with special design wheels in chrome!...
Believe it or not, it was the first time that I saw such thing in a Hot Wheels!...
OK, call me dork for not having known it before, but nobody is born seasoned collector, like it were a genetic condition or something like that. =PPPPP

Sure is an eye-candy with all those chrome! HT has dedication to awesome cars from the past, apart from making new kiddish toy cars.
beign the greatest diecast manufacturer worldwide, Hot Wheels has a wide portfolio of products to cater almost all segments of the market, from the kids to the adult collectors... i think is a great move to bear in mind the children, since they will be the future adult collectors... i’m beginning to appreciate much better HW as brand and i have found some great stuff, like this one, which give me a lot of satisfaction as collector... there are some great surprises awaiting =OOOOO... as always, thank you for your visit my friend !!! =)
Corvette Grand Sport - seems to be a great looking classic sports car though I prefer the looks of the modern Corvette more than the classic one. Anyway this is from those Super Treasure Hunt series of Hot Wheels which I never bother to get coz naturally in this part of the world, such items can be quite pricey if compared to the regular Hot Toys so a casual but selective collectors like me don't mind to skip them. The wheel design is very nice and the rubber tires make it look great.
well, the Grand Sport is not only great looking but great performance (something i will explain in a future publication)... actually i like more the older designs of Corvette, since the current models are very similar to other super sport cars, you can’t see something distinctive nowadays so often, they look like carbon copies for me =/////... only the latest 2013 Corvette seems to be something refreshing and different... as for the price factor, i found it for a cost in the limit of decency so, i grabbed it since, as in your case, the price of this kind of items has a tendency to be very high in this side of the world too... =)

pensé que este chocomonstruo le recordaba un amanecer tomando chicha en Sotaquirá HAHAHAHAHAHA... pues le comento que esta piecita fue un chiripazo ni el berriondo, porque logré conseguirlo sin proponérmelo... como es de la Serie Super Treasure Hunts, sí lo hubiera encargado, me habría salido por pulmón y medio, maso... =OOOOO
