ENGLISH Some people say that Chrysler arrived late to the Muscle Cars scene and a saying says that: "the one who hits first, hits twice"...
The 60s were times when the car manufacturers / designers were looking for new ideas, specialized vehicles for people who wanted something distinctive, personal...
They wanted choices and the North American automotive industry was working hard to fulfill their needs...
Ford made officially the first move in the arena of the Muscle Cars, is the pioneer and remains in force to date so, it was the paradigm used by the other American carmakers, in order to define the expectations in this segment.
Chrysler, watching the great success of the Ford Mustang, wanted a slice of that cake and selected the Dodge Division for such purpose.
In my personal opinion, it was a very particular decision, inasmuch as Dodge was something like the "medium class" division and the first Muscle Car by Chrysler was basically a specialty vehicle, namely, a personal car with touches of luxury, style and performance, made for a niche market.
Maybe it was the right time to give back some of the shine and prestige that Dodge had when it was an independent brand, who knows?...
The Dodge Dealer Council was quite trenchant in what they want for this new Muscle Car and they established two directives: they asked for a vehicle which were something in the middle of the Mustang and the Thunderbird and in the other hand, they were asking for what other Division of Chrysler already had, they wanted something similar to the Plymouth Barracuda.
No doubt, a whole test for the designers and engineers at Dodge; but the challenge did not end there, since they must work with as much existing components as it were possible.
The result was the Charger, which indeed exceeded expectations and was dubbed accordingly: "the Leader of the Dodge Rebellion".
The 1971 Dodge Charger R/T was part of the lineage of this charming and influential Muscle Car by Chrysler, but its technical specifications and incredible features will be explained in a future publication, just a hint of what will come!...
Some time has passed since the last time I published a M2 Machines diecast and it was not because my appreciation for this brand has diminished...
Is just the fact that this diecast manufacturer never was an inexpensive brand and the humble collector, owner of this blog, has a tight budget which is distributed the best way possible.
In the case of this collectible, it was not only a matter of money, but a matter of opportunity as well...
I mean, I was in the right place, at the right time, with the right budget and although I was not looking for this specific model, I took a chance and it was a sound decision.
This 1971 Dodge Charger R/T HEMI Custom belongs to the Drivers Series, which is a sort of basic line, with a slightly lower price than the other lines by M2 Machines.
The packaging is a card, big and thick, printed in full color and not the usual clamshell; yet is an excellent presentation, similar to that of the high end lines by Johnny Lightning.
The model itself has the same level of detail and finishes you can expect from this brand, which is awesome.
The paint job in apple green polychrome, as well as the tampos and/or decals are flawless.
The interiors in black are incredibly detailed and realistic.
The work on the multipart wheels with rubber tires is astonishing and adds a lot of charm.
However, unlike the other lines by M2 Machines, only the body was made in diecast, while the chassis is plastic (in black); neither it has opening doors or hood.
Its display base is simpler, but it has the name of the model printed and the collectible as a whole doesn’t disappoint at all...
It’s just cool!...
Psa 40:1-4 "I waited patiently for the LORD; and HE inclined unto me, and heard my cry. HE brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And HE hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our GOD: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies."
A real vintage of 1971 and M2Machines diecast did a good job of this miniature. The design is sleek and its kind of shark like with those straight ventilation openings by the side.
the 1971 Charger is one of the most outstanding in the lineage of this Muscle Car and now that you mention it, yeah it has a sharky shape... no doubt M2Machines has had high quality standards for their scale replicas and hence, its reputation keeps growing (and the price accordingly)... when it comes to Muscle Cars, this brand seriously takes pains and give us incredible diecast !!!... =)

From now, I will be publishing basically the same contents in both blogs, but for reviews before March 18, 2019, you must read my Blogger blog...
I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...
