La gente hoy en día, parece ser bastante impresionable en ciertas circunstancias o temas; a primera vista, dirías que es una contradicción en nuestra cultura contemporánea, porque la sobrecarga de información de los medios, tiende a desensibilizar a las masas... 

Pero empieza a tener algún sentido, cuando te das cuenta que la mayoría de esa información es básicamente basura, que la gente usa para formarse una opinión sobre su realidad, tan frívola, que es como si hubieran sido lobotomizados... 

Cuando se trata de autos, la gente de hoy está lista para alabar casi cualquier cosa sobre ruedas, como si fuera la quintaesencia del diseño automotriz; dan por sentado que cualquier coche que ellos consideren de buen gusto, especialmente los lanzamientos más recientes, son todos vehículos llenos de actitud y personalidad... 

No estoy diciendo que no puedes encontrar carros impresionantes estos días, pero si quieres encontrar autos con ACTITUD, debes volver al pasado por inspiración de verdad... 

Cuando algunos coches no eran siquiera sueños, Pontiac ya había creado una reputación como marca enfocada en el rendimiento y el estilo, por un costo más bien razonable. 

De hecho, lo que el Pontiac GTO hizo por esta marca y por la industria automotriz, no fue poca cosa; no fue solamente el origen de todo el segmento de los Muscle Cars americanos (lo cual es, en sí mismo, ¡toda una hazaña!), también permaneció como el estándar dorado a lo largo de la corta existencia de este tipo de vehículos. 

Pero sus hazañas no terminan allí, el GTO (¿o debería decir GeeT OH?) hizo todo esto, en medio de una prohibición oficial de General Motors sobre cualquier involucramiento en carreras de carros o incluso un leve asomo de conducción agresiva / irresponsable de autos... 

Los gerentes de mercadeo y marca en la División Motor de Pontiac (PMD por sus siglas en inglés), tuvieron que ponerse muy creativos así que, hicieron alianzas estratégicas con otras marcas y/o productos, con el fin de evadir inteligentemente, la prohibición ya mencionada. 

Hay más, el nombre GTO (que significa Gran Turismo Omologato o Gran Turismo Homologación), fue una clara referencia a su contemporáneo el Ferrari 250 GTO y puedo imaginar cuán indignante debió ser para Enzo y los purista de Ferrari. 

Y si tal cosa no fuera suficiente, el carro tenía su propia "banda sonora": Little GTO de Ronny and The Daytonas (incluida en esta publicación), una canción muy pegajosa, con todo el sabor de los 60s (y un poquitín de los 50s), ¡que trae de vuelta buenos recuerdos!... 

Esto es lo que yo llamo ACTITUD y eso es lo que el Pontiac GTO Techo Duro 2 Puertas de 1967, tiene para ofrecer en abundancia; cerca de 50 años después, es todavía tan gallardo, varonil, poderoso, icónico, legendario y arrogante, como en sus días de gloria completa... 

¿Puedes decir lo mismo de cualquier ejemplo contemporáneo de "autos con actitud"?... 

¡No lo creo! =PPPPP... 

A propósito, este coche encajado / sensual no era precisamente un gatito, sino una bestia, ofreciendo un violento motor de 400 pulgadas cúbicas, 6.6 L, V8, clasificado en 360 hp, con carburador Rochester Quadrajet de cuatro barriles y acoplado a una transmisión manual de  4 velocidades, en la configuración tope de línea... 

Sí, lo tienes, no es el carro promedio, para el tipo promedio... 

Bien, como prometí, esta publicación será la excusa perfecta para otra descarga de bilis, cortesía de mi pluma cáustica, con todo mi desprecio por los parásitos que están tratando de arruinar esta afición (con la ayuda de algunos cabezas huecas, por supuesto)... 

Hoy, continuaré exponiendo algunas de las prácticas de la Mafia de los Hot Wheels, que está compuesta básicamente de acaparadores, haciendose pasar por compradores o coleccionistas y especuladores, haciendose pasar por vendedores. 

Como podrías saber ya, esta gente repulsiva está interesada, más que nada, en los modelos de la Serie Treasure Hunts (especialmente las versiones Super o Hidden) y harán cualquier cosa para conseguirlos... 

Trabajan dentro y fuera de Hot Wheels, en el caso de aquellos que trabajan fuera, usan diferentes "tácticas" para lograr su objetivo. 

Por ejemplo, una vez se dan cuenta que un nuevo envío arribará a cualquiera de sus "tiendas objetivo", estarán allí desde la noche anterior; ellos tienen contactos dentro de las tiendas (usualmente el personal encargado de manejo de inventario) y/o consiguen información a través de empleados en Hot Wheels, responsables por la distribución o despacho de órdenes así que, ellos saben exactamente cuando sucederá. 

Ahora, te podrías preguntar ¿cómo construyen este "círculo de contactos" o debería decir: manguala de amigotes?... 

Bueno, esto se trata de dinero, amigo, soborno va y soborno viene; este dinero es tan sucio como el dinero involucrado en cualquier transacción ilegal... 

¿Cuál es la diferencia?... Solo la mercancía en juego, el resto es el mismo estiércol... 

Estoy apenas comenzando a desarrollar este desagradable tema y hay todavía un montón de cosas que compartir aquí; afortunadamente, tengo suficiente bilis para persistir en mi diatriba contra esta plaga, ¡así que, sigue conectado! =PPPPP... 

Ya que la extinta marca de automóviles conocida como Pontiac y más precisamente el GTO, han sido grandes favoritos para mí, tiene mucho sentido traer algo de su dulzura a mi humilde blog. 

Conté con la ayuda de dos amigos, colegas coleccionistas e importadores, con el fin de conseguir los ejemplos reseñados esta vez y me tomó cerca de 3 años reunirlos. 

Este molde debutó por primera vez en el set de 3 piezas 30º Aniversario de los Muscle Cars del 67, perteneciente a la Serie Hot Wheels 100%, una línea Premium. 

Fue diseñado por Mark Jones y debo decir que él ha desarrollado muchos buenos modelos hasta ahora; la versión techo duro es bastante popular, con al menos 61 apariciones (incluyendo variantes), mientras que la versión convertible (más reciente, ya que fue lanzada en 2008) tiene apenas 13 apariciones o algo así. 

El modelo tiene una muy buena semejanza con el auto real, tiene detalles bonitos, especialmente en la fascia frontal y la proporción es decente. 

Hay notables diferencias en el molde para el chasis, entre las versiones techo duro y convertible; mientras en la carrocería son más sutiles, excepto obviamente por la carencia de techo en el último. 

Conseguí tres muestras de este gran molde, las cuales son complementadas por un Pontiac GTO Convertible del 67, publicado anteriormente. 

La primera pertenece a la Serie Treasure Hunts, parte de las líneas regulares, es la versión Super y antes que siquiera pienses: "este tipo solo predica, pero no aplica"; conseguí este artículo por un precio más bien razonable (que fue en realidad el costo más alto que pagaría por un artículo como este, pero muy por debajo de los que otros se atreven a pagar, sin consultar su sentido común), lo cual es una señal segura que no es parte de la espiral de especulación de la Mafia de los Hot Wheels. 

Presenta carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico dorado; el trabajo de pintura es excelente con un blanco marfil opulento en acabado perlado, complementado por una decoración en dorado, negro y blanco sobre los paneles laterales, incluyendo la insignia TH 2000 sobre los guardafangos traseros y un tampo blanco de Hot Wheels GTO sobre el parabrisas; los interiores son negros, las ventanas son ahumadas, las ruedas son multiparte con diseño de rimes Deep Dish dorados, llantas labradas en caucho Real Riders y fue hecho en Tailandia. 

La segunda pertenece a la Serie Hippie Mobiles, parte de la línea principal; presenta carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico cromado; el trabajo de pintura es algo loco, con un amarillo brillante de fondo, los tampos ponen la cuota de creatividad sobre los paneles laterales con un "tapiz" de flores, combinadas con un cráneo genial, un logo de Hot Wheels sobre los guardafangos traseros y otro "tapiz" sobre el capó, con más flores, llamas y un texto "Flower Power", en naranja, negro y blanco; los interiores son negros, las ventanas ahumadas, las ruedas son pásticas con diseño de rimes 5 Spoke cromado y fue hecho en Malasia. 

La última pertenece a la Serie Clover Cars, una línea Adulta con tarjeta distintiva, creada para celebrar el Día de San Patricio; presenta carrocería en diecast y chasis en plástico cromado; obviamente, el trabajo de pintura fue desarrollado en gamas de verde, con un fondo verde lima, complementado por una decoración tribal sobre el capó, el baúl y los paneles laterales, hecha en verde medio, negro y blanco; los interiores son beige claro, el parabrisas es tintado de amarillo, las ruedas son plásticas con diseño de rimes 5 Spoke cromado y fue hecho en Malasia... =DDDDD

People nowadays seem to be quite impressionable in certain circumstances or topics; at first sight, you would say that is a contradiction in our contemporary culture, because the information overload of the media, tends to desensitize the masses... 

But it starts to make some sense, when you realize that most of such information is basically rubbish, which people use to form an opinion about their reality, so flighty, that it’s like they would have been lobotomized... 

When it comes to cars, people today is ready to praise almost anything on wheels, like it were the quintessence of the automotive design; they take for granted that any car they consider tasteful, specially the most recent releases, are all vehicles full of attitude and personality... 

I’m not saying that you cannot find awesome cars these days, but if you wanna find cars with ATTITUDE, you must return to the past for true inspiration... 

When some cars were not even dreams, Pontiac had already created a reputation as a brand focused on performance and style, for a rather reasonable cost. 

In fact, what the Pontiac GTO did for this brand and for the automotive industry, was no small feat; it was not only the origin of the entire segment of the american Muscle Cars (which is, in itself, quite a feat!), it also remained the golden standard along the short existence of this type of vehicles. 

But its feats don’t end there, the GTO (or should I say GeeT OH?) did all of this, amidst an official ban of General Motors on any involvement in car racing or even a slight hint of aggressive / irresponsible car driving... 

The marketing and brand managers in Pontiac Motor Division (PMD), had to get pretty creative so, they made strategic alliances with other brands and/or products, in order to evade intelligently, the ban already mentioned. 

There is more, the GTO name (which stands for Gran Turismo Omologato or Gran Touring Homologation), was a clear reference to its contemporary Ferrari 250 GTO and i can imagine how outrageous it should be for Enzo and the Ferrari purist. 

And if such thing weren’t enough, the car had its own "soundtrack": Little GTO by Ronny and The Daytonas (included in this publication), a very catchy tune, with all the taste of the 60s (and a bit of the 50s), that brings back good memories!... 

This is what I call ATTITUDE and that’s what the 1967 Pontiac GTO 2-Door Hardtop has to offer galore; nearly 50 years later, it’s still as dashing, manly, powerful, iconic, legendary and arrogant, as it was in its days of full glory... 

Can you say the same about any contemporary example of "cars with attitude"?... 

I don’t think so! =PPPPP... 

By the way, this boxy / sexy car was not precisely a kitten, but a beast, featuring a violent 400 cu in, 6.6 L, V8 engine, rated at 360 hp, with Rochester Quadrajet four-barrel carburetor and coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission, in the top of the line configuration... 

Yeah, you got it, is not the average ride, for the average Joe... 

Well, as I promised, this publication will be the perfect excuse for another discharge of bile, courtesy of my caustic pen, with all my contempt for the parasites who are trying to ruin this hobby (with the help of some knuckleheads, of course)... 

Today, I will continue exposing some of the practices of the Mafia of Hot Wheels, which is comprised by hoarders, posing as buyers or collectors and scalpers, posing as sellers. 

As you might already know, these repulsive people are interested, more than anything, in the models from the Treasure Hunts Series (specially the Super or Hidden versions) and they will do anything to get them... 

They work inside and out of Hot Wheels, in the case of those who work out, they use different "tactics" to achieve their goal. 

For instance, once they realize that a new shipment will arrive to any of their "target stores", they will be there since the night before; they have contacts inside the stores (usually the staff responsible for inventory management) and/or get information through employees in Hot Wheels, responsible for distribution or dispatch of orders so, they know exactly when it will happen. 

Now, you may ask how they build this "circle of contacts" or should I say: gang of cronies?... 

Well, this is all about money, man, bribery goes and bribery comes; this money is as dirty the money involved in any illegal transaction... 

What’s the difference?... Only the goods at stake, the rest is the same manure... 

I’m barely beginning to develop this nasty topic and there are still a lot of things to share here; fortunately, I have enough bile to persist in my diatribe against this plague so, stay tuned! =PPPPP... 

Since the extincted brand of automobiles known as Pontiac and more precisely the GTO, have been great favorites for me, it makes a lot of sense to bring some of their sweetness to my humble blog. 

I enlisted the help of two friends, fellow collectors and importers, in order to get the samples reviewed this time and it took me about 3 years to bring them together. 

This cast debuted for the first time in the 30th Anniversary of the ’67 Muscle Cars, a set of 3 pieces, belonging to the Hot Wheels 100% Series, a Premium line. 

It was designed by Mark Jones and I must say that he has developed many good models until now; the hardtop version is quite popular, with at least 61 appearances (including variants), while the convertible version (more recent, since it was released in 2008) has barely 13 appearances or so. 

The model has a very good resemblance with the actual car, it has nice details, specially in the front fascia and the proportion is decent. 

There are noticeable differences in the mold for the chassis, between the hardtop and convertible versions; while in the body are more subtle, except obviously for the lack of top in the latter. 

I got three samples of this great cast, which are complemented by a previously published ’67 Pontiac GTO Convertible. 

The first one belongs to the Treasure Hunt Series, part of the regular lines, is the Super version and before you even think: "this guy just preaches but doesn’t apply"; I got this item for a rather reasonable price (that was actually the highest cost I would pay for an item like this, but way below what others dare to pay, without consulting their common sense), which is a sure sign that it was not part of the spiral of speculation of the Mafia of Hot Wheels. 

It features diecast body with golden plastic chassis; the paint job is excellent with an opulent ivory white in pearled finishing, complemented by a decoration in golden, black and white on the side panels, including the TH 2000 badge on the rear fenders and a Hot Wheels GTO white tampo on the windshield; the interiors are black, the windows smoked, the wheels are multipart with golden Deep Dish rims design, Real Riders styled rubber tires and it was made in Thailand. 

The second one belongs to the Hippie Mobiles Series, part of the Mainline; it features diecast body with chrome plastic chassis; the paint job is kinda crazy, with a glossy yellow background, the tampos put the share of creativity on the side panels with an "arras" of flowers, combined with a cool skull, a Hot Wheels logo on the rear fender and another "arras" on the hood, with more flowers, flames and a "Flower Power" wording, in orange, black and white; the interiors are black, the windows smoked, the wheels are plastic with chrome 5 Spoke rims design and it was made in Malaysia. 

The last one belongs to the Clover Cars Series, an Adult line with distinctive card, created to celebrate the Saint Patrick’s Day; it features diecast body with chrome plastic chassis; obviously, the paint job was developed in ranges of green, with a lime green background, complemented by a tribal decoration on the hood, trunk and side panels, made in medium green, black and white; the interiors are light beige, the windshield is yellow tinted, the wheels are plastic with chrome 5 Spoke rims design and it was made in Malaysia... =DDDDD
