ENGLISH The british automotive industry is another good source of incredible and emblematic means of transportation, from the everyday cars to the exclusive sports and top luxury vehicles; passing by utilitarian, trucks, heavy machinery, military equipment, indeed there is a bit of everything for every segment in the market... In 1922, it was founded a business called Swallow Sidecar Company by two motorcycle enthusiast; probably it would be an irrelevant or even nonsensical information, if not for the fact that this sidecar manufacturer would become Jaguar Cars Limited a.k.a. Jaguar Land Rover Limited...
This is one of the oldest and most reputed British carmakers ever known and like all the enterprises in this guild, it has had its times as "independent player", but the globalization has made everything really hard for the "smalls business".
At this very moment, Jaguar is part of the jewels in the crown of the Tata Motors conglomerate; which is kinda ironic, since India was an English colony for a long time and now it seems to be the other way around, LOL!...
The focus of this company has been mainly in the high performance and luxury cars which is great, because when you’re focused, the outcome is always better than when you try to do many things at the same time.
It sounds like a hackneyed phrase, but it really works...
The common sense seems to be highly underrated all the time.
It would be an absurdity to deny that Jaguar has made some of the most beautiful vehicles in the automotive history.
The XK Series, for instance, includes samples of exquisite design like the XK120, XK140, XK150, XK-E and the XK-SS, just to mention a few pearls...
These are true classics and with such precedent, Jaguar had a very interesting challenge when it was decided to create the successor for the brilliant XJS.
In late 1991, began the process on the drawing board, but the development of the project coded as "XK100" concluded in 1996 and it was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show of that very year.
It has two body styles: coupe and convertible / cabriolet, also it shares the same platform with the Aston Martin DB7.
The shape is characterized by the extensive use of smooth curves around the entire body and it kinda reminds me the Mazda Miata, obviously a bigger, more exclusive and more expensive version (somebody in Jaguar, at this very moment, would want to hang me o___X)...
The whole design is quite appealing and doesn’t lack of the charm of the British cars but, in my personal opinion, it should be more aggressive and manly... We are talking of a grand tourer after all!...
Fortunately, the second generation (2007-present) solved the problem of the shortage of "testosterone" of the previous model...
Well, what it lacks in aggressiveness in the design, has plenty of power below the hood, with a 4.0 L, AJ26/27 V8 engine coupled to a ZF 5HP24 5-speed automatic transmission and the option of a Supercharged 4.0 L, AJ26S V8 engine coupled to a Mercedes W5A580 5-speed transmission, both electronically limited to a top speed of 250 km/h...
Now, that’s what I call real power!...
You will not see a model like this, by Johnny Lightning, so often.
This brand is focused in the american car industry and is one of the best in this business, for sure.
For that very reason, is really hard to find models from other countries made by JL.
This Jaguar XK8 belongs to the Modern Muscle Series and is the only european vehicle included.
It’s part of the samples of the Playing Mantis era, when Johnny Lightning improved quite a bit the realism and quality in their models, pointing more accurately to the market of the adult collectors.
The cast and finishes leave you open-mouthed, you cannot believe the level of detail achieved, the interiors, the engine, below the chassis, at some points are even better than in the models by Tomica Limited Vintage (TLV), Minichamps or Kyosho.
The paint job / tampos are fantastic, even the rearview windows were finely painted.
It was packaged in a big and thick full color card with nice graphics, and they included a precious trading card...
Everything is awesome here!...
2 Sam 22:31-32 "As for GOD, His Way is Perfect; the Word of the LORD is tried: HE is a buckler to all them that trust in Him. For who is GOD, save the LORD? and who is a Rock, save our GOD?"
As always, Johnny Lightning did a great job on their models and thus its pretty easy for us to like them. This blue Jaguar is quite excellent but the one in maroon color is quite beautiful as well. I want them both LOL
HEHEHE... by the way, the one painted in maroon/burgundy, which is a Johnny Lightning as well, is nothing more nor less than a fantastic and classic 1967 Toyota 2000 GT !!!... obviously, i think they make an exquisite couple and both are quite hard to find nowadays !!!... i think that the LORD is pretty generous, letting me enjoy these lovely delicacies !!!... =)

My alternate blog in WordPress
From now, I will be publishing basically the same contents in both blogs, but for reviews before March 18, 2019, you must read my Blogger blog...
I’m a professional graphic designer and a restful collector, but above all: I’m someone who doesn’t take for granted anything, just because someone else says so. I think this hobby goes way beyond buying stuff here and there: anybody with money can buy collectibles, but not anybody becomes collector by doing so. I think as well that this hobby is, more than anything, about knowledge, about making sense of what happens around us and just like any other kind of knowledge, if it’s devoid of ethics, is worthless. I like to address topics around collectionism, including, but not limited to: history, industry, forums, groups, collectors, distributors, sellers, etc. I’m fully aware that criticism is essential for our hobby: everything is susceptible of improvement and we the collectors demand quality, but the industry around it doesn’t necessarily shares that vision. After all, well-targeted criticism always helps to detect failures and correct them, it’s like critical thinking: it helps you see things as they really are and not just as how they are presented to you. If you are someone who likes to look beyond the surface, welcome, if that is not the case, continue at your own risk...
