La industrialización trae como consecuencia muy a menudo, en el mediano y largo plazo, una fuerte tendencia a la homogeneización de los productos, con el fin de atender varias clases de clientes y segmentos del mercado con el mínimo esfuerzo y recursos posibles... 

Simplemente porque las empresas ahorran un montón de dinero fabricando grandes cantidades de productos basados en una "plantilla", la cual ofrece algunas variaciones / opciones menores, algo que no se puede lograr con productos desarrollados desde cero, los cuales son una verdadera rareza... 

La industria automotriz de ninguna manera es ajena a esta tendencia, de hecho, esa es la razón de porqué ves que vehículos de diferentes segmentos y particularmente del mismo segmento son cada vez más parecidos unos a otros... 

Es como una "pandemia" de imitadores y permíteme traer a colación un término que es usado hasta la saciedad y equivocadamente / engañosamente por los medios principales de comunicación, "casi" como si quisieran repetir una mentira una y otra vez hasta que "se convierta en verdad", porque, bueno, fabricar crisis globales, dictaduras globales o autos globales es más barato, si sabes a lo que me refiero. 

Pero vamos a retornar a temas "un poquitín" menos espinosos, ¿deberíamos?, recordando que durante el lapso desde la segunda mitad de la década de los 50s al final de los 70s hubo un "florecimiento" inusitado de tipologías de vehículos no visto antes. 

Precisamente, una tipología que ya no existe, al menos no en el mercado de los Estados Unidos, es una a la cual pertenece uno de mis invitados para esta publicación: el Ford Ranchero GT de 1972, un Coupé Utilidad - UTE de Tamaño Mediano 2 Puertas. 

Habrá tiempo, si DIOS permite, para compartir más sobre la tipología Coupé Utilidad, aunque puedes encontrar información adicional aquí, aquí, aquí y aquí, pero algo que vale la pena mencionar es que en realidad el Ranchero fue el primer vehículo de este tipo ofrecido en el mercado norteamericano. 

Además, este Ranchero GT, que pertenece a la sexta generación del modelo (penúltima antes de su eliminación), fue el segundo más grande jamás ofrecido y la silueta general de la carrocería presentaba proporciones raras para el platón y el frente. 

Quiero decir, la cabina lucía en comparación diminuta, incluso estrecha y pienso, con todo el debido respeto, que fue un intento fallido de los diseñadores para darle una pinta más deportiva, porque el resultado es algo caricaturesco y estas proporciones raras podrían ser arregladas extendiendo la cabina hacia el frente, pero en aras de la homogeneización... 

Ahora, puedes ver otra invitada: la Ford F-250 Ranger 4x4 Styleside Cabina Regular Platón Largo de 1979, una Camioneta Pickup de Tamaño Completo para Trabajo Liviano Clase 2B, bueno, no hablaré sobre ella en esta reseña, porque hay una publicación anterior presentando este modelo aquí y planeo compartir más en el futuro así que, esperemos... 

Mattel está muy involucrada en este tema de la industrialización, particular pero no exclusivamente con sus productos de juguete en diecast, los cuales a propósito están presentando más plástico y menos diecast con el tiempo... 

Bueno, no es de extrañar ya que Hot Wheels misma es el fabricante más grande de coches de juguete en diecast en el mercado, seguida muy de lejos por su par cada vez menos atractivo y diferenciado, Matchbox: estos productos son un claro ejemplo de homogeneización... 

Y hablando acerca de homogeneización, no es inusual ver que esta tendencia conduce en algún punto a una notable disminución en el control de calidad, la cual por cierto es un problema enorme en marcas como Hot Wheels y Matchbox: producción en masa usualmente significa problemas de calidad en masa. 

Estoy introduciendo esta vez un par de artículos que pertenece a la Serie Hot Wheels Car Culture - Trucks de 2016, parte de la categoría Adulta; los conseguí a través del mercado secundario, con la ayuda de un amigo mío, colega coleccionista, vendedor privado e importador, hace más de 4 años. 

Bueno, esta Serie fue una de las primeras introducidas para la línea Car Culture y la primera con respecto a camionetas pickup, luego era una Serie "transicional", lo que significa que presentaba la tarjeta pequeña y decoración incompleta (pero hecha con tampos, en lugar de la espuria impresión digital en inyección de tinta): fue lanzada antes de la Serie "Premium" (falsemium). 

Hablaré un poco más en reseñas futuras sobre la recepción entre coleccionistas de esta Serie, sus pros y contras, pero ahora enfoquémonos en mis invitados. 

La primera, basada en la Ford F-250 Ranger 4x4 de 1979, diseñada por Mark Jones y con solo dos iteraciones para líneas Adultas, a primera vista parece una reedición de la Ford Truck de 1979 (lanzada en 1999 y usada hasta 2018 hasta aquí), pero es un molde diferente, tanto que la portezuela trasera está cerrada ahora y la escala cambió de 1:63 a 1:67 (teniendo en mente que ambas son camionetas de juguete), lo cual demuestra que Mattel está bastante comprometida con su política de recorte de costos. 

El trabajo de pintura fue hecho en azul con acabado Metalflake, complementado por una decoración incompleta, con tampos, sobre los paneles laterales y la portezuela trasera, en blanco, naranja, plateado y negro (no hubo tampos y/o calcomanías para el frente o la cola y se nota demasiado). 

Tiene un inserto plástico para el porta-escaleras en el platón, con tubos muy gruesos para cumplir con las regulaciones para juguetes, interiores negros, ventanas transparentes, las ruedas multiparte presentan diseño de rimes Real Riders Mag Style 5 Spoke en cromado y llantas en caucho labradas. 

El segundo, basado en el Ford Ranchero GT de 1972, diseñado por Larry Wood y lanzado en 2009, ha estado en las categorías Regular y Adulta alternativamente, con 20 iteraciones hasta aquí; el trabajo de pintura fue hecho en rojo oscuro con acabado perlado, apenas complementado por una decoración muy simple con tampos sobre los paneles laterales y el capó, en rojo y plateado: la decoración luce pobre con respecto a modelos lanzados previamente para Series como: Hot Wheels Classics, Hot Wheels Delivery: Slick Rides o Holiday Hot Rods. 

Ofrece interiores plateados, ventanas plateadas y las ruedas multiparte presentan diseño de rimes Real Riders 5 Spoke en cromado y llantas de caucho labradas; ambos presentan carrocería / chasis en diecast y fueron hechos en Malasia...

The industrialization brings as a consequence very often, in the medium and long term, a strong trend to the homogenization of products, in order to cater several kinds of customers and market segments with the minimal effort and resources possible... 

Just because companies save a lot of money manufacturing large amounts of products based on a "template", which offer some minor variations / options, something that cannot be achieved with products developed from scratch, which are truly a rarity... 

Automotive industry by no means is alien to this trend, in fact, that’s the reason why you see that vehicles from different segments and particularly from the same segment, are increasingly more similar to each other... 

It’s like a "pandemic" of copycats and let me bring up a term that is used ad nauseam and wrongly / deceivingly by mainstream media, "almost" like they wanted to repeat a lie time and time again until "it becomes truth", because, well, manufacturing global crises, global dictatorships or global cars is cheaper, if you know what I mean. 

But let’s as well return to "a bit" less thorny topics, shall we?, remembering that during the span from the second half of the 50’s decade to the end of the 70s there was an unusual "flowering" of typologies of vehicles not seen before. 

Precisely, a typology that no longer exists, at least not in the market of the United States, is the one to which belongs one of my guests for this publication: the 1972 Ford Ranchero GT, a Midsize 2-Door Coupe Utility - UTE. 

There will be time, if GOD allows, to share more about the Coupe Utility typology, albeit you can find additional information here, here, here and here, but something worth mentioning is that actually the Ranchero was the first vehicle of this kind offered in the American market. 

Besides, this Ranchero GT, that belongs to the sixth generation of the model (penultimate before its removal), was the second largest ever offered and the overall shape of the body featured odd proportions for the bed and the front. 

I mean, the cabin looked in comparison tiny, even cramped and I think, with all due respect, that it was a failed attempt by designers to give it a more sporty look, because the result is kind of cartoonish and these odd proportions could be fixed extending the cabin towards front, but for the sake of homogenization... 

Now, you can see another guest: the 1979 Ford F-250 Ranger 4x4 Styleside Regular Cab Long Bed, a Light Duty Class 2B Full Size Pickup Truck, well, I will not talk about it in this review, because there is a previous publication featuring this model here and I plan to share more in the future so, let’s wait... 

Mattel is very involved in this topic of industrialization, particularly but not exclusively with its diecast toy products, which by the way are featuring more plastic and less diecast over time... 

Well, it’s no wonder since Hot Wheels itself is the largest manufacturer of diecast toy cars in the market, followed very far by its increasingly less attractive and differentiated peer, Matchbox: these products are a clear example of homogenization... 

And talking about homogenization, it’s not unusual to see that this trend leads at some point to a noticeable decline in quality control, which by the way is a huge issue in a brands like Hot Wheels and Matchbox: mass production usually means mass quality problems. 

I’m introducing this time a pair of items that belongs to the 2016 Hot Wheels Car Culture - Trucks Series, part of the Adult category; I got them through the secondary market, with the help of a friend of mine, fellow collector, private seller and importer, more than 4 years ago. 

Well, this Series was one of the first introduced for the Car Culture line and the first regarding pickup trucks, so it was a "transitional" Series, which means that it featured the previous small card and incomplete decoration (but made with tampos, instead of the spurious digital inkjet print): it was released before the "Premium" (fakemium) Series. 

I will talk a little bit more in future reviews about the reception among collectors of this Series, its pros and cons, but now let’s focus on my guests. 

The first one, based on the 1979 Ford F-250 Ranger 4x4, designed by Mark Jones and with only two iterations for Adult lines, at first sight looks like a reissue of the 1979 Ford Truck (released in 1999 and used until 2018 so far), but is a different mold, so much that the rear tailgate now is closed and the scale changed from 1:63 to 1:67 (bearing in mind that both are toy trucks), which demonstrates that Mattel is quite committed with its cost-cutting policy.

The paint job was made in blue with Metalflake finishing, complemented by an incomplete decoration, with tampos, on the side panels and the tailgate, in white, orange, silver and black (there were no tampos and/or decals for the front or the tail and it shows too much). 

It has a plastic insert for a ladder rack on the bed, with very thick tubes to meet regulations for toys, black interiors, clear windows, the multipart wheels feature Real Riders Mag Style 5 Spoke rims design in chrome and styled rubber tires. 

The second one, based on the 1972 Ford Ranchero GT, designed by Larry Wood and released in 2009, has been in the Regular and Adult categories alternatively, with 20 iterations so far; the paint job was made in dark red with pearled finishing, barely complemented by a very simple decoration with tampos on the side panels and the hood, in red and silver: the decoration looks poor regarding previous models released for Series like: Hot Wheels Classics, Hot Wheels Delivery: Slick Rides or Holiday Hot Rods. 

It offers silver interiors, clear windows and the multipart wheels feature Real Riders 5 Spoke rims design in chrome and styled rubber tires; both feature diecast body / chassis and were made in Malaysia...
