Letras son solo letras o al menos eso dicen, tú no piensas en letras cuando estás escribiendo una frase, estás pensando en ideas o sensaciones para transmitir a tu interlocutor, pero no estás considerando esos pequeños "ladrillos" que construyen el lenguaje...
Es realmente asombroso como estos elementos absolutamente abstractos pueden construir significado y conocimiento, teniendo en mente que las letras, consideradas individualmente, no tiene significado en sí mismas excepto en algunos contextos...
Pero cuando se ponen juntas, en una secuencia particular, siguiendo ciertas reglas gramaticales, construyen palabras; cuando las palabras se ponen juntas, construyen frases y las frases a su vez materializan ideas, conceptos: así es como, más o menos, cualquier lenguaje con un componente escrito funciona.
En la mayoría de alfabetos occidentales modernos, la "M" es simplemente la duodécima letra, sin ningún significado particular, pero en el contexto de Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, "M" significa Motorsport y representa una división completa dedicada a crear y/o apoyar cada desarrollo de esta marca alemana principalmente alrededor de los autos e incluso motos de carreras.
Este nuevo significado para la letra "M" ha sido establecido exitosamente, al menos entre los entusiastas de los coches y de las carreras alrededor del mundo, durante más de 40 años y en las palabras del presidente de esta división: "BMW M significa una filosofía, no dogmáticamente una tecnología".
Esta filosofía tiene que ver con dos conceptos básicamente: precisión y agilidad, esa es una afirmación ambiciosa en el campo de los deportes a motor, porque hay demasiadas restricciones, reglas y variables por fuera del control de cualquier equipo participante en esta disciplina.
Sin embargo, los autos de carreras M han puesto a BMW en el hall of fama varias veces, estos vehículos han ayudado consistentemente a generar una reputación fuerte para la marca de Münich, Bavaria.
Hoy estoy introduciendo un desarrollo de la división M: el Auto de Carreras ALMS (American Le Mans Series) BMW (E92) M3 GT2 de 2009 - 2011, basado en la cuarta generación de la Serie 3 mejorada por M, un Coupé Ejecutivo Compacto 2 Puertas hecho para el mercado de los Estados Unidos.
Fue desarrollado especialmente para la Clase GT2 de la Serie ya mencionada, precisamente después de un "asunto sin finiquitar" con el modelo anterior BMW (E46) M3 GTR, que llevó a BMW a retirarse de dicha competición.
El chasis fue hecho en acero a presión / unitario que incluye el marco de la carrocería y una celda de seguridad soldada, cubierto por paneles de fibra de carbono compuesta que ayudan a la reducción de peso, junto con la configuración de carrocería altamente modificada (más baja, ancha y desnudada hasta el hueso), también las ayudas aerodinámicas de rigor.
La planta de poder (que está localizada más hacia atrás con respecto a su contraparte para la calle) es un motor de 244 pulgadas cúbicas, 4.0 L, BMW P65B40 V8 90º con lubricación de cárter seco, aspiración natural, clasificado en 460/485 bhp (más tarde en 500 bhp) y acoplado a una transmisión manual secuencial Hewland / Xtrac de 6 velocidades, por eso es que los Ms son contendores serios en cualquier competición donde participen...
Hot Wheels es probablemente la marca de diecast con la variedad más amplia de modelos disponible en este mercado, este solo factor es una de sus fortalezas más grandes y una poderosa razón de por que este fabricante disfruta de tanta popularidad entre coleccionistas de esta clase de artículos, pero toda esta variedad viene a un precio...
No voy a abordar en esta reseña las implicaciones de mi última declaración, habrá tiempo para eso; lo que voy a hacer en su lugar es hablar sobre las ventajas de la variedad y una de ellas es la posibilidad de conseguir una buena réplica en diecast de ciertos vehículos a un costo razonable...
La marca azul de Mattel tiene una buena cuota de coches de carreras de diferentes disciplinas de los deportes a motor y de diferentes épocas, muchos de ellos son muy icónicos y hay un poco de todo, con modelos de: Piques, Rally, Fórmula 1, Derrapes, Serie GT, etc...
Debido a las particularidades de los carros de carreras, algunos de ellos no ven mucho uso particularmente por fuera de las líneas Regulares, lo cual es una lástima, porque esta clase de vehículos tiene un montón de potencial y encanto para líneas Adultas, De Lujo o incluso Premium (Hot Wheels 100%), estoy bastante seguro que esto tiene que ver con los costos de licenciamiento para decoraciones de carreras precisas, pero ya sabemos que HW no es muy dada a invertir en ese rubro.
Hoy precisamente estoy introduciendo uno de esos modelos subutilizados en la alineación de Hot Wheels, apodado BMW M3 GT2, diseñado por Fraser Campbell, lanzado en 2012 y con solo 6 iteraciones hasta aquí (3 de ellas variaciones y 1 de ellas es parte de una línea Regular mejorada); es de hecho una representación más que decente de auto de carreras real, con bonitos detalles, buena proporción y postura.
Conseguí mi invitado para esta publicación con la ayuda de un amigo mío, colega coleccionista e importador, hace más de 5 años; pertenece a la Serie HW Premiere de 2012.
La carrocería fue hecha en diecast mientras que el chasis fue hecho en plastico plateado medio; increíblemente, es uno de esos modelos que rompe la regla de 4 partes (excluyendo las ruedas), porque la quinta parte es el alerón trasero en plástico rojo.
El trabajo de pintura fue hecho en negro con acabado brillante, complementado por una decoración simple pero pulcra sobre los paneles laterales, techo y capó, hecha con tampos y/o calcomanías en plateado, cian, azul índigo y rojo, añadí como es usual algunos detalles pintados para las luces frontales y de cola.
Tiene ventanas ahumadas e interiores negros que incluyen la jaula de seguridad, las ruedas plásticas presentan diseño de rimes Phil Riehlman 5 Spoke con labio en rojo cromado y fue hecho en Malasia...

Today I’m introducing a development of the M division: the 2009 - 2011 BMW (E92) M3 GT2 ALMS (American Le Mans Series) Racing Car, based on the fourth generation of the Series 3 improved by M, a Compact Executive 2-Door Coupe made for the market of the United States.
It was developed specially for the GT2 Class of the Series already mentioned, precisely after an "unfinished business" with the previous BMW (E46) M3 GTR model, that led BMW to withdrawn from such competition.
The chassis was made in pressed / unitary steel that includes the frame of the body and a welded safety cell, covered by carbon-fiber composite panels that help to the weight reduction, along with a heavily modified body configuration (lower, wider and stripped to the bone), also the mandatory aerodynamic aids.
The powerplant (which is located more rearward regarding its street counterpart) is a 244 cu in, 4.0 L, BMW P65B40 V8 90º engine with dry sump lubrication, naturally aspirated, rated at 460/485 bhp (later at 500 bhp) and coupled to a Hewland / Xtrac 6-speed manual sequential transmission, that’s why the Ms are serious contenders in any race where they participate...
Hot Wheels is probably the diecast brand with the widest variety of models available in this market, this factor alone is one of its greatest strengths and a powerful reason why this manufacturer enjoys so much popularity among collectors of this kind of items, but all this variety comes with a price...
I will not address in this review the implications of my latter statement, there will be time for that; what I’m gonna do instead is to talk about the advantages of variety and one of them is the chance to get a good diecast replica of certain vehicles for a reasonable cost...
The blue brand of Mattel has a good share of racing cars from different disciplines of motorsports and from different eras, many of them are very iconic and there is a bit of everything, with models from: Drag Racing, Rally, Formula 1, Drifting, GT Series, etc...
Due to the particularities of racing cars, some of them don’t see much use particularly outside the Regular lines, which is a pity, because this kind of vehicles has a lot of potential and charm for the Adult, De Luxe or even for Premium (Hot Wheels 100%) lines, I’m pretty sure it has to do with the costs of licensing for accurate racing liveries, but we already know that HW is not very willing to invest in this area.
Today precisely I’m introducing one of those underutilized models in the Hot Wheels lineup, dubbed BMW M3 GT2, designed by Fraser Campbell, released in 2012 and with only 6 iterations so far (3 of them variations and 1 of them for an upgraded Regular line); it’s in fact a more than decent representation of the actual racing car, with nice details, good proportion and stance.
I got my guest for this publication with the help of a friend of mine, fellow collector and importer, more than 5 years ago; it belongs to the 2012 HW Premiere Series.
The body was made in diecast while the chassis was made in medium silver plastic; incredibly, it’s one of those models that brakes the rule of 4 parts (excluding wheels), because the fifth part is the rear wing in red plastic.
The paint job was made in black with glossy finishing, complemented by a simple but neat decoration on the side panels, roof and hood, made with tampos and/or decals in silver, cyan, indigo blue and red, I added as usual some painted details for the front and tail ligths.
It has smoked windows and black interiors which include the safety cage, the plastic wheels feature Phil Riehlman 5 Spoke rims design with red chrome lip and it was made in Malaysia...
